Ronnie Ray Bryant (born October 18, 1975), better known by his stage name Baby Bash (formerly Baby Beesh), is a Mexican-American rapper. From 1995 to 1998, he performed under the stage name Baby Beesh, as part of the Vallejo, California group Potna Duece, after which he changed the last part of the name to Bash.^[2] His first album was On Tha Cool, with one of his greatest hits, "Vamanos"... His next album The Smokin' Nephew which included the singles "Suga Suga" and "Shorty Doowop". In 2005, Super Saucy was released, its lead single being "Baby I'm Back", a collaboration with singer Akon. Cyclone followed in 2007, with its title single featuring T-Pain and its follow-up, "What Is It" featuring Sean Kingston, landing on the Billboard charts as well.^[3]

He has frequently contributed to other performers' works, including a spot in the song "Obsession (No Es Amor)" by 3rd Wish released in Europe and later a U.S release with a copy / re- recording of the European version, performed by Frankie J in 2005 and "Doing Too Much" by Paula DeAnda in 2006.

Early life and career beginnings[link]

Ronnie Rey Bryant was born to a Mexican American mother and English-American father. Bryant was raised by his grandmother, and Bryant's father and uncles exposed him to many different types of musical genres. Initially, Bryant wanted to be a professional basketball player.^[2] He planned to play basketball for the junior college he attended in California during the mid-'90s. After tearing his ankle several times and not having it repaired with surgery, he permanently ended the possibility of ever playing basketball at even a semi-professional level.

Baby Bash's career began as part of the group Potna Duece in Vallejo, California. He went to Houston in 2000, where he met fellow rapper South Park Mexican.^[8] Prior to his success as a solo artist he, under the name "Baby Beesh", was part of rap groups Potna Deuce and Latino Velvet.^[9] Bash's debut album entitled Savage Dreams was released on the independent label Dope House Records in 2001.^[2] The album features guest performances by SPM, Frost, Jay Tee, Mr. Kee, Don Cisco and Merciless. On tha Cool is the second studio album by American rapper Baby Beesh, released June 11, 2002 on Dope House Records. It was produced by Happy P and Johnny Z. The acclaim he received soon caught the attention of Universal Records, who signed him later that year. In 2003, Baby Bash released his first album on a major label, Tha Smokin' Nephew. It debuted at number 48 on the Billboard 200. Five months after its release, the album was certified Gold by the RIAA. As of March 2005, the album has sold 531,000 copies in the United States. Menage a Trois is an independent label album (fifth album overall) by Baby Bash.

In 2005 Bash released Super Saucy. Super Saucy is the first official studio album (sixth album overall) by Baby Bash released in March 2005. He recently was featured in Paula DeAnda's first single "Doin' Too Much" from her debut album Paula DeAnda. His third studio album, Cyclone (initially titled Ronnie Rey All Day),^[10] was released in late October 2007. So far, Baby Bash has released three singles off the album: "Mamacita" featuring Marcos Hernandez, "Na Na (The Yummy Song)", and "Cyclone" featuring Mickaël & T-Pain. The month of the album release, Baby Bash became Myspace's #1 Latin artist,^[7] and the single "Cyclone" had over 750,000 digital and ringtone sales prior to the album's release.^[7] Baby Bash completed a film entitled Primos starring Chingo Bling and Danny Trejo. The comedy involves three cousins working in a bakery with dreams of making money, and is slated for a 2010 release.^[7] His major-label debut Tha Smokin' Nephew was well-received by Allmusic,^[11] but his 2007 album Cyclone was given mixed reviews, for example being panned by Rolling Stone magazine.^[12]

Bashtown is the fourth studio album by American hip hop artist Baby Bash. Released on March 22, 2011, it is the first of his albums to be released on Upstairs Records. Bashtown features production from Jim Jonsin, Printz Board, Happy P, Mickaël, J. Lacy, & C-Ballin and features vocal guests E-40, Paul Wall, Slim Thug, & Lloyd among others. According to Baby Bash, the album was entirely recorded in 2010, although many singles and the album were released in 2011. In December 2010, Baby Bash was offered a job as on-air personality for Wild 94.9, a Rhythmic Contemporary commercial radio station in San Francisco, California.^[1] In the same month, it was announced that Bash was endorsing a new energy drink for women named after his 2011 album's single, "Go Girl."^[1] Part of the sales proceeds from the energy drink will be donated to various charities for breast cancer and ovarian cancer research for women.^[1] His latest album Bashtown was released on March 22, 2011, and features guest appearances by Lloyd and E-40.^[1]

Baby Bash was arrested with Paul Wall the night of September 10, 2011 in El Paso, Texas for possession of marijuana. Both rappers were released the same night on $300 bail.

Francisco Javier Bautista, Jr. (born December 7, 1975),^[1] better known by his stage name Frankie J, is a Mexican singer and former member of the musical group Kumbia Kings.

Born in Tijuana, he grew up in San Diego and became a freestyle artist under the stage name Frankie Boy in the late 1990s. After his debut freestyle album was shelved, he joined Kumbia Kings. Frankie J's solo debut album, What's a Man to Do, was released in 2003, followed by some more English and Spanish language albums.

Early career[link]

Bautista was born in Tijuana, Mexico and raised in San Diego, California from the age of 2, after his uncle brought him and his siblings to the United States.^[2] He grew up listening to both traditional Latin music as well as American urban music.^[3] He attended Southwest Senior High School in San Diego.^[2] He later began to develop more interest in singing, with the encouragement of his family. At high school age, he began participating in talent shows and performing at school functions.^[4]

In 1997, Bautista signed with the now defunct Hola Recordings, the brainchild of dance music legend and producer Jellybean Benitez. At the time he was a freestyle artist known as Frankie Boy and his music was released on 3 Maximum Freestyle compilations but his solo CD was shelved before release.^[3]

Kumbia Kings (1999-2003)[link]

In 1999 he became a member of the Kumbia Kings created by A.B. Quintanilla III, brother of Selena. He performed under the name Cisco. Members included A.B. Quintanilla (bass, background vocals), DJ Kane (born Jason Cano; lead vocals), Frankie J/Cisko (born Francisco Javier Bautista, Jr; vocals), Baby Drew (born Andrew Maes; vocals), Cruz Martínez (keyboards), Alex Ramírez (keyboards), Roy "Slim" Ramírez (percussion, background vocals), Frankie Aranda (percussion), Jorge Peña (percussion), Jesse "O'Jay" Martínez (drums), and Robert Del Moral (drums). They released their debut album Amor, Familia Y Respeto in 1999. The album included hit singles like "Azúcar", "Fuiste Mala", "Reggae Kumbia", "Te Quiero A Ti" and "Se Fue Mi Amor". As Frankie J, Bautista signed as a solo artist with Columbia Records and released his first album What's A Man To Do on May 23, 2003. His self-titled first Spanish-language album Frankie J was also released later in the same year.^[5] The album's lead single "Don't Wanna Try" peaked at #19 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart, while "Ya No Es Igual" went Top 10 on the World Latin charts.^[6] Later that year, he was featured in the Top 10 Billboard Hot 100 hit "Suga Suga" by rapper Baby Bash.^[7]

His second album The One was released on March 22, 2005.^[8] It was led by the #3 Billboard Hot 100 hit "Obsession (No Es Amor)" featuring rapper Baby Bash, and followed by the Top40 singles "How To Deal" and "More Than Words". To coincide with the release of "More Than Words", the album was re-released on the DualDisc format in October.^[9] By January 2006, The One was certified platinum by the RIAA for shipping over a million copies.^[10] His second Spanish-language album Un Nuevo Dia was released on June 13, 2006 and featured the single "Pensado En Ti."^[6]

Frankie's third English-language CD, Priceless, was released on October 17, 2006. It debuted at #30 on the Billboard 200.^[11] The lead single "That Girl" featured Chamillionaire and Mannie Fresh and peaked at #43 on the Billboard Hot 100. Kingston was born on February 3, 1990, in Miami, Florida and moved to Kingston, Jamaica when he was six.^[2] He attended high school in Ocho Rios.^[3] His grandfather was the noted Jamaican reggae producer Lawrence Lindo,^[4] who worked under the stage name Jack Ruby.^[5][2] At age 11, Kingston spent 3 weeks in jail for breaking and entering, and Kingston lived in a car while his mother was incarcerated for identity theft.^[2][6]

Sean Kingston was discovered through MySpace by Tommy Rotem at Beluga Heights, and signed to the label in a partnership deal with Sony.^[7] Beluga is a label notable for its focus on discovering and developing artists.^[8] In an interview with HitQuarters label head and producer J.R. Rotem described this process with regards to Kingston:

"Sean Kingston was a rapper when we found him and it was a development process to get him more melodic. At Beluga we essentially refine the talent so that it's more of a marketable product."^[7]

In a venture between Epic Records and Koch Records, Kingston recorded and released the single "Beautiful Girls" in May 2007.^[9] The single, based on the bass line and lyrical "association" of the 1961 hit "Stand by Me" by Ben E. King, reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks and topped the UK Singles Chart along with many other international charts. Similarly, the song "Me Love" samples the main hook out Led Zeppelin's "D'yer Mak'er", from their 1973 album Houses of the Holy. The song also debuted at number one in Australia, where it knocked off Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry", which had been at number one for nine weeks. The song stayed on the Canadian Hot 100 number one spot for over six weeks before getting knocked down to third place by the Plain White T's. "Beautiful Girls" remained at number one in Canada longer than any other song in 2007. In 2007, Kingston was the opening act for Gwen Stefani's The Sweet Escape Tour and for select dates on Beyoncé's The Beyoncé Experience Tour. In 2008, he was one of the opening acts for the Australian leg of Kelly Clarkson's My December Tour.^[10] Since Sean is a Jamaican singer, he got his stage name "Kingston" from the capital of Jamaica called Kingston, Jamaica.

The album Tomorrow was released on September 22, 2009. Big-name producers involved in the album included former Fugee Wyclef Jean; RedOne (of recent Lady GaGa fame); plus Sean's original mentor, J.R. Rotem.^[11] So far, the singles "Fire Burning", and "Face Drop" have been released. Additionally, five promotional digital singles were released leading up to the album.

Kingston co-wrote Jason Derülo's "Whatcha Say". He also found the R&B-reggae singer Iyaz on MySpace and signed him to his record label.^[12] He also recorded the track "Miss Everything" for the UK girl-group Sugababes studio album Sweet 7 which was released March 15, 2010 in the UK. Kingston and DJ Khaled are being featured on Bow Wow's new single "For My Hood", from the upcoming movie, The Lottery Ticket.^[13]

2010–present: Back 2 Life, King Of Kingz and other projects[link]

According to Sean Kingston, he is already working on his next album. The lead single was confirmed to be "Dumb Love". The song's chorus samples 1957's, Come Go With Me by the Del Vikings. The song is also featured in a episode of The Suite Life on Deck which Kingston guest starred on. The album will also feature T-Pain, Nicki Minaj, Kanye West, Flo-Rida, Soulja Boy, Wyclef Jean, Akon and Dr. Dre.^[14][15] The first single from the album is "Eenie Meenie" featuring Justin Bieber, released on March 23, 2010,^[16] which is also included on Bieber's My World 2.0 album. This collaboration with the young star has been the source of much disapproval from the rap community. The second single from the album is "Letting Go (Dutty Love)", which features a verse from Nicki Minaj. It was released on iTunes August 3, while the third is "Dumb Love" and was released on iTunes September 8. Sean Kingston's new song "She Moves" samples Irena Cara's "What a Feeling" from the film Flashdance. This has not been release as a single. A fourth single "Party All Night (Sleep All Day)" was released on December 21, 2010. The song leaked online in December 2010. The music video has already been shot. The video was released on December 23, 2010. Sean said this would be the song of the new year.

Kingston represented the continent of America to sing the Official Theme Song of the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games, Everyone. He collaborated with four other international artists representing their continent, South African Jody Williams representing Africa, Singaporean Tabitha Nauser (Asia), Briton Steve Appleton (Europe), and Australian Jessica Mauboy representing Oceania.^[17] However, Kingston was unable to attend the Singapore Youth Olympics 2010 opening ceremony due to passport mix ups.^[18] Sean was invited to featured on Cash Money Records/former So So Def member Bow Wow on his single "For My Hood". He performed it with him along with DJ Khaled on BET's television program 106 & Park the day after release.

Sean Released his first mixtape King Of Kingz on February 3, 2011 as a free Download only. The mixtape includes guest appearances by Akon, Flo-Rida, Soulja Boy, Justin Bieber, B.O.B and Tory Lanez.

Kingston will release a mixtape with pop star Justin Bieber, called Our World. It will feature about 12–14 songs and includes their versions of songs like "Pretty Boy Swag" and "Billionaire". The mixtape is finished and Kingston showed his fans a preview on uStream on August, 19, 2010^{[citation needed]}. The release date is yet to be confirmed. Kingston also went on to perform on first leg of Bieber's tour. On April 25, 2011, Kingston performed at Cross Roads Hotel in front of 2,000 people in Lilongwe, Malawi. Kingston was recently in Zimbabwe performing there and is scheduled to perform in Ghana in June 2011. He performed a street concert on April 29, 2011, at Utah State University.^[19]

Kingston has announced that his new album will be called Back 2 Life.^[20] He also said in an interview with MTV that he would be completely re-doing the album and that the previous singles will not be on it. According to Sean's twitter the first single off the album will be released the first week in May 2012. Sean linked up with T.I. on set of the video for “Back 2 Life,” the street single off his upcoming album of the same name. The two shot the video in Los Angeles last week with comedian Mike Epps.

Activism[link]

Kingston filmed a public service announcement with Do Something to encourage teens to become active in their communities by forming a Do Something club.^[21] In 2010, he appeared with one of his dogs in an ad for PETA, encouraging people not to chain their dogs outside.^[22]

Jet skiing accident[link]

On May 29, 2011, Kingston was involved in a jet skiing accident in Miami Beach, Florida. Kingston and a female passenger were severely injured when their jet ski struck the bridge connecting Palm Island with the MacArthur Causeway at approximately 6 pm. He was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, where he was placed in the intensive care unit and listed in stable condition.^[1][23][24] He suffered a fractured wrist and broken jaw along with water in the lungs, but was expected to make a full recovery.^[25] On June 24, 2011, Kingston was discharged from hospital and continued his recovery at home.^[26]

Dana Bash (born Dana Ruth Schwartz; June 15, 1971) is an American reporter and anchorwoman for CNN who currently covers the Capitol Hill beat alongside John King and Jessica Yellin. Previous to this assignment, she was a White House correspondent for the network.

After completing her undergraduate political communications B.A. degree at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., she joined CNN as Dana Schwartz. Before becoming an on-air reporter, she was a producer for CNN on Capitol Hill, specializing in coverage of the U.S. Senate. Previous to that assignment, she produced for CNN's weekend programs, Late Edition, Evans & Novak and Inside Politics.

Early life and education[link]

Bash was born in Montvale, New Jersey and graduated from Pascack Hills High School in her hometown of Montvale.^[2] Bash graduated cum laude with her bachelor's degree in political communications from George Washington University.

Personal life[link]

Bash is the daughter of Stu Schwartz, an ABC News producer who is currently the senior broadcast producer of ABC News, based at Good Morning America. Her mother, Frances Weinman Schwartz, is an author and educator in Jewish studies. Bash's brother, David Schwartz, is a New York City-based video producer.

On May 25, 2008, she married fellow CNN correspondent John King, who converted to Judaism prior to marrying her.^[1] It is her second marriage, having previously been married to Jeremy Bash.^[3][4]

She and King have a son, Jonah Frank King, born in June 2011.^[5] In March 2012, it was announced that Bash and King had separated.^[6]

Controversies[link]

In January 2012, Revolution PAC (a super PAC associated with Ron Paul) called for Bash to be removed from reporting on the 2012 Republican Primaries.^[7] This followed a number of heated exchanges between Bash and Paul, and Bash saying during a CNN report that she was worried the Ron Paul campaign would continue into the summer, and that he could "hurt whomever the Republican nominee is." Revolution PAC alleged this showed bias against Paul, but a CNN spokesman said Bash had since met with Paul, and that all is fine and she would be allowed to continue covering the campaign.^[8]

At Paul's Campaign Headquarters in Iowa, Bash was also involved in a controversy involving an interview with army corporal Jesse Thorsen, where "technical difficulties" were blamed for an interview being cut short when Thorsen attempted to express his opinion that Israel could handle Iran by itself.^[9] Some Paul supporters point to the strange timing of the "technical difficulties" as being intentional and accused Bash of cutting Thorsen off because of his politics.^[10]

In January 2012, after a Campaign event in New Hampshire, Paul accused Bash of making a national news story out of the gripes of an alleged plant from another campaign posing as an unhappy former supporter in what was a non-story ^[11] Bash later likened Paul's "blind" supporters to those in the Arab-Israeli conflict.^[12]

On January 11, 2012, during an appearance on CNN's Newsroom, Bash characterized Paul's fiscal views as being "anti-government".^[13]
