euronews reporter - Far-right voters: unusual suspects
www.euronews.com Lyon is France's second city and birth place of the 1990s urban riots which spread across the country. The city has long been conservative and the far-right vote is variable. However votes are changing in Europe and the far-right is attracting people from all kinds of backgrounds. The Front National had 0.75% of the vote in 1974. By the 1980s they had turned a corner and stabilised at around 14%. They then peaked in 2002 when Jean-Marie Le Pen made it through to the second round of the presidential elections. Today one in ten French people vote for the Front National, but who are they? They are not easy to find. Far-right voters are often reluctant to talk about their political leanings because of extreme stereotypes. However in an affluent Lyonnais suburb, the characture is broken when we meet housewife Muriel Coativy and recently retired Nicolas Flores. euronews: "What is it about the Front National values that you relate to so strongly?" Nicolas Flores: "National identity. Now I feel that everything is disappearing and that there are no more values. We can hardly say we love France, we no longer have the right to sing le Marseillaise. France no longer exists. It has no borders to protect itself and our rules come from elsewhere." Muriel Coativy adds: "For me it is a federalist Europe. Europe has been imposed on us and each country loses more of its identity. The people and the population are in the service of globalisation. Thinking about how it will ...

Breeding Breiviks? UK anti-Islam surges in wake of Norway massacre
While the trial of self-confessed mass killer Anders Breivik continues, there are fears last year's massacre in Norway might one day be repeated in other European countries. A UK anti-fascist group has warned his anti-Islam rhetoric could be inspiring extremist followers worldwide - and more must be done to stop it. And in Britain, which has a number of towns considered hotbeds of the far-right, the trend is especially worrisome. RT on Twitter twitter.com RT on Facebook www.facebook.com

Far-right Russians cite Breivik as a 'hero'
The vast majority of Russians have condemned the killings in Norway by Anders Breivik, but there is an alarming number of people there who quietly share Breivik's opinions and some who even think he is a hero. Meanwhile, the pro-government youth group Nashi, which was praised by Breivik in his writings, has sought to distance itself from his comments. Al Jazeera's Neave Barker reports from Moscow.

Norway Onslaught: Far-right terror fuelled by multikulti fail?
The man charged with Friday's shooting spree at a Norwegian youth camp and bombing in the capital, has admitted responsibility. 32-year old Anders Behring Breivik says he carried out the twin attack, which claimed over 90 lives, single-handed. The incident has been called the country's worst atrocity since World War two. The suspect was arrested at the scene of the massacre on the Island of Utoya. He reportedly travelled there in police uniform and asked people to gather around him before gunning them down. The rampage came just hours after the Oslo bombing that killed at least 7. The suspect reportedly has contacts with far right-wing groups and had previously posted extreme anti-Islam statements on his blog. RT on Twitter: twitter.com RT on Facebook: www.facebook.com

Far-right protesters hurled missiles at riot police and anti-racism demonstrators on Saturday in Bradford city centre. Bricks, bottles and smoke bombs were thrown by around 1000 members of the English Defence League (EDL) who were staging an anti-Islam protest. Trouble flared at the city's Urban Gardens where a large crowd of EDL supporters had gathered chanting "Allah is a pedo" and other anti-Muslim slogans. EDL supporters arrived on buses from cities around the north of England. They were kept away from groups of anti-racism demonstrators by a large force of riot police. 28-08-10 Bradford, UK. © Fil Kaler 2010

Fashion For Fascism: Europe looks far right as immigrant flow fuels tension
Thousands of illegal immigrants escaping political turmoil in North Africa continue to arrive on the southern Italian island of Lampedusa. Their presence looks likely to fuel the feeling that multi-culturalism has failed in a Europe also seeing a resurgence of the far right. And now entering the debate is the new Minister of the Interior in Germany who says Islam "does not belong" in the country. Meanwhile, in Italy, where the far right is gaining popularity, young people turn their backs on those in power and look to the charismatic leaders of the past. Far-right terrorism-News Analysis-08-03-2011
What is a nationalist, or neo-Nazi, with far-right terrorist ideologies? Norway's anti-Islam terrorist Breivik listed numerous European Freedom Parties and neo-Nazi parties as allies because of their anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim stance, not to mention several anti-Islam personalities from the US in his writings titled 2083: A European Declaration of Independence. More than a week after the Norwegian terrorist attacks, Europe is finding itself extremely exposed to the threat of a growing right-wing homegrown terrorism. In this edition of Press TV News Analysis, we will examine how big these movements are, and how much of a threat they pose society.

Hungary: Far-right burns EU flag and demands exit from bloc
www.euronews.net Far-right activists in Hungary have burned the EU flag, calling for the country's exit from the bloc. Some 2000 demonstrators from the extremist Jobbik party gathered outside the European Commission offices in Budapest. They are angry that cash-strapped Hungary is under pressure to ditch new legislation that Brussels says may violate European laws and principles. "Not only us but many other countries now believe they could be better off outside the EU and then they would not have got into this situation," said protester Gyorgy Lillik, 63.
