A carousel slide projector is a common form of slide projector, used to project slide photographs and to create slideshows. It was first patented on May 11, 1965, by David E. Hansen of Fairport, NY. Hansen was an engineer at the Eastman Kodak Company. The original Carousel S Slide Projector was invented by Italian-American Louis Misuraca, who brought his design to the Kodak company, selling it for a lump sum. The design was refined by Hans Gugelot and Reinhold Hacker for Kodak AG in Stuttgart in 1963, and is part of the permanent collection at MOMA, New York.
A separate, circular tray holds several (usually 80 or 140) 35mm slides, and is filled with each slide placed in upside down and backwards, so that the image is presented with the correct orientation. The tray has a metal plate on the bottom with an opening about 5 cm wide barely long enough to pass a single slide to the projection gate below it.
The projector body contains a motor which rotates the plastic main body of the tray (containing the slides) while the metal plate is fixed with the opening over the projection gate. As the tray is advanced, a reciprocating mechanism pushes the currently loaded slide back out into the tray, then the tray is rotated, dropping the next slide into position between the light source and lens.
Mad Men is an American period drama television series created by Matthew Weiner and produced by Lionsgate Television. The series premiered on July 19, 2007, on the cable network AMC. After seven seasons and 92 episodes, Mad Men's final episode aired on May 17, 2015.
Mad Men is set primarily in the 1960s, initially at the fictional Sterling Cooper advertising agency on Madison Avenue in New York City, and later at the newly created firm, Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce (later Sterling Cooper & Partners), located nearby in the Time-Life Building, at 1271 Sixth Avenue. According to the show's pilot, the phrase "Mad men" was a slang term coined in the 1950s by advertisers working on Madison Avenue to refer to themselves, a claim that has since been disputed.Don Draper (Jon Hamm) is featured in the series, initially as the talented creative director at Sterling Cooper and later a founding partner at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce, and the people in his personal and professional lives. The plot focuses on the business of the agencies as well as the personal lives of the characters, regularly depicting the changing moods and social mores of the United States through the 1960s. Season 1 is set in March 1960 and moves through November 1970 by the conclusion of Season 7.
A carousel (American English: from French carrousel and Italian carosello), roundabout (British English), or merry-go-round, is an amusement ride consisting of a rotating circular platform with seats for riders. The "seats" are traditionally in the form of rows of wooden horses or other animals mounted on posts, many of which are moved up and down by gearwork to simulate galloping, to the accompaniment of looped circus music. This leads to one of the alternative names in American English, the galloper. Other popular names are jumper, horseabout and flying horses.
Carousels are commonly populated with horses, each horse weighing roughly 100 lbs (45 kg), but may include diverse varieties of mounts, like pigs, zebras, tigers, or mythological creatures such as dragons or unicorns. Sometimes, chairlike or benchlike seats are used as well, and occasionally mounts can be shaped like airplanes or cars.
In a playground, a roundabout or merry-go-round is usually a simple, child-powered rotating platform with bars or handles to which children can cling while riding.
A projector or image projector is an optical device that projects an image (or moving images) onto a surface, commonly a projection screen.
Most projectors create an image by shining a light through a small transparent lens, but some newer types of projectors can project the image directly, by using lasers. A virtual retinal display, or retinal projector, is a projector that projects an image directly on the retina instead of using an external projection screen.
The most common type of projector used today is called a video projector. Video projectors are digital replacements for earlier types of projectors such as slide projectors and overhead projectors. These earlier types of projectors were mostly replaced with digital video projectors throughout the 1990s and early 2000s (decade), but old analog projectors are still used at some places. The newest types of projectors are handheld projectors that use lasers or LEDs to project images. Their projections are hard to see if there is too much ambient light.

Ok, I finally found the classic Kodak Carousel slide projector. It's also the best slide projector I own. I really can't argue with cheap light bulbs and decent capacity for future slides in my collection.

This video was originally filmed back on August 8th, but I haven't made this one before, because I was overdue. This is a demonstration of my Kodak Carousel 650 slide projector. This projector can only shown slides of pictures of family and also other educational things. This can be used for home, schools and meetings. It works good, but there was a slight bit of a problem when I get right into it. This is an interesting find at a yard sale back in August. This Kodak Carousel slide projector was also used in the TV show "Mad Men".

You find yourself once again taking part in yet another experiment. This time, one that involves a very old machine called a Kodak Carousel Slide Projector 860H and about 138 slide photographs dating back to the 1960's, 70's and 80's. This was originally done two weeks ago when I made this video. It took me two weeks to complete, so I decided to put this up. Here is my demonstration of my Argus 500 slide projector that I've got at Goodwill 2 weeks ago. This is a model "V" edition, because there were a few variations of this model. The first one must be a better one, the second version also had a notch on the right side, and finally, a updated version with Electromatic and it had a metal case instead of leather. It works perfectly without any problems, except the leather for the cover was kinda beat up, but this is way better than the Kodak Carousel 650 slide projector that I got rid of, because it was not working anymore after putting a celluloid link in place and it was not properly well. In addition, I've got a sl...

Around 1973 my parents, Joe and Anne deCourcelle, took a sightseeing trip to Poland. That same year a photographic gadget came on the market, allowing automatic control of your slide projector in sequence with Voice Narration and Background Music audio cassette you prepared in advance. My dad was fascinated with this, and working together, my parents and I put together a 26 minute automated slide show presentation which ultimately aired on TV12. My dad might seem a bit grumpy during the show. TV12 couldn't use the "slide automation" cassette they had so carefully worked out, and refused to let him manually control the slide projector during the show. He was convinced the TV crew would mess up the sequencing, and unfortunately he was right, they did, haha. Out of respect I correcte...
