TV satire 30 Rock dominated the comedy side of the US TV Emmy Awards, winning four honours including best series. Its stars, Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey, took home the best acting honours while Fey also won the comedy writing award. Period dramas Mad Men and John Adams won the awards for best drama series and best mini-series. British actress Dame Eileen Atkins took home the award for best supporting actress in a mini-series for her role in the BBC drama Cranford. "We're very grateful to be up here again and so grateful to have survived into our third season," Fey said as she accepted the best comedy series award. Highlights from the Emmy awards - courtesy of ABC/ATAS "We are all very grateful to have jobs in this turkey-burger economy." Baldwin added: "This is the greatest job I've ever had in my life." Tom Wilkinson was the only other Briton to win an award, taking the trophy for best supporting actor in a mini-series for John Adams. Emmy Awards Preview The 2008 Primetime Emmy Awards are set to air live on ABC September 21st from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. This is a special year for the Emmys, as it marks its 60th anniversary. The show features several more nominations for programs on cable versus the series from the major networks dominating the lists as in previous years. In fact, 'Mad Men' and 'Damages' reportedly made Emmy-history by being the first basic cable programs to be nominated in a best series category. Added to the Outstanding Drama Series, Dexter, House and Boston Legal. 'Mad Men' had the most nominations overall in the drama -- with 16 -- and over in comedy, it was '30 Rock' with 17. The list for best in Comedy Series include 30 Rock, Curb Your Enthusiam, Entourage, The Office and Two and a Half Men. Some of the best actors, funny and serious, include Charlie Sheen, Steve Carrell, Alec Baldwin and James Spader. Of course fans were also rejoicing at the sighting of Ashley Green, Robert Pattinson and even Taylor Lautner - who were all on hand for the big event. Other important awards went out to, yet another shocker, choice lip-lock for Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. Another Vampire-based production, The Vampire Diaries, took home the best TV Show awards in the categories of Fantasy/Sci-fi and Breakout Show, with both Paul Wesley and Nina Dobrev taking home double acting awards in those categories too. Definitely dominating the announcements, include the comedic musical-of-sorts GLEE with 19 nods while the more dramatic Mad Men received 17. But the big time winner - if there is one for nominations - is The Pacific, getting a whopping 24 Emmy nominations. Here's an official tally: 30 Rock -15, Modern Family -14, Lost -12, SNL -12, Dancing with the Stars -9, The Good Wife -9, Nurse Jackie -8 with The Amazing Race, Breaking Bad, Dexter and American Idol all receiving a handful of 2010 nods as well. Dexter is an American television drama series, which debuted on Showtime on October 1, 2006. The sixth season premiered on October 2, 2011. The series centers on Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Guinness community manager Dan Barrett says the agency "just researched and approved" the record this morning. According to Barrett, Sheen reached that milestone in 25 hours and 17 minutes. As of this writing, Sheen's Twitter account, @CharlieSheen, has close to 1.2 million followers. Guinness did not have a previous record for that category, Barrett says. Juanita Moore (born October 19, 1922) is an American film and television actress. She is the fifth African American to be nominated for an Academy Award in any category, and the third in the Supporting Actress category. Moore had a number of bit parts and supporting roles in motion pictures through the 1950s and 1960s. Her most famous role was as housekeeper Annie Johnson in the 1959 remake of Imitation of Life. Moore's portrayal of the broken-hearted Annie, whose daughter Sarah Jane (Susan Kohner) passes for white, won her a nomination for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. When the two-movie version of Imitation of Life was released on DVD one of the bonus features was a new interview with Juanita Moore. Moore has continued to perform in front of the camera, with a role in the movie Disney's The Kid (2000) and guest-starring roles on television shows Marcus Welby, MD, ER and Judging Amy. Moore's grandson is actor/producer Kirk Kelley-Kahn, who is CEO/President of "Cambridge Players - Next Generation", a theatre troupe whose founding members included Moore, Esther Rolle, Helen Martin, Lynn Hamilton and Royce Wallace.
