County Seat Episode 42 State Parks Budget Cuts
Last year the state legislature made drastic cuts to the State Parks budget. As a result they are now looking at possibly having to close or transfer ownership of some of their parks in order to fit into the new budget they've been given. Are these feasible suggestions on how to deal with the shortfall in State Parks? Terry Wood checks in with commissioners in some of the rural areas that would be greatly affected to find out.

All of these cities are in the north Alabama county of Marshall, which is just southwest of Madison County, of which Huntsville is the county seat. This was an interesting drive, to say the least; especially with all of the left lane hogs/slowpokes that I encountered. *sigh*

Barnesville, Georgia
Barnesville, Georgia
I'm driving through Barnesville, Georgia, along Old US 41 and US 41. US 41 was re-routed along a truck bypass on the southside of Barnesville, to keep thru trucks out of Downtown Barnesville. Old US .41 was turned back over to local maintenance. US 341 was truncated to the US 41 truck bypass. Barnesville is home to a two-year institution -- Gordon College (est. 1852; enrollment: 3703). Lamar County, of which Barnesville is the county seat, is one of the counties in Metro Atlanta, surprisingly enough. It's just south of Spalding County, separated to the north by Pike County.
