Former TNA MP recalls LTTE brutal massacres-April 20, 2011
Former TNA MP recalls LTTE brutal massacres April 20, 2011 The LTTE had brutally murdered hundreds of innocent civilians during the final stage of the humanitarian operation. This has been revealed by former Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Parliamentarian Sathasivam Kanagaratnam to the Asian Tribune. Mr. Kanagaratnam said that he was in Mullivaikkal during the last days of the war. Revealing to the Asian Tribune about this period, Mr. Kanagaratnam said there were LTTE sentries around civilian residential places so that no one could flee. They began moving out of Mullivaikal on the evening of 17th May 2009. They hid in secret locations in the forest area and on the following succeeded in reaching the Government relief camps in Mullaitivu. During this period artilleries were fired at every place. In response to a query raised by Asian Tribune as to who were launching artillery attacks, the former TNA Parliamentarian said it was not possible for the Government troops to unleash such attacks on the no-fire zone declared by the Government itself. He pointed out that it was the LTTE which needed to prevent the civilians from traversing via the no fire zone. He was able to witness how the LTTE had located many artilleries round this zone. He recalled how many civilians died as a result of these attacks. Reminiscing the brutal murders that took place in LTTE controlled areas, he said he had a list of those murdered by the terrorists. The Education Officer of the Mullaitivu District ...
