KURT WEILL (1900-1950) Born in Germany, came to the US in 1935. Composer of the Threepenny Opera, Mahagonny, Lady in the Dark, Street Scene and many other innovative works for the theater. His extensive list of works also includes well-known songs and instrumental music, preserved on innumerable recordings. One of the most versatile and influential theater composers of the twentieth century.

LOTTE LENYA (1898-1981) Actress and singer. Married to Weill in 1926, she appeared in several of his works. After his death, she dedicated herself to promoting, performing, and recording his compositions. Also remembered for her portrayal of Rosa Klebb in From Russia With Love and of Fräulein Schneider in Cabaret on Broadway.

Kurt Weill Foundation. Founded by Lenya in 1962, the non-profit, private foundation is dedicated to promoting understanding of Weill's life and works and preserving the legacies of Weill and Lenya. The foundation administers the Weill-Lenya Research Center; a Grant Program, the Kurt Weill Book Prize and the Lotte Lenya Competition, and publishes the Kurt Weill Edition and the Kurt Weill Newsletter.
