An email what I got

A sad reflection...

on the state of Australian society, that a newspaper (Saturday Age) would publish the vile blasphemy of your writing. I do not attend any films, only view those on TV that date back forty years or more, because the modern ones appear to be laden with the sort of blasphemy contained in the article I read. Do not be under any illusion, Mr Pobjie. Blashemers will be punished. In the Ten Commanments, only one carries an extra threat: 'Do not use God's name carelessly, because the Lord will not lightly acquit those who misuse His name' (loose translation of third Commandment). Australia never was, is not now, a Christian country, but all the good things about Australia have come from the Christian influence that was more evident in past centuries.

If you have any moral character at all, Mr Pobjie, I sugest a printed apology would be appropriate, if you ever get to write for The Age again

Wow....
Bible quote cherry pickers. Gotta love them.

It would be more dignified to simply ignore it as the indignant rantings of a misguided follower of the invible sky bully... Or you could ask them if they obey all of these, and if not why not.

Repent! Repent, vile blasphemer!

But do it funny like.

If his email was a response to your article reveiwing American Horror Story then I suggest Arthur should stick to only reading newspapers that are over 40 years old too.

Alternatively, he could be forced (in A Clockwork Orange style) to read The God Delusion or The End of Faith while being filmed. Chances are we would get to see a man eat his own head.

Re publishing this shit is not clever. Delete it pronto.

The effect is like naming the mad bombers/assassins of history - it only encourages copycats.

This comment will self destruct in three days.

Why do crazies treat the words of satorialists more seriously than murders and politicians? Or why don't crazies treat the words of satorialists more seriously than murders and politicians?

As a Christian, I would tell him to go fuck himself.

He makes a good point this guy. Its the "extra threat" that really makes you think.

Sure; usually something dictated by the Lord with a threat attached is something to be fearful of. You may even go out of your way to abide by it when its convenient.

But what you really have to be careful about are the rules that come with an extra helping of threat-iness. Those puppies you tip toe around and if caught, you blame it on your best friend.

If this was a response to your American Horror Story article let it be known I had to read the article no less than 5 times, yes 5 to find any reference to God.

Censorship is a terrible thing, is it not?

I read this blog recently and saw a comment to the effect that re-publishing this sort of stuff is only encouraging to the nutters.

And that comment has now vanished. Censorship by the great Mr Pobjie?

I expect this comment will be censored as well. Prove me wrong.

No. I've never deleted anyone else's comments on my blog.

Apologies then, Ben.

You excel at parody; it might just be your forte. The parodies of Virginia's letter, Lazarus Rising and Bob and Dave are truly excellent.

If you seek suggestions, perhaps a Kevin Donnelly parody, or that twerp Joel (?) the holy roller.

I suppose the original needs to be truly famous to get a wide coverage; perhaps other readers have a suggestion?

@ Doug Quixote:

Chris Berg parody - difficult to make it interesting, but Ben could probably do it.

Anthony Cox / John McLean parody - parody required or does their work already constitute parody?

This made me LOL. It's the only appropriate response.
