Keighley & Worth Valley Railway 'Winter Steam Gala' - Saturday 11th February 2012
Keighley & Worth Valley Railway 'Winter Steam Gala' - Saturday 11th February 2012
A bitterly cold way to start the KWVR's calender of events this year with their annual Winter Steam Gala. The event this year saw the return to action of one of the lines most famous residents, the National Trust owned and cared for by the Bahamas Locomotive Society LNWR 0-6-2 'Coal Tank', best known by her LNWR number as 1054 but for the event she appeared as her BR number 58926. The visiting engine came in the form of another LNWR loco, this time the National Railway Museum's G2a 0-8-0 Class 49395 which was renumbered twice of the course of the weekend. The full line up was; |LNWR 'Coal Tank' 0-6-2 58926 (Gala debut after relaunch into service) |LNWR G2a Class 'Super D' 49395 (From the National Collection and ran as 49442 during my visit) |L&Y Class 25 0-6-0 957 |Midland Railway 4f Class 43924 |BR (M) Ivatt 2MT Class 41241 |BR Standard 4MT Class 80002 |Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0 Tank 1704 'Nunlow' The line was still covered in the snow from the previous week's snow fall and made for some fantastic photographs, although the late running and bitterly cold air made it a hard task but it was still another enjoyable event held by the KWVR. Shots included in this video: |58926 & Nunlow shunt the goods into the headshunt at Keighley |43924 rolls forward through Keighley station with ECS |43924 departs Haworth, heading for Keighley |49395 (as 49442) climbs the bank towards a rather snowy Haworth Station |41241 and 43924 charge through the worth valley heading for Oxenhope, seen from ...
