BRASSAÏ music by Phillip Wilcher "CONSOLATION"
CONSOLATION Composed and Played by PHILLIP WILCHER www.phillipwilcher.com www.youtube.com www.australiancomposers.com.au Phillip Wilcher www.phillipwilcher.com (born 16 March 1958) is an Australian pianist and composer, also known as the Fifth Wiggle, since he was one of the founding members of the Wiggles, Australia's richest entertainers, who left the group after the group's debut album in 1991. While the accounts surrounding his departure differ, he left the group shortly before the group became famous. His departure prior to the group's success has earned him comparisons to The Beatles' Pete Best---the famous "fifth Beatle" who left the group before the Beatles breakout. Phillip Wilcher was born in Camperdown, New South Wales. He started playing the piano at age 8, and at 14 became the youngest published composer in Australia. At age 14 he wrote a song, "Summer Dance", which was performed on the Wiggles debut album as "Archie's Theme". According to his webpage, while the rest of the Wiggles were still students, Wilcher financed and wrote the majority of the Wiggles' debut album. Wilcher received two Australian Record Industry Awards from his contributions to the album. A Gold Award presented in April 1994 and a Platinum Award in October 1995. www.youtube.com en.wikipedia.org wiggles.wikia.com • Brassaï (pseudonym of Gyula Halász, (9 September 1899--8 July 1984) was a Hungarian photographer, sculptor, and filmmaker who rose to international fame in France in the 20th ...

Leo Marjane & Brassai - Seule ce soir, 1941
Leo Marjane was one of great French singers of 1930s and 1940s. Her unique "sadly grinning" deep voice and a strong dramatic expression were, two decades later, an inspiration for another great star of the French chanson - Juliette Greco. Leo Marjane's grand career had an abrupt end with the end of WWII. The French remembered, that during the occupation she entertained the Nazis with a little too much enthusiasm. After 1945 she retired. This beautiful melancholic slow-fox was composed by Charles Trenet. The music is illustrated by the photos of one of the greatest photographers of the 20 century, Brassai (his Hungarian name was Gyula Halas). Recording: Disque Gramophone, 1941

Brassaï was born in Hungary but spent the most of his life in Paris. Wanting to be a painter he became a photographer. In certain way he painted the glamour of Paris' basfond with his lens. Prostitutes, lovers, hoodlums, beggars, opium addicts and other possibilities of outsiders were his main focus to show Paris by night in the begining of its 30's.

"Disco Bitches" by Brassaï
Brassaï performing at a house party in Stockton, CA. Recorded on October 31, 2009. I didn't know where to focus the camera seeing as how I was drunk while trying to dance a little at the same time. Recording time was also cut short. Oh, and the lovely woman giving me the finger is Marta (I think). Check out more of their music at www.myspace.com
