A brief ramble on life, learning and atheism

Have you ever met someone who you could swear was born wise? They seem to have it all figured out and somehow automatically know everything you’ve spent so much time trying to grasp. Unfortunately I have to admit I was born more foolish than not, but hopefully I’m growing out of it. Check out this great male enhancement pills site.

I’m not someone who’s opinions and beliefs never change. I thought I was, but I was wrong. I was raised without religion (by a non-pedantic definition) and at an early age I decided for myself that there are no gods or supernatural forces. Upon hearing of this so-called lack of belief, it’s not entirely uncommon for people to ask that if I don’t believe in God then what do I believe? For me to ask myself the same question isn’t entirely uncommon either, here’s how my answer’s going so far, for now.

A long time ago a friend told me that I’m like a stone in a river. In the grand scheme of things that may not be much, but to all the other pebbles around me I’m a pretty important part of life. It’s the stupidest analogy I’ve ever heard – believe it or not that was my improved version – but how I view the world nowadays is pretty close. Just less stupid.

Preach to Me

When attempting to convert people to your religion via e-mail, if you are going to insert an inline image of Mel Gibson’s James Caviezel’s writhing scarred and bloodied body from the Passion of Christ it is best to add a warning to the top that any children in the room should be asked to look away. Otherwise what happens is I see “Good job on your site!”, scroll down, and then POW! Nightmares.

Regardless, I sent back a polite reply. Well… except maybe for the bit where I said that asking an atheist if they’ve always put God first seemed a bit redundant. Then I realised that while I had been composing my little piece someone had been leaving me nice anonymous “Go to church! Rraawr!” comments.

It doesn’t really pay to respond rationally, does it?

Those Atheists

I was surfing BE today when I came across this little statement:

Pray the Name of Jesus will bring down the atheistic strongholds in China.

Gee, that’s kind. I’m not in the mood to write up a long post about atheism right now, but when I do, I’ll be sure to keep you in mind sweetheart.
