Purchase DVD here www.greatpacificmedia.com Segment from the program: Terrestrial Biomes: Deserts, Grasslands, and Forests. DVD Description Our Terrestrial Biomes DVD starts by introducing the four requirements of life - nutrients, energy, liquid water and temperatures appropriate for carrying out life processes and then goes on to explain the factors such as latitude, proximity to oceans, and elevation, that affect climate. Climates relationship to the type of vegetation found in a biome is then explained before introducing students to the major terrestrial biomes including tropical rainforests, temperate rainforests, deciduous forests, savannas, grasslands, chaparrals, taiga, tundra and deserts. Natural Wonders of the Caribbean 2 (2012) - Tropical Savannas
Tropical savannas refer to captivating pockets of trees and other natural botanical life within large expanses of grasses and shrubs. The wide range of vegetation in these savannas supports high levels of biodiversity. This feature highlights two of the well known savannas in the region -- The Aripo Savannas of Trinidad and The Rupununi Savannas of Guyana, noting their countless economic and environmental benefits, as well as the threats they face and ways to promote their protection.

Exclusive: Northern Thailand: Tuk Tuks and Drivins - Chang Mai
Northern Thailand is geographically characterised by multiple mountain ranges, which continue from the Shan Hills in bordering Myanmar and Laos, and the river valleys which cut through them. Though like most of Thailand, it has a tropical savanna climate, its relatively high altitude and latitude contribute to more pronounced seasonal temperature variation, with cooler winters than the other regions. Historically it is related to the Lanna Kingdom and its culture

It's a jungle out there: snakes and animals of northern Australia
On the remote Cape York Peninsula in Queensland, a town called Aurukun lies nestled in the largest intact area of tropical savanna in the world. Never systematically surveyed before, CSIRO scientists head deep into the wilderness to study native birds, mammals and reptiles and come up with a few surprises. In this vodcast, we follow the CSIRO team as they work to identify the ecology and determinants of wildlife pattern and change in northern Australia to help improve natural resource management by community and government organisations. The key focus is how this information can be used for natural resource managers and conservation planning, and the nexus between land management strategies and the pastoral, Indigenous and government land managers.
