"In the reserve itself, now, and most of the surrounding areas of the reserve, there is no logging taking place, so far. But, we assume that, as I said, with such infrastructure (the planned bridge), it's going to happen; cause it's not happening because there is no access, you know, to, move, you know, the logs, outside, you know, that area."

"I'm not against it, but I think it's possible that bridge should have been built somewhere else along the area. We need that bridge. Definitely it's needed, but probably the location could have been somewhere else."

LEAD IN
Tanzania and Mozambique hope to strengthen ties by building a
Unity bridge between them over the Ruvuma river.
The Unity Bridge will connect southern and eastern
Africa.
It was proposed in
1975 shortly after Mozambique independence, but due to a lack of funds it could not be completed.
Without any foreign aid, the two countries are now hoping to complete the project by 2008.
STORYLINE:
Forming the border between Tanzania and Mozambique, the Ruvuma river flows through an isolated region in east Africa.
