BBC 606 - Bournemouth Chairman Eddie Mitchell angry swearing rant - 25,2,2012
ALL CONTENT COPYRIGHT OF THE BBC, NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED Bournemouth chairman Eddie Mitchell was involved in a row with BBC Radio 5 live presenter Mark Chapman after his side's 1-0 defeat by Milton Keynes Dons. The Cherries' chief was taken off air after swearing three times on 606. Chapman said: "You do not come on this show, which is listened to by fans of all ages, and swear not once, not twice, but three times." I apologise for my language on BBC Radio 5 live today. I am a passionate man and unfortunately that manifested itself in the language I used during the interview. I deeply regret any offence caused to younger listeners" Eddie Mitchell Bournemouth chairman Mitchell was defending allowing the wife of Russian co-owner Maxim Demin to speak to the team at half-time. "She can't speak a lot of English but wanted to wish them well," Mitchell said. Demin bought a 50% stake in the League One club in November. Mitchell explained: "My [business] partner and his wife came to the ground today. She's a very passionate person. She's not very football-intelligent but she watched the first half and asked me if she could watch the players come into the tunnel and wish them all the best. "We were 1-0 down at half-time and she then said to me, 'Can I come into the changing room and wish them well?'. "I invited her into the changing room at half-time and she wished the boys the best in the world. "Bournemouth is a football club for everybody, for the supporters from the ...

Bournemouth Trolleybuses
Bournemouth Trolleybuses
On April 20th 1969 Bournemouth closed its fine trolleybus system. The system had a number of features that were unusual. Christchurch High Street was too narrow for a conventional turning loop so trolleys used a turntable. The driver held the booms clear of the wire while the clippie pushed the bus round. Trolleys had a open rear platform for boarding and a door operated exit at the front. The doors were opened and shut by the driver. These trolleys had two staircases, at the rear for boarding passengers and at the front for alighting passengers. This system of boarding and alighting was devised to cope with heavy demand during the holiday season. Bournemouth's trolleybuses covered some 39 route miles with 127 vehicles at its peak. Plans to build a town centre by-pass spelled the end for the trolleys. Soon after this film was shot the Pier area was to despoiled by a flyover of monumental ugliness. Trolleybuses last operated in Britain in Bradford in 1972. However it was announced in March 2011 that a trolleybus system for Leeds, the city which introduced trolleybuses in Britain back in 1911, has government approval and once a the bureaucratic hurdles have been overcome construction will start in 2014 with an opening planned by 2016. This should the signal to all other large cities and conurbations to follow suit. For more on this visit filmcrusty.blogspot.com This film is brought to you by Beulah www.eavb.co.uk

www.dorsetghostinvestigators.com For this episode we returned to St Peters Church in Bournemouth where we investigated on our fourth episode. On that episode we captured a blur that lasted over 2 minutes, which has never happened since. What was strange was after Glen asked for the spirit causing the blur to move, the blur quickly disappeared. We also caught a very strange shadow figure that went past us, and as it went past us, it moved everythign on it's path. The evps captured were also brilliant. We have now returned 46 episodes later and this is one episode you will not want to miss.

Bournemouth let a two-goal lead slip and face a replay at Gillingham after a six-goal FA Cup thriller at Dean Court. Stephen Purches put the Cherries ahead from the edge of the box, but Jack Payne levelled with a 35-yard strike. The hosts hit back as Stephane Zubar hooked in Marc Pugh's free-kick and a minute later Scott Malone made it 3-1 with a shot from the edge of the area.
