At-Largely Guest Bloggers
My guest bloggers are not necessarily all professional journalists or even professional writers. They are a mix of a military man, a house wife, and well known journalists, who have taken the time to add something of interest to my modest blog. So here they are in no particular order:
Jeff Huber:
Commander Jeff Huber, U.S. Navy (Retired) was operations officer of a
naval air wing and an aircraft carrier, and he commanded an E-2C
Hawkeye aircraft squadron. His satires and analyses of military and
foreign policy affairs have appeared in Proceedings, The Navy, Jane's Fighting Ships,
and other print periodicals. Some of his essays have been required
student reading at the U.S. Naval War College, where he received a
master's degree in national security studies in 1995. Jeff is a
contributing editor with ePluribus Media and his regular commentaries on the current strategic situation are featured at Military.com. He has his own blog called Pen and Sword and you can read his work on the at-largely blog called Jeff's Random Thoughts.
Muriel Kane:
MK, as she is known, is Research Director for The Raw Story and my personal research assistant (no easy task because I am very annoying). She is also a freelance writer. Her work is published either in byline or contribution on Alternet, London Sunday Times, and of course The Raw Story. Her work at the at-largely blog can be read under Guest Journalists.
Lindsay Beyerstein
A freelance
writer based in New York City. Her blog, Majikthise, provides daily
coverage of local, national, and international politics from a left
liberal perspective. Her blog,
Majikthise, features original reporting, including Lindsay's photography. She is also a national correspondent for The Raw Story and blogs regularly at Alternet's PEEK blog.
Her interview with radio host and senate hopeful Al Franken was published in September, 2006.
Lindsay's photographs have been published in The Austin Chronicle,
Aftenposten (Norway's second largest newspaper), and Earth Island
Journal. Her work on the at-largely blog can be found under Guest Journalists.
Michael Smith
An award-winning Investigative journalist who writes on defense and security issues for the London Sunday Times and New Statesman. He is an expert on espionage and how spies and special forces operate, with excellent contacts inside the UK's intelligence and special operations communities. He is best known in the US for his reporting on The Downing Street Memos.
Smith was Specialist Writer of the Year in the 2006 UK Press Awards and has broken many major exclusives, not least the so-called Downing Street Memos. He is the author of several best-selling books, including the Number One bestseller Station X. His latest book Killer Elite tells the story of America's most secret special operations unit and includes an extensive special operations/special forces glossary. His work and full profile are available on his own site and his writing on the at-largely blog can be found under Guest Journalists.
Brad Jacobson
Founding editor and writer of MediaBloodhound. His original media
critiques, reports and satires have been cited in some of the most
popular alternative news and media destinations around the web,
including Salon, Raw Story, Huffington Post, BuzzFlash, Editor &
Publisher, Gawker, Crooks and Liars, Firedoglake, Think Progress,

He was a columnist for New Partisan in 2004, and worked closely with Brian Greene on both his popularizations of theoretical physics, The Elegant Universe (Pulitzer finalist) and The Fabric of the Cosmos (NY Times #3 Best-Seller). From 2004 to 2006, he was the copy chief for a large magazine group in Manhattan, while living with his dying parents. His most recent memoir writing of his early background in electoral politics can be found at here.
