Like many countries around the world, Singapore's economy has been hit by the global downturn. It will be a stern test for the city-state's government as the recession bites and more Singaporeans lose their jobs, especially as the authorities have been encouraging foreign 'talent' to come to live in the city-state.

SINGAPORE: Second Home Affairs Minister S Iswaran has said the scope of police powers under a proposed new Bill aimed at allowing authorities to continue with measures to maintain public order in Little India is far more limited than the extensive powers under existing laws. Current restrictions in Little India, in the wake of the December 8 riot, come under a provision under the Public Order (Preservation) Act (POPA). But this law, said Mr Iswaran, was conceived to deal with far graver situations. It comes with broad and extensive police powers -- many of which, he said, are excessive and unneccesary for the purpose of maintaining public order in Little India. Mr Iswaran said: "With each proclamation, which has been the case for every weekend and public holiday since the riot, the ent...

The Government accepts liability and will compensate the family of prison inmate Dinesh Raman s/o Chinnaiah, Min. S Iswaran said in Parliament. Raman passed away on 27 September 2010, after he was restrained and relocated to a cell following his unprovoked attack on a prison officer.
was keiner begriff.
was keiner begriff.
was keiner begriff.
Es gab so viele Schiffe
so schön und so groß
doch die Mary Ann
die ließ ihn nicht los.
Mary Ann war sein Schiff
er hielt ihr die Treue
was keiner begriff.
Es gab so viele Schiffe
so schön und so groß
doch die Mary Ann
die ließ ihn nicht los.
