Niyaz - Ghazal!
Niyaz - Ghazal!
The Track "Ghazal" is taken from Niyaz fantastic debut Album "NIYAZ" (2005). Listen and enjoy it. LYRICS "Ghazal" (Urdu poetry by Sauda): "Your heart cannot be won by me Nor can my soul bear this restlessness. Need is a burden which cannot be revealed Therefore I remain silent. Whenever you are before me My eyes fill with tears that are unable to flow, like an ocean that stands still At the sight of you passing by." Persian poetry by Rumi: "Come Beloved for today is all that is ours And like the ephemeral moments of a flower's bloom, it will fade. For tomorrow nothing my remain of me, my heart, or this world, if the radiance of your love reveals itself as it does today." About NIYAZ: "Niyaz (pronounced NEE-ahz) is an acoustic electronic project brings together members of VAS and AXIOM OF CHOICE to form an exciting new fusion of Persian and Indian influenced music with modern electronics. Jagjit Singh - The Ghazal King
Jagjit Singh - The Ghazal King
Jagjit Singh (8 February 1941 - 10 October 2011) was a prominent Ghazal singer, composer, music director, activist and entrepreneur. Known as "The Ghazal King", he gained acclaim together with his wife, also a renowned Indian Ghazal singer Chitra Singh. Together, they are considered to be the pioneers of modern Ghazal singing and regarded as most successful recording artistes outside the realm of Indian film music. During 1970s, the art of ghazal singing was dominated by well-established names like Noor Jehan, Malika Pukhraj, Begum Akhtar, Talat Mahmood and Mehdi Hassan. However, Singh was able to make his mark and carve out a niche for himself. Singh also sang for various songs in Bollywood films including Arth (song: 'tum itna jo muskura rahe ho'), Saath Saath, and Premgeet. Singh had a history of heart ailments. In January 1998, he suffered a heart attack, which led him to quit smoking. In October 2007, he was hospitalised following blood circulation problems. He died on 10 October 2011. His last concert was held on 20 September at The Indian Public School in Dehradun.
