On March 3, 2010, cast member Jim DeChamp posted on his personal Facebook page that MTV had cancelled the show.
As of May 2010, the show has been removed from MTV's Current Shows page.
On June 2, 2010 while touring with Nitro Circus in Australia, Travis Pastrana was asked if he would be continuing with the show. He replied "We'll see what happens when we get back to America".
On September 4, 2010, cast member Tommy Passemante announced on Twitter that "There will not be a season 3 of Nitro Circus. Bigger news to come."
On September 7, 2010, cast member Special Gregg Powell replied to numerous questions about a 3rd season of Nitro Circus, "How about Nitro Circus 3D Movie instead? Well, It's gonna happen so hang till summer 2011." This is most likely the bigger news that cast member (Street Bike) Tommy Passemante mentioned on September the 4th.
Besides the Nitro Crew, a number of other athletes and members of the production crew made regular on-screen appearances, including executive producers and creators Jeremy Rawle, Gregg Godfrey, Jeff Tremaine and Johnny Knoxville, mechanic Hubert Rowland, former motocross rider Ronnie Renner, pro wakeboarder Parks Bonifay, and pro skydiver Scott Palmer..
Again in an interview with Andy Bell, he stated that the planned "3D movie" will begin shooting in January and have a 2011 October release. He also mentioned that since breaking off from MTV, there are no restrictions in terms of health and safety, meaning the ideas will be even crazier.
On the 12th January 2011, Travis Pastrana officially announced on youtube that the 3D movie is on it's way.

Aaron Fotheringham (born November 8, 1991 in Las Vegas, Nevada) is an extreme wheelchair athlete who performs tricks adapted from skateboarding and BMX.
Fotheringham calls his activity ‘extreme sitting’. He claims to be the first person to successfully perform a backflip in a wheelchair at the age of 14 and a double backflip at the age of 18. He performs other tricks in his wheelchair including a 180 degree 'aerial'. He plans to fuse the back flip with the 180 aerial into what is known as a ‘flair’.
Fotheringham has Spina Bifida; he has used a wheelchair since the age of three and although he used crutches early on, he has been in a wheelchair fulltime since the age of eight. He would watch his brother riding his BMX at the skate park, and one day his brother told him that he should try riding his chair in the park. Aaron later noted that “I did, and I was hooked”.
Fotheringham got a new wheelchair, a Colours In Motion's Boing!" which was both lightweight and featured four wheel suspension. This enabled him to perform the same sorts of tricks that skateboarders and BMXers can do, as the suspension cushioned his landings. Aaron has further worked with Colours Wheelchairs to help refine their designs in real-world situations, and has been given a custom-made chair that is in his words ‘pretty much indestructible’.
Fotheringham advises others attempting to try these tricks to wear a helmet; he has suffered several injuries performing these tricks, including a broken elbow. He tries out new tricks by performing them first into a foam pit. Then he graduates to a ‘resi’, a harder plastic sheet over the cushions, before attempting the new trick on a regular skateboard ramp.
When asked about having to practice, Fotheringham responded "I don’t think of it as practice, I think of it as a fun way to live my life". In 2009, Fotheringham also served as a wheelchair double for Kevin McHale's character, Artie Abrams, in Glee.
