Vic Reeves fan club vhs Early Reeves and Mortimer footage
Vic Reeves fan club vhs Early Reeves and Mortimer footage From the sleevenotes: "Vic Reeves first began performing his 'Variety Palladium' in Winstons, a small bar in Deptford, South East London. It was here that he met Bob Mortimer and together, in 1988, they began 'VIC REEVES BIG NIGHT OUT'. They took over the back room of The Goldsmiths Tavern in New Cross, and from then on, for a lot of people, Thursday nights were never quite the same again. The show quickly out grew the venue and it was transferred to The Albany Empire in Deptford a year later. Soon every show was sold out in advance. Top TV executives were often to be seen in the audience and inevitably, in November 1989 they recorded a pilot show for Channel 4. They were given their first series that night. Two series and two sell-out nationwide tours later, the Big Night Out is no more as Vic and Bob concentrate on a new show for the BBC. This video, introduced by Vic and Bob, features rare clips of an early show at Goldsmiths, highlights of the Albany shows, as well as some material recorded during the first Tour in Autumn 1990. With the permission of Channel X Television, we have been able to include a short extract from the never seen before Pilot. The quality of some of the footage is poor as it is taken from the only remaining copies, however, we felt that it was necessary to include it for it's historical value. Jack Dent. Edward Teach (c. 1680 -- 22 November 1718), better known as Blackbeard, was a notorious English pirate who operated around the West Indies and the eastern coast of the American colonies during the early 18th century. Teach was most likely born in Bristol. Little is known about his early life, but in 1716 he joined the crew of Benjamin Hornigold, a pirate who operated from the Caribbean island of New Providence. He quickly acquired his own ship, Queen Anne's Revenge, and from 1717 to 1718 became a feared pirate. His cognomen was derived from his thick black beard and fearsome appearance; he was reported to have tied lit fuses under his hat to frighten his enemies. After parting company with Hornigold, Teach formed an alliance of pirates, and with his cohort blockaded the port of Charleston, South Carolina. He successfully ransomed its inhabitants and then soon after, ran his ship aground on a sandbar near Beaufort, North Carolina. Teach accepted a royal pardon but was soon back at sea, where he attracted the attention of the Governor of Virginia, Alexander Spotswood. Spotswood arranged for a party of soldiers and sailors to find and capture the pirate, which they did on 22 November 1718. During a ferocious battle, Teach was killed by a small force of sailors led by Lieutenant Robert Maynard. A shrewd and calculating leader, Teach used his fearsome image instead of force to elicit the response he desired from those he robbed. Contrary to the modern-day image of the ...
