The Television Personalities is an English group with a varying line-up. The only constant member is singer–songwriter Dan Treacy (b. June 19, 1960), who uses the band as a vehicle for his music. The band's first release (January 1978) was the single "14th Floor / Oxford Street W1". Its second release, the EP ''Where's Bill Grundy Now?'' features one of its best-known songs, "Part Time Punks".

The Television Personalities' first album ''And Don't the Kids Just Love It'' was released in 1981. It set the template for their subsequent career: neo-psychedelia, an obsession with youth culture of the 1960s, a fey, slightly camp lyrical attitude, and the occasional classic pop song. Their second album ''Mummy Your Not Watching Me'' [sic] demonstrated increased psychedelic influences. Their third album, entitled ''They Could Have Been Bigger Than The Beatles'' showed Treacy's sense of humour: the TVPs were never to have any major commercial success in the UK – although their albums sold respectably in Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands. The first three albums featured Treacy and schoolmate Ed Ball; Ball left the band to found The Times, but rejoined in 2004.

The band were offered the support slot on Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour's 1984 UK solo dates, but were promptly dropped after reading out former Pink Floyd member Syd Barrett's home address.

The 1985 album ''The Painted Word'' was unexpectedly dark in content, reflecting Treacy's despair at Thatcherite Britain and his personal circumstances.

Various line up changes prevented their next album (''Privilege'') from appearing until 1990. Their subsequent album ''Closer to God'' was a combination of fey sixties style pop and darker material, similar in tone to ''The Painted Word''.

The album ''Don't Cry Baby, It's Only a Movie'' was released in 1998.

From 1998 to June 2004 Dan Treacy was incarcerated for shoplifting to feed his drug habit. He spent time aboard HM Prison ship the Weare in Portland Harbour, Dorset, England. He has referred to the Weare as "The Good Ship Lollipop". The experience helped him put his life and career back on track.

In February 2006 a new TVPs album ''My Dark Places'' was released. Despite their relatively small independent sales the TVPs were very influential on British music in the 1980s, especially the so-called C86 generation and many of the bands on Creation Records.

In an article in ''The Guardian'' on 24 April 2006, it was implied that Dan Treacy is in some way behind the Arctic Monkeys, although this is based on little more than a perceived similarity between their lyrical style and that of Treacy, and the fact that the lead singer of Arctic Monkeys, Alex Turner is mysteriously not credited with their songwriting.

Treacy is notorious for the numerous popular culture references and in-jokes scattered throughout the TVPs' lyrics, album titles and record artwork. Most of the references are to (mostly British) cult films, 1960s culture and forgotten or underappreciated musicians and celebrities.

Woody Allen – The song "Little Woody Allen" is named after the American filmmaker. He is also mentioned in "Salvador Dali's Garden Party."

''The Angry Silence'' – The first song on the TVPs' debut full-length is called "''This'' Angry Silence."

''Dr. Strangelove'' – "How I Learned to Love the Bomb" is named after the full title of this Stanley Kubrick film.

''The Elephant Man'' – "Arthur the Gardener" features a quote from this David Lynch film.

''Girl on a Motorcycle'' – The TVPs have a song named after this Marianne Faithfull/Alain Delon film.

''Grand Illusion'' – "La Grande Illusion" (the film's original French language title) is the name of a song on the TVPs' debut album.

''If....'' – The Lindsay Anderson film (starring Treacy favourite Malcolm McDowell) is quoted in several songs, including "Paradise Is For The Blessed" and "Not Even a Maybe."

''Privilege'' – The name of the band's fifth album is taken from this 1967 film by Peter Watkins. The band's third album credits Steven Shorter (the main character of ''Privilege'') as producer.

''Smashing Time'' – One of the TVPs' early singles was named after this Swinging London comedy.

Celebrities, musicians and artists

Syd Barrett – The band's debut album features a song called "I Know Where Syd Barrett Lives." In imitation of Barrett's own solo work and Pink Floyd's Brain Damage, the song is significantly calmer than the rest of the album, and features mildly psychedelic studio effects (such as chirping birds). They also recorded a cover version of "Apples and Oranges" (the last Pink Floyd single written by Barrett) for ''Beyond the Wildwood'', an indie tribute to Syd Barrett and Pink Floyd released in 1987.

The Byrds – The Byrds song "Eight Miles High" is frequently quoted both lyrically and musically by Treacy. The guitar solo on "King & Country" is based on the one in "Eight Miles High." Byrds member Roger McGuinn is also mentioned in the song "You, Me and Lou Reed"

Salvador Dalí – The TVPs' fifth album, ''Privilege'', features a song called "Salvador Dali's Garden Party."

David Hockney – "David Hockney's Diaries" is the name of a song on the band's second album

The Jam – In "Geoffrey Ingram", Geoffrey and the narrator go to see The Jam play at the Marquee Club. Jam song titles are also quoted in TVPs lyrics, and the song "And Don't The Kids Just Love It" mentions Jam bassist Bruce Foxton getting all the girls.

Roy Lichtenstein – The TVPs' label, Whaam!, was named after one of Lichtenstein's paintings. "Lichtenstein Painting" is the name of a song on the band's second album. An earlier version of the song (released by Treacy under the name The Gifted Children) was called "Lichtenstein Girl"

Joan Miró – "An Exhibition by Joan Miro" is a song on the band's fifth album.

The Monochrome Set – Treacy references this band, contemporaries of the Television Personalities.

Joe Orton – The British playwright's death at the hands of his lover Kenneth Halliwell is referenced in the song "God Snaps His Fingers" (the song's title is itself a quote from a novel co-written by Orton and Halliwell). The song "The Good and Faithful Servant" is named after one of Orton's plays.

Joe Strummer – The lead singer of The Clash is mentioned in "Happy Families", along with Poly Styrene.

The Sharon Tate murders (1969) are referred to in the hand painted version of the "They Could Have Been Bigger Than the Beatles" album cover.

Rita Tushingham – The actress is mentioned in "Favourite Films." Several films of her films from the 1960s are also mentioned in TVPs songs.

Victor Vasarely – The painter is mentioned in "The Painter Word Pt. 2." Fellow Op Art artist Bridget Riley has a song named after her ("I Remember Bridget Riley").

Andy Warhol – The Pop Art maverick is often mentioned in Television Personalities songs.

The O-Level – Ed Ball's other band at the time, mentioned in "Part Time Punks".

In the song "Goodnight Mr. Spaceman", Treacy relates that he wishes he'd signed to Alan McGee's Creation label (McGee was an avid supporter of the TVPs), feels like Edvard Munch, and can't dance like Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie.

Christine Keeler – UK model and showgirl famous for the Profumo affair. The idol of the girl in "A Day in Heaven".

Charles Manson – US cult leader. Mentioned in "A Day in Heaven" where the "good girl" of the song wants to kiss him.

In-jokes

Geoffrey Ingram – Ingram (sometimes spelled Ingrams) is a character from Shelagh Delaney's play "A Taste of Honey" (which was made into a popular film starring Rita Tushingham in 1961). He is often quoted and referenced in the TVPs' early work. The TVPs' debut album has a song about him (titled simply "Geoffrey Ingram").

Fake Producers – The band's self-produced albums often credit fictional producers. (Example: The first album is "produced" by "Vic Hammersmith-Broadway", an amalgamation of Jam producer Vic Coopersmith-Heaven and a lyric from "Geoffrey Ingram": "Geoffrey's got a nice new suit, he bought it yesterday/Ten pounds in an Oxfam shop near Hammersmith Broadway")

Bone Thugs-n-Harmony is an American hip hop band from Cleveland, Ohio formed in 1991. It originally consisted of rappers Layzie Bone, Flesh-n-Bone, Bizzy Bone, Krayzie Bone, and Wish Bone. Rapper Eazy-E of the group N.W.A signed Bone Thugs-n-Harmony to Ruthless Records in 1994, when Bone Thugs debuted with EP ''Creepin on ah Come Up''. The EP included the hit single "Thuggish Ruggish Bone.

In 1995, the group released its second album, ''E. 1999 Eternal'', which included hits "1st of tha Month" and "Tha Crossroads." A tribute to the recently deceased Eazy-E, "Tha Crossroads," won a Grammy award in 1997. ''The Art of War'', the group's third album, was also released in 1997.

In 2000 ''BTNHResurrection'' reached platinum in one month and ''Thug World Order'' (2002) received more moderate sales and promotion. After the album the group went on hiatus and released their sixth studio album ''Thug Stories'' independently before returning in 2007 with the major label release ''Strength & Loyalty'', this time released by Swizz Beatz's label Full Surface Records. Bone Thugs-n-Harmony officially returned with their new album ''Uni-5: The World's Enemy'', released in 2010 by their own record label, BTNH Worldwide, with distribution by Warner Bros.. Due to internal conflicts with the group, longtime members Krayzie Bone and Wish Bone officially left the group in April 2011. Despite speculation that the group was splitting up, Flesh-n-Bone announced that a new album with him, Layzie and Bizzy will be released soon. Krayzie and Wish are currently working with upcoming artists on their label The Life Ent.

B.O.N.E Enterpri$e Early years

The group formed the band B.O.N.E. Enterpri$e consisted of five members: Krayzie Bone, Layzie Bone, Bizzy Bone, Wish Bone and Flesh-n-Bone and recorded an album entitled Faces Of Death in the studio of their then mentor, Kermit Henderson (Krayzie Bone's younger brother) on his indie label Stoney Burke in 1993. The group renamed itself Bone Thugs-n-Harmony. In November 1993, the group auditioned backstage for rapper Eazy-E. Krayzie Bone performed his verse of "Flow Motion" from the Faces of Death album and Eazy-E was impressed. Eazy-E signed the group (minus Flesh-n-Bone) to his label Ruthless Records.

Ruthless Records

''Creepin on ah Come Up''

Released in June 1994, the EP ''Creepin on ah Come Up'', was Bone Thugs-n-Harmony's debut with Ruthless. Peaking at #12 on the ''Billboard'' 200 album chart and #2 on the Top R&B;/Hip-Hop Albums chart, it included the hit singles "Thuggish Ruggish Bone" and "Foe tha Love of $", the second of which featured a verse by Eazy-E. "Thuggish Ruggish Bone" peaked at #22 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart and #2 on the Hot Rap Tracks chart, and "Foe tha Love of $" peaked at #41 on the Hot 100 and #4 on the Rap Tracks. The EP marked a major change in style for the group, as they now fully embraced the G-Funk common in West Coast hip-hop of the time. It was the group's first collaboration with producer DJ U-Neek, who would craft the group's signature sound by producing the majority of their next two albums.

''E. 1999 Eternal''

In 1995, the group's second album ''E. 1999 Eternal'' was released. It included the singles "1st of tha Month", which peaked at #14 on the Hot 100 and #4 on the Hot Rap Tracks, and "Tha Crossroads", which reached #1 on the Hot 100 and Hot Rap Tracks charts. The album name originated from Eazy-E's album, Eternal E, naming it after Eazy-E's album was just another way of showing respect and tribute to the rapper that helped make them big. In the same year, Flesh-n-Bone would become the first member of the group to release a debut album entitled T.H.U.G.S. Though not made official the album has sold well over 10 million and should have a Diamond status but the record label (Ruthless Records) are not paying to have it certified.

According to LA based recording engineer Dave 'rainman' Banta the album is nearing up to 20 Million Sales (2x Diamond) Making it one of the highest selling Rap/Hip-Hop Albums of all time. The information was passed onto him by both Group member Layzie bone and also the Co founder and CEO of Ruthless Records Jerry Heller

''The Art of War''

In 1997, the group released the double-disc set ''The Art of War''. The album was rumored to be called "DNA Level C" which is Cleveland backwards. The single "Look into My Eyes" appeared on the soundtrack of the film ''Batman & Robin''. It peaked at #4 on the Hot 100 and #2 on the Hot Rap Tracks chart. "If I Could Teach the World", the other single from ''The Art of War'', peaked at #27 on the Hot 100 and #3 on the Hot Rap Tracks.

''BTNHResurrection''

In 2000, the group released ''BTNHResurrection''. The album featured the single "Resurrection (Paper, Paper)", which peaked on the Hot R&B;/Hip-Hop Songs chart at #52. Flesh-n-Bone was convicted for assault with a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon in June 2000. Pleading guilty, Flesh-n-Bone was sentenced to 11 years in prison. Bizzy Bone abstained from promoting ''BTNHResurrection'' because he felt that Ruthless Records owed him money. He dropped a million-dollar lawsuit he filed against Sony Music and Loud Records in exchange for a termination of his Sony contract. Three members of Bone Thugs-n-Harmony released solo albums in 2001: Bizzy Bone with ''The Gift'', Layzie Bone with ''Thug by Nature'', and Krayzie Bone with ''Thug on da Line''.

''Thug World Order''

In 2002, the group released ''Thug World Order''. The album debuted at #12 on the ''Billboard'' 200, and its single "Home" that featured Phil Collins performing part of his song "Take Me Home" peaked at #33 on the Rhythmic Top 40. Bizzy Bone was expelled from the group in January 2003 thus leaving only 3 active members Krayzie Bone, Layzie Bone & Wish Bone.

After Ruthless

''Thug Stories''

''Thug Stories'', Bone Thugs-n-Harmony's sixth album was recorded on Koch Records and released on September 19, 2006. It marked the first time Bone Thugs-n-Harmony recorded as a trio. ''Thug Stories'' sold 38,000 in its first week and peaked at #25 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the Independent Album Chart.

''Strength & Loyalty''

Originally to be called ''The Bone Thugs Story'', ''Strength & Loyalty'' was released on May 8, 2007. Being their first major album after an absence of nearly five years, the album debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on iTunes and the Billboard Urban Music charts. The album contains guest appearances by Mariah Carey, The Game, will.i.am, Akon, Twista, Bow Wow, Yolanda Adams, and Felecia.

Producers on the album included Swizz Beatz, Akon, Pretty Boy & Bradd Young, DJ Toomp, Jermaine Dupri, will.i.am, and others. The executive producer of the album was Swizz Beatz. The first single was "I Tried", which was their first top 10 hit in 10 years, having peaked at number 6 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The second single was "Lil Love", which failed to reach the success of their first single. The album has been certified Gold by the RIAA.

''T.H.U.G.S.''

''T.H.U.G.S.'' is an album featuring previously unreleased, largely remixed Bone Thugs-n-Harmony songs that didn't make the final cut of ''BTNHResurrection'' and ''Thug World Order'' albums. It was released on November 13, 2007 by their former record label, Ruthless Records. The sole single off the album was "Young Thugs", which was accompanied by a newly-filmed music video featuring Krayzie, Layzie, Bizzy and Wish.

Reunion

In November 2007, Layzie Bone confirmed that he had completed the ''Bone Brothers III'' album with Bizzy Bone, spurring speculation of a full Bone reunion. In a video interview, Krayzie Bone stated that they all wanted to reunite but that record label issues may prevent an official reunion. Bizzy Bone had attended a Bone Thugs performance during the time and he and the three then-standing members had a "good conversation".

After nearly a decade of incarceration, Flesh-n-Bone was released from prison on July 13, 2008. In an interview, Bizzy confirmed his return to the group, after them all getting together by the time of Flesh's release.

''Uni5: The World's Enemy''

Bone Thugs-n-Harmony five members officially returned with their new album Uni-5: The World's Enemy, released in 2010 by their own record label, BTNH Worldwide, with distribution by Warner Bros. They released the singles See Me Shine featuring Lyfe Jennings and Rebirth. A third single, "Meet Me in the Sky", was released on March 22. ''Uni-5: The World's Enemy'' was released on May 4, 2010.

Style and technique

Bone's style and technique can be described as melodic, yet rapid-fire and aggressive. Their flow is often interwoven at a high-speed, melodic pace or slow, harmonic pace. They also tend to ride the beat that they're rapping over. Sometimes there are very few choruses separating their verses from one another. In the beginning, circa Faces of Death, Bone used a pseudo-Jamaican patois delivery with their trademark style, though they rarely do this now. Bone's subject matter has both spiritual and occult undertones (e.g., "Hell Sent", "Intro", "Mr. Ouija", "Mr. Ouija 2" and "Da Introduction"). At first, their subject matter was almost always exclusively about violence and smoking marijuana. Today, however, their subject matter includes other topics such as urban socio-political issues, their old friend and mentor Eazy-E and religion. Besides minor changes to subject matter and sound, their lyrical style, elocution, and overall methodology remain intact and have influenced many new artist's today who have picked up this unique style.

Krayzie Bone & Wish Bone Departure

On the 14th of April 2011, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony member Krayzie Bone announced he left the group after 20 years citing uncontrollable circumstances along with Wish Bone to pursue their solo careers further and release records on their label, The Life Entertainment. Flesh-n-Bone stated that him leaving the group was a serious disrespect mark towards Eazy-E and says "He might as well say fuck Eazy!" and that he (Krayzie) knows where home is if he wants to come back to the group. Due to Flesh being angered, his retaliation led him towards the idea of an album titled "Majority Rules" but Bizzy Bone in a later interview stated that this is not official and it was just his thoughts spoken out of anger towards Krayzie.

Victoria Leigh Blum (born October 15, 1955), professionally recognized as Tanya Roberts, is an American actress best known for her role in as Julie Rogers on the fifth and final season of ''Charlie's Angels'' (1980-1981) and as Midge Pinciotti on ''That '70s Show'' (1998-2001).

She later headlined the films: ''The Beastmaster'', ''A View to a Kill'', and ''Sheena''. Roberts was groomed as a Hollywood sex symbol during the early 1980s.

Early life

Blum was born in The Bronx of Irish and Jewish descent. Her father was an ink pen salesman. Her parents divorced when she was a teenager. She lived with her mother in Toronto for several years, where she started formulating a photo portfolio and laying plans for a career. At age 15, she abandoned her studies to marry and lived for a while hitch-hiking across the United States, until her mother-in-law annulled the union.

She returned to New York City and became a fashion and cover model. After meeting a psychology student, Barry Roberts (while waiting in line for a movie), she proposed to him in a subway station and they were soon married. While Barry pursued a career as a screenwriter, she began to study at the Actors Studio with Lee Strasberg and Uta Hagen under the name Tanya Roberts.

Acting career

1970s

Her career began as a model in TV ads for Ultra Brite, Clairol and Cool Ray sunglasses. She played serious roles in the Off-Broadway productions, ''Picnic'' and ''Antigone''. She also supported herself as an Arthur Murray dance instructor. Her film debut was the 1975 thriller, ''Forced Entry''. This was followed in 1976 by ''The Yum-Yum Girls'', a comedy.

In 1977, as her husband was securing his own screenwriting career, the couple moved to Hollywood. The following year, Roberts participated in the drama, ''Fingers''. Roles in the 1979 cult-movie, ''Tourist Trap'', ''Racket'' and ''California Dreaming'' followed. Roberts was featured in several television pilots that were never picked up: ''Zuma Beach'' (a 1978 comedy); ''Pleasure Cove'' (1979); and ''Waikiki'' (1980).

1980s

In 1980, Roberts was chosen from some 2,000 candidates to replace Shelley Hack in the television series, ''Charlie's Angels'' (in what would be the last season of the series). She was featured on the February 9, 1981 cover of ''People'' magazine and afterward was offered more ambitious projects. In 1982, Roberts played Kiri in ''The Beastmaster''. She was featured in a nude pictorial in ''Playboy'' to help promote the movie, appearing on that issue's October 1982 cover.

In 1983, Roberts filmed the Italian-made, and little-known adventure, ''Paladini-storia d'armi e d'amori'' (''Paladins—the story of love and arms''; also released as ''Hearts and Armour''), based on the medieval novel, ''Orlando Furioso''. She played the role of Velda, a buxom secretary to private detective, Mike Hammer, in the television movie, ''Murder Me, Murder You''. The two-part pilot spawned the syndicated television series, ''Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer''. She declined to continue the role in the Mike Hammer series so she could work on her next project, ''Sheena: Queen of the Jungle''. The movie was a box office and critical disaster, garnering her a nomination for "Worst Actress" at the Razzie Awards.

Her subsequent appearance as Bond girl, Stacey Sutton, a well-educated and articulate geologist, in ''A View to a Kill'' (1985), which provided her a number of scenes with Roger Moore's James Bond. She again found herself nominated by the critics for a Razzie Award. Her career took a downturn. Later films in the 1980s included ''Body Slam'' (1987), an action movie set in the professional wrestling world; and ''Purgatory'', a movie about a woman wrongfully imprisoned in Africa.

1990spresent

In 1991, Roberts starred in the erotic thriller, ''Inner Sanctum'' (1991), alongside Margaux Hemingway. In 1992, she played Kay Egan in ''Sins of Desire''. She appeared on the cable TV series, ''Hot Line'', in 1994; and in the video game, ''The Pandora Directive'', in 1996.

In 1998, she took the role of Midge Pinciotti on the successful, long-running television sitcom, ''That '70s Show''. Roberts claimed to ''E! True Hollywood Story'' that she left the series in 2001 because her husband, Barry Roberts, had become terminally ill. Barry Roberts died in 2006. In 2008, Tanya Roberts wrote the foreword to the book, ''The Q Guide to Charlie's Angels''.

Andrea Jung (鍾彬嫻, pinyin: Zhōng Bīnxián) (born 1959 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada) is a Canadian-American business executive. In 2001, she was named one of the 30 most powerful women in America by ''Ladies Home Journal''.

Jung is chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Avon Products, Inc., promoted to the position in November 1999. Prior to this, she was president and chief operating officer over all business units of Avon worldwide. She has been on the company's board of directors since 1998.

Jung first came to Avon in 1994 as the company's president in its product marketing group. She became president of global marketing in 1996 and executive vice president/president of global marketing and new business in 1997. Her responsibilities at that time centered primarily around market research, joint ventures and strategic planning.

Previously, she was executive vice president of Neiman Marcus, where she handled issues regarding accessories, intimate women's apparel, cosmetics and children's wear. Before that, she was senior vice president, general merchandising manager, for I. Magnin.

Jung has been on the board of directors of General Electric since 1998.

She joined Apple's board of directors on 7 January 2008.

Jung is a ''magna cum laude'' graduate of Princeton University and is fluent in Mandarin. Jung was named one of ''Forbes'' 100 Most powerful women in 2004. In 2009, Forbes ranked her the 25th most powerful woman. Her ex-husband, Michael Gould, is the CEO of Bloomingdale's, the company where she had her first job.

Her mother is a Shanghai-born chemical engineer-turned concert pianist. Jung's father is a Hong Kong-born partner at an architectural firm who also taught at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Andrea Jung was raised in Wellesley, Massachusetts.

Compensation

While CEO of Avon Products in 2009, Jung received a total compensation of $6,997,015, which included a base salary of $1,375,000, a cash bonus of $3,043,906, options granted of $2,395,162, as well as $182,947 in other compensation.
