http://www.mormonchannel.org/watch/series/happy-families Meet the Pereira family. They love soccer, animals, and making bread because each of those things brings them closer together. Find out how in this episode of Happy Families.
Tanya Pereira grew up in Goa, India, where she raised chickens as a little girl. She shares a taste of her own childhood with her daughter, Kayla, who also has chickens.
“I wanted to give my daughter the same experience I had when I was growing up, and she absolutely loves them,” Tanya says.
The Pereira’s son, Nick, enjoys playing soccer—almost as much as his parents and sister enjoy cheering for him from the sidelines.
“What’s amazing is how the whole family has rallied around the whole soccer thing—including Mom. Mom is the loudest person we have,” says Nick’s dad, Neville.
When everyone is home after a busy day, the family can spend time making one of their favorite foods. Chapati is unleavened flatbread, a staple food in India. Tanya and Neville learned how to make it when they were young. Now, they pass the tradition and technique on to their children.
No matter the activity, the Pereiras have found that if it brings them together then it is always worth making time for.

Actress Julianne Hough talks about her Dirty Grandpa co-star Robert De Niro on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
'In Mormon culture, three months is a long time to be engaged': Julianne Hough says she's in no rush to make wedding plans with Brooks Laich
The actress - who became engaged to Brooks Laich in August last year - said the couple are just enjoying this stage of their relationship despite the pressure from her religious family.
'In Mormon culture, three months is a long time to be engaged,' the 27-year-old actress told PEOPLE 'But we plan on being together forever, so we have time'
Julianne revealed in her Mormon culture, couples are expected to make wedding plans immediately after the engagement.
The DWTS judge said her Mormon father told her 'the minute you get engaged, you have to set a date,'
The duo have very busy schedules coming up so no doubt those wedding plans will have to wait a while.
Julianne is currently focused on her starring role as Sandy in Grease: Live which airs on January 31.
Hockey player Laich, 32, is traveling across the country with his team the Washington Capitals for NHL games.
But Julianne is looking forward to being a wife and mom and also recently revealed that while it won't be happening any time soon, she's wanted to be a mom since she was 5 years old.
'I'm all over the place,' she said. 'So it's really nice to have a solid path [with Brooks] now.'
During an appearance on Good Morning America this week the blonde beauty called herself 'the worst bride ever,'
'I haven't done anything,' she told hosts in New York on Monday.
The actress is currently promoting Dirty Grandpa which she stars in alongside Zac Efron and Robert De Niro.

Laura Roper Andreasen is the granddaughter of LDS Apostle M. Russell Ballard. Recently Laura resigned her membership in the LDS Church after struggling unsuccessfully for decades to find happiness and health as an active, believing Latter-day Saint (e.g., serving an LDS mission, marrying in the temple, having children). In this vulnerable, thoughtful, respectful, and heartfelt two-part interview, Laura discusses the following:
-- The deep love and respect she has for her parents, grandparents, and Mormon heritage.
-- Her struggles as a child, teenager, and adult with:
-- What she experienced to be a culture of perfectionism and shame in the LDS church.
-- A family and church culture of avoiding emotional vulnerability and the open discussion of difficult topics.
-- The added difficulty/burden/pressure of being a direct descendant of Hyrum Smith and the grandchild of an LDS Apostle (within LDS culture).
-- Her struggle with low self worth, depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation for multiple decades.
-- Her complex relationship with Grandpa Ballard, who (from her perspective) struggled to balance his role as an apostle with his role as grandfather.
-- Her perspective on what it is like to be an LDS Apostle, answering many questions for Mormon Stories listeners.
-- Her reasons for leaving the LDS Church after being unable to find joy within it.

When we compare Book of Mormon cultural history with what is known of Mesoamerican history for the same period, we find some amazing similarities and no areas of serious conflict. A list of common cultural traits includes a belief in the cosmos with multiple realms, an underworld, flood legends, mountains as holy places where man connected with deity, and mounds…symbolizing the ascent to heaven. Modern archeology also verifies that the level of civilization depicted in the Book of Mormon generally agrees with Nephite and Lamanite chronology. When we compare this picture to what we find in Mesoamerican archaeology and historical research, the similarities fit the Book of Mormon in ways that Joseph Smith could not have known. In addition to this, Mesoamericanists now agree that native inhabitants built seagoing rafts and traveled from the Isthmus of Tehuantepec both northward and southward in trading expositions…yet another interesting connection.

"Only a Matter of Time" is a 7-1/2 hour documentary that covers the Scriptural, Prophetic, Physical, Celestial, Wars, Political, Cultural, and Historical evidences concerning the signs of the times, the 2nd Coming of Jesus Christ, and the Biblically prophesied end of the world.

#2: The information we present is supporting evidence and not official Church doctrine.
#3: These evidences are not intended to GIVE you a testimony, but to strengthen your testimony in the Book of Mormon as the Word of God and Joseph Smith as His chosen Prophet.
#4: We are only human and will... probably... make a few mistakes. Be patient with us.
#5: After we have covered all Book of Mormon related evidences, we will focus on answering other questions members of the LDS Church should have an answer for (such as Biblical evidences, LDS Church History, the Book of Abraham, Polygamy, Blacks and the Priesthood, Creation vs. Evolution, etc)
There shall be signs and wonders in the heaven immediately preceding the "Second Coming of Jesus Christ!"
Up until now, there have been scoffers and critics of the LDS church for suggesting that Jackson County, Mo and Nauvoo Illinois directly coinciding with 2 solar eclipses taking place within 7 years of eachother. Coincidence? I report... you decide!

Mormons claim that they are Christians. This has been a polarizing subject in our culture over the last several years. Evangelicals have argued on both sides of the issue. There is no doubt that these are wonderful people who lead exemplary lives. But, do their beliefs reflect biblical teaching? Wayne May — Book of Mormon Geography in North America
Here is a copy of the two-part presentation author and researcher Wayne May gave at the Spring 2011 Ancient American History Conference in Salt Lake City, UT. The Book of Mormon is true, and we believe its history took place in the Heartland of North America, that the ancient Adena and Hopewell Indian cultures are the Jaredite and Nephite civilizations respectively.

Part 2A of "Only a Matter of Time" examines the political and cultural signs of the times that both ancient and modern prophets foresaw and forewarned would be among us in the last days. Do we have secret combinations among us today similar to the Gadianton Robbers that were among the Nephites 2,000 years ago? Is the prevailing culture of America today similar to those of ancient Egypt, Syria, Babylon, Greece, and Rome—nations that were destroyed for their acts of godlessness? Answers to these questions and much more can be found by watching Part 2A of "Only a Matter of Time."

YouTube comments are at present disabled in our channel, to the displeasure of some. However, each video has a prominent link to the associated open thread that appears on our blog. In the past we've tried opening up the channel to comments, but we found that a very high number of episodes wound up being flooded with a combination of spam, long winded apologists, and various obscene or misogynistic comments directed at various hosts by people with an axe to grind. This seems to be the nature of YouTube comment sections, in our experience.
We do moderate the blog, the same way that we moderate chat during the show, as well as comments on our Facebook group. For comment sections that are "officially" associated with our show (and, to a much lesser extent, channels that may give the unintended appearance of being official), we prefer not to play host to straight up ad hominem attacks and bigotry. As a general policy we do not block commenters simply on the basis of disagreement with our point of view. However, we do prefer discussion environments that don't actively chase off more reasonable contributors.

WHAT IS THE ATHEIST EXPERIENCE?
The Atheist Experience is a weekly cable access television show in Austin, Texas geared at a non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.
The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

Mormons are a religious and cultural group related to Mormonism, the principal branch of the Latter Day Saint movement of Restorationist Christianity, which began with Joseph Smith in upstate New York during the 1820s. After Smith's death in 1844, the Mormons followed Brigham Young to what would become the Utah Territory. Today, most Mormons are understood to be members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). Some Mormons are also either independent or non-practicing. The center of Mormon cultural influence is in Utah, and North America has more Mormons than any other continent, though the majority of Mormons live outside the United States.
Mormons have developed a strong sense of communality that stems from their doctrine and history. During the 19th century, Mormon converts tended to gather to a central geographic location, and between 1852 and 1890 a minority of Mormons openly practiced plural marriage, a form of religious polygamy. Mormons dedicate large amounts of time and resources to serving in their church, and many young Mormons choose to serve a full-time proselytizing mission. Mormons have a health code that eschews alcoholic beverages, tobacco, coffee, tea, and other addictive substances. They tend to be very family-oriented, and have strong connections across generations and with extended family, reflective of their belief that families can be sealed together beyond death and throughout eternity. Mormons also have a strict law of chastity, requiring abstention from sexual relations outside of opposite-sex marriage and strict fidelity within marriage.
Mormons self-identify as Christian, though some of their beliefs differ from mainstream Christianity. Mormons believe in the Bible, as well as other books of scripture, such as the Book of Mormon. They have a unique view of cosmology, and believe that all people are spirit-children of God. Mormons believe that returning to God requires following the example of Jesus Christ, and accepting his atonement through ordinances such as baptism. They believe that Christ's church was restored through Joseph Smith and is guided by living prophets and apostles. Central to Mormon faith is the belief that God speaks to his children and answers their prayers.
