When you watch this music video you can see where I worked on the oil rig and road my bike on Santa Monica pier all the time. Wonderful times were spent in Malibu, as well. I use to play at the Malibu Inn and spend much time with my dogs on the beaches and canyons. We shot the performance at SIR in Nashville, with Slim Stephenson (bass), Mike Pachelli (acoustic guitar), Carrie Glenn (Hammond B3) and Joe Dorn (drums). This song is from my new album "Life's An Illusion." I was inspired by the southern California theme where I lived for over 20 years. I directed and edited this music video. Shot with Canon 5Dmkii and Canon T2i, as well as, minimal 35mm film from my Arri IIC. Lens used included Zeiss Compact Primes CP2 and Canon L Series lenses. Amy Lynn Larwig (makeup artist). Jared Ruso (camera operator), Brett Pausina (camera operator) for stage shots. I shot the other footage, with the exception of a few clips of stock footage. The actress is Cristal Cox. Surfing, southern California and the Santa Monica Pier are predominant in the narrative of this video. I found myself missing California while making this video. The most likely category for my music in terms of radio genres would be adult album alternative or Triple A. I can loosely be categorized as Americana Rock 'n Roll, or Neo-Classic Rock. I've worked with Donald Fagen from Steely Dan, Courtney Love from Hole. I've worked with the band Journey. I'm going to teach you how to be a better singer and performer. So I'm going to give you a few tips for performance secrets for American Idol winners. I have worked with American Idol's and I have worked with finalists and many of the contestants on the show. Its a very intense show and there's a lot of pressure on and you have to learn a lot of songs very quickly. I think some of the big main topics, some of the main things that these singers know is that over-rehearsing is really important. You can't just sing through a song once or twice that you've to really know it. A cappella and with the accompaniment and that when you know it a cappella then you're not relying upon what's happening musically and it just makes it more solid for you. We know that song choice is king. Song choice meaning lyrical you know- choice, finding the song that fits you like a glove is really not an easy thing to do. I can't tell you how many times in this studio we have poured through material looking for the right songs for a particular artist ...

Kelly Clarkson - My Life Would Suck Without You (Official Music Video HD)
"My Life Would Suck Without You" is a song performed by American pop rock singer-songwriter Kelly Clarkson. It is the first single from her fourth studio album, All I Ever Wanted. Dr. Luke and Max Martin, writers of her hit "Since U Been Gone", co-produced and co-wrote the song. Claude Kelly also contributed to the lyrics. It is her second number-one single in the United States after 2002's "A Moment Like This", her second number-one in Canada after "A Moment Like This", and her first number-one in the United Kingdom. "My Life Would Suck Without You" is a moderately fast pop rock song composed in the key of A major with 138 beats per minute. The tempo is set in common time. Clarkson's vocal range spans from A3 to E5. The instruments used in this song are synthesizers, guitars, a drum machine, and bass. The song begins with mellow guitar plucking and transcends into a melody of synthesizers, guitars, and synthesized drums. The melody then cascades into a chorus of crashing cymbals, bass, synthesizers, and loud guitars. The music video for the song was directed by Wayne Isham and was shot in Los Angeles in December 2008. It is now available for digital download on iTunes and is featured on the DVD of the Deluxe Edition of All I Ever Wanted. A preview of the video was shown during a commercial break for American Idol on its January 28, 2009, episode. The full video then premiered via AT&T's website directly after the broadcast. I release my music through my independent label Blue Earth Records which is categorized as "Adult Album Alternative." This is the first time I have shot with 35mm film and it was a bit nerve-racking, but I quite enjoyed the process and the results. I filmed this using my recently purchased Arri IIC with PL mount, Canon T2i and rented 7D. I edited on Final Cut Pro. I spent alot of time on color correction getting the HD footage to blend with the film footage. The 35mm motion picture film stock was Kodak Vision3 5207. The film was scanned to Pro Res. I used rented Zeiss superspeed lenses, 18mm & 35mm, as well as, my Lomo 18mm lens with PL mount for the Arriflex 2C film camera. For the DSLR cameras, I used rented Zeiss Compact Prime CP2 21mm, 35mm and 85mm lenses. I also used the kit 18-55mm lens that came with the T2i on a few shots for convenience, ie snow storm. This song, Troubled Son, is on my new album "Life's An Illusion." This was shot at various locations throughout Tennessee. You may notice that I am playing all of the band members, mainly due to the fact that I was snowed in and needed to get the shots initially and because it was kind of cool to do, although alot of work. J-Lo falls and bounces off her butt at AMAs, Will.I.am gives analysis
The Black Eyed Peas wins Best Pop/Rock Group or Duo at 2009 American Music Awards. American Music Awards: J-Lo falls flat at the AMAs J-Lo provided one of the unintentional highlights of the American Music Awards when she fell over on stage in the middle of her dance routine. After tons of advance hype, J-Lo's performance of "Louboutins" fell flat -- and so did the singer. She took a tumble mid-song. In her defense, the song wasn't completely awful, but its advance hype gave viewers high expectations. Most of us were a little underwhelmed. The star otherwise known as Jennifer Lopez landed on her famous behind mid-way through her performance of Louboutins. She had climbed on to the back of a male dancer and jumped off, only to slip as she landed. Ever the professional, she quickly recovered her composure but was later filmed looking furious as she exited the auditorium. It had all started so well, with the singer entering the arena dressed as a prizefighter for a boxing-inspired performance. Afterwards, her spokesman reassured fans that Lopez had not been injured in the fall. "She's fine, totally fine," he said. Lopez was not the only star to take a tumble at the ceremony. Adam Lambert, the former American Idol star, also slipped mid-way through his routine. However, that was the least noteworthy element of his performance, which was so risque that it provoked furious complaints from viewers who felt it was too graphic for a primetime audience. Sandy Posey - Born A Woman.wmv
Sandy Posey (born June 18, 1944[1]) is an American popular singer, who enjoyed success in the 1960s with singles such as her 1966 recording of Martha Sharpe's composition, "Single Girl." She is often described as a country singer, although, like Skeeter Davis (to whom she's been frequently compared) her output has varied. Later in her career, the term "countrypolitan," associated with the "Nashville sound", was sometimes applied.[2] Posey had three hit singles in the United States all of which peaked at number 12 in the sales charts.Posey had her first hit with "Born a Woman," which Moman produced in Nashville on March 15, 1966.[8] This reached number 12 in the US sales charts in September 1966. "Born a Woman" was regarded by some as a women's liberationist song ("You're born to be stepped on, lied to, cheated on"), although it was lampooned by others[9] and Helen Reddy, whose song, I Am Woman, became a feminist anthem in 1972, dismissed it much later as "dreadful" and its lyrics as "not exactly empowering".[10] Billboard referred contemporaneously to "this woeful ballad rocker", while praising Posey's "excellent vocal work".[11] Even so, Posey received two "Grammy" nominations for "Born a Woman" in the categories of vocal performance (female) and contemporary (R&R) solo vocal. "Born A Woman" was later covered by Nick Lowe (Bowi EP) and Hubble Bubble.

There's a lot of great voices out there, there's a lot of talented people, but the people who tend to pop through are those that have found their niche, how they sound good singing. So I'm going to just a few tips for that today. First thing is you want to choose the right material for you and that starts with lyrical content. You should be singing stuff that you believe in, that is akin to you, that is natural to you. So you want to choose lyrics that mean something to you, you don't want to be singing about stuff that doesn't mean anything to you. You also want to find the right genre, and this takes some experimenting. So one of the things I do with ...

Pete Seeger: American Folk Music Documentary - To Hear Your Banjo Play (1/2)
1946 www.amazon.com Watch the full film: thefilmarchived.blogspot.com American folk music encompasses many genres; many are known as roots music. Roots music is a broad category of music including bluegrass, country music, gospel, old time music, jug bands, Appalachian folk, blues, Cajun and Native American music. The music is considered American either because it is native to the United States or because it developed there, out of foreign origins, to such a degree that it struck musicologists as something distinctly new. It is considered "roots music" because it served as the basis of music later developed in the United States, including rock and roll, rhythm and blues, and jazz. Many roots musicians do not consider themselves to be folk musicians; the main difference between the American folk music revival and American "roots music" is that roots music seems to cover a slightly broader range, including blues and country. Roots musical forms reached their most expressive and varied forms in the first two to three decades of the 20th century. The Great Depression and the Dust Bowl were extremely important in disseminating these musical styles to the rest of the country, as Delta blues masters, itinerant honky tonk singers and Latino and Cajun musicians spread to cities like Chicago, Los Angeles and New York. The growth of the recording industry in the same approximate period was also important; increased possible profits from music placed pressure on artists, songwriters ...

Change Me - RUBEN STUDDARD
Christopher Ruben Studdard (born September 12, 1978) is an American pop, R&B, and gospel singer. He rose to fame as winner of the second season of American Idol. Studdard released his first single, a cover of Westlife's "Flying Without Wings" (which he had sung on the show's finale), produced by the Underdogs and Face, a month later in June 2003. Fueled largely by sales, it debuted at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. In December 2003, advance orders for his album Soulful topped the 1 million mark before it was released into stores. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 album chart that month, selling over 400000 copies in its first week and attaining the highest first-week sales of any American Idol winner. The single "Sorry 2004" from this album found substantial airplay, reaching #9 in the Billboard Hot 100 and #2 on the Billboard R&B singles chart. Studdard received a Grammy Award nomination in December 2003 for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for "Superstar", nominated with his idol Luther Vandross (Vandross won that category). In March 2004, Ruben won the NAACP Outstanding New Artist award. I first heard this artist's name from my sister in the USA. She's a big fan of RUBEN!!! And indeed, RUBEN is one heck of a singer... SOULFULLY indeed!!! Enjoy!!!
