I’m still humming along to “It’s Real”, and now Real Estate have another new jam for us to obsess over. “Green Aisles” is the latest track that the Jersey Boys have shared from new album Days (out 10/18 via Domino).
It’s not as immediate as “It’s Real” but it has plenty of moments of pure guitar bliss. Beautiful melodies leaves me feeling more comfortable than I have for days.
Download it below:

I love making lists. I’m the guy who just needs to compile a list of my favorite songs midway (a month late, I know..) through the year. I did one last summer and had a great time doing it, so I had to do another.
I meant to do this in July but life got in the way of that. We All Want Someone To Shout For turned three years old a few weeks ago, so think of this as a little thank you from me. Rather than just limited the list to only 50 songs, I splurged even more with 70. I just didn’t want to leave any of these songs out because I believe they all deserve some spotlight.
This is by no means final, you never know what my list will look like come December. I offer it to you as a way for you to get close with the songs that I have in 2011. I included a mp3 stream of each, and for a limited time you can download the entire thing as a ZIP file. I know it may be overwhelming to some, but give it a d/l spin some songs, and come back to it later. If you like the music, search the artist and support them by buying their music on itunes, amazon, or going to see a show.
I hope you enjoy listening to these songs as much as I have. Without further ado, I present to you We All Want Someone To Shout For’s Best Songs Of 2011…So Far:
Lots of cool stuff came out this month. Here’s just some of the songs that I found myself rocking out to the most. I left some songs from July off on purpose because it’s likely going to make an appearance on a different list I have coming up soon.
As always, thanks to the magician himself, Camilo Bejarano for the album art that is posted above. He never disappoints.
Stream each track individually, and download a mix of all of them in order with the album art at the end of the post. Enjoy!

Stereogum has honored the 10th Anniversary of The Strokes masterpiece, Is This It, but recruiting various indie bands to cover the album. The bands up for the task range from established acts like The Morning Benders, Peter Bjorn & John, Owen Pallett, and Real Estate.
If you head to Stereogum, you can find liner notes from each artist, explaining their contribution. You can download the whole album as well.
Take a lsiten to my favorite covers below. The Morning Benders once again prove why they’re one of the best new bands around. They made one of the most popular songs of recent memory sound fresh. That’s how you do a cover, folks:

Real Estate have released a jangly new song titled “It’s Real” that is taken from their new album, Days (out October 18 via Domino). The lovely vocal’s and jangly guitars add up to create a memorable track that Real Estate have practically made their signature.
The band originally hails from Ridgewood, New Jersey, which is pretty close to me in Orangeburg, New York. As close to hometown as it gets for me. Close enough.

The band is playing a free show on July 23 at Prospect Park Bandshell along with The Feelies, and Times New Viking. Check out the rest of their tour dates and the tracklisting for Days after the jump:
There may not be another New York festival like All Points West, there are others options in the tri-state area such as B.O.M.B. Fest. It’s a festival that takes place at Comcast Theatre in Hartford, Connecticut. It’s a festival that mixes large acts with smaller acts, along with local bands from Connecticut. The best part is, the festival is a charity. It’s a non-profit organization where all money raised goes towards funding music & arts programs in schools and arts scholarships.
The festival features the likes of Weezer, Snoop Dogg, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, The New Pornographers, Against Me!, Best Coast, Titus Andronicus, The Cool Kids, Wavves, Man Man, Dum Dum Girls, Freelance Whales, Holy Fuck, Free Energy, Woods, Real Estate plus many more. It’s got quite a diverse selection of artists. There’s sure to something for everyone.
The two day festival takes place on May 28th & May 29th. For more info head to their site. I know a lot of you are looking for a festival, but don’t want to venture out to Coachella, Bonnaroo, or Lollapolooza. So if your in the tri-state area, this may work better for you.
Real Estate are back with a pretty fantastic new single called “Out Of Tune” that you can hear now. The 7″, backed by b-side “Resevoir’” will be out on True Panther on October 12th. “Out Of Tune” is a shining song with a killer melody. It’s pretty.
Stream it below:
The 7″ single is available to pre-order right here.
I was reading BrooklynVegan, and their post about a potentially new festival caught my attention. Mountrain Man Fest. It would take place at Saratoga Springs on July 24th. The artists that they have lined up are Islands, Health, Phantogram, Real Estate, Eternal Summers, Cults, Woods, Summer Camp, MemoryHouse, Family Portrait, and Yip Yip. Basically, all blog favorites.
Now, I did say that this only has the “potential” to happen. Why? Well, it isn’t…funded yet. The people behind it are trying to raise money via a Kickstarter Page with a goal of a whopping $65,000 by a May 12th deadline. Woah. In order to get a ticket for the show, you need to donate at least $35. It is a good showcase for many great upcoming acts, so if you are around town, you should really consider helping this project out.
I will have the money soon, and once I do, I will donate. You should do the same!
