Top 10 German 70.s heavy progressive krautrock albums
As you may notice by watchin´this, my favourite German label is Philips and favourite year is 1971 when it comes to heavy progressive Krautrock, as always many great bands didnt find space here. Blackwater Park, Armageddon, Message, Tiger B Smith, Kin Ping Meh, Asterix and Gift, fell just outside this list.

Krautrock - The Rebirth of Germany (BBC Documentary) - Full Version
Krautrock - The Rebirth of Germany (BBC Documentary) - Full Version
BBC Four Documentary which looks at how a radical generation of musicians created a new German musical identity out of the cultural ruins of war. Between 1968 and 1977 bands like Neu!, Can, Faust and Kraftwerk would look beyond western rock and roll to create some of the most original and uncompromising music ever heard. They shared one common goal - a forward-looking desire to transcend Germany's gruesome past - but that didn't stop the music press in war-obsessed Britain from calling them Krautrock. Music played 1. Popol Vuh — Aguirre I L'acrime de Rey 2. Jimi Hendrix — All Along the Watchtower 3. Richard Wagner — Siegfried's Funeral Music 4. Amon Düül II — Kannan 5. Amon Düül II — Luzifer's Ghilom 6. Popol Vuh — Wehe Khorazin 7. Popol Vuh — Aguirre II 8. Tangerine Dream — Phaedra 9. Cluster — Fur Die Katz 10. Tangerine Dream — Fly and collision of Cosmo Sola 11. CAN — Mother Sky 12. CAN — Vitamin C 13. Kraftwerk — Autobahn 14. Neu! — Hallogallo 15. Faust — Krautrock 16. Kraftwerk — Showroom Dummies 17. Kraftwerk — Geiger Counter 18. Kraftwerk — Radioactivity 19. Harmonia — Watussi 20. David Bowie — A New Career in a New Town

Embryo - Opal (1970 Krautrock)
Embryo was a Krautrock band in the 60's-70's.... Today they still tour but they are more of a World Music band now.. They even won an award for World Music or something similar last year.. From their 1970 album with the same name as the song, 'Opal'. The first Real album, the 1967 album 'For Eva' is some weird Glockenspiel thing for like an hour...

Frob - Spheres [1976 Krautrock]
Frob - Spheres [1976 Krautrock]
Uploaded by Rich at aftersabbath.blogspot.com the blog for 60s-70s heavy obscurities. Frob came from Rheda-Wiedenbrück in the east of Westphalia and played instrumental jazz-rock including progressive elements. Their great ability is demonstrated on their one and only LP which is quite relaxing and unpretentious. It was recorded in winter 1975 1976 in Southern France. With Philippe Caillat who then worked as a music teacher (and by now has released quite some jazz records) they had a guitarist of top quality at hand but the other three musicians were his equals in every way. "Frob" (Musikladen ML 002) was released in 1976 in a number of 1000 copies and is graded in "4001 Record Collector Dreams" (Vienna 2003) by Hans Pokora with two units. Space Debris - Krautrock-Sessions 1994-2001 ( Full Album ).wmv
Space Debris are a german band whose music will transport you back 30 years to the pioneering days of Krautrock and Progressive influenced Psychedelia. Influences range from Amon Düül and Can on the one hand to a psychedelicious take on the Santana, Allman Brothers, and early Deep Purple stylings. "Space Debris create a dazzling and complicated blend of 70's style classic rock jams, Krautrock, space rock, psychedelia and fusion jazz. It's mostly instrumental, with tracks often stretching into the 15 and 20-minute range, but never seeming that long, and the musicianship, I have to say, is outstanding on every level. Space Debris are best in the environment of their extended pieces, which give all the players a chance to stretch out and really do some exploring, and explore they do. The band has a beautiful sense of drama as they build their pieces from simple beginnings through numerous twists and turns to spectacular conclusions without things ever once sounding disjointed. It all flows so naturally, it's a pleasure to hear such complicated music played with such obvious ease and enjoyment." (Jeff Fitzgerald from Aural Innovations #40 sept. 2008) Studio Album, released in 2002 Songs / Tracks Listing 1. Long Distance Voyager (9:22) 2. Green Skies (8:25) 3. Mo-Jo-Me (2:58) 4. Rufus Zuphall - Prickel Pit [1971 Krautrock / Prog]
Rufus Zuphall - Prickel Pit [1971 Krautrock / Prog]
Uploaded by Rich at aftersabbath.blogspot.com the blog for 60s-70s heavy obscurities. 'Phallobst' was the second and final Rufus Zuphall release. The band were from Aachen, the same city that spawned Necronomicon. The music on this album is an eclectic mixture of classical, blues, and folk influences. The fairly simple song structures showcase everything from soft folky melodies, raucous heavy blues riffing, as well as flute and guitar interplay on classical and rock themes. Four of the tracks are instrumentals with 'Schnupfer' coming off as the most "progressive". 'Makrojel' is the strongest of these cuts and features folk flavored rock with sporadic classical touches and a prominent flute. The other instrumentals, 'Wenn Schon, Denn Schon' and 'Prickle Prit' are heavy blues rockers with catchy guitar riffs. 'Waste Land' and 'I'm On My Way' are the strongest of the tracks containing vocals as both are laid-back folk tunes. 'Waste Land' contains soft guitar work, ethnic percussion and evocative flute leads. 'I'm On My Way' builds slowly and contains an atmospheric mellotron and clavinet. Contrasting these are the two heavier tracks 'Closing Time' and 'Portland Town' which incorporate a more standard rock approach. Line-up - Gunter Krause / guitar, vocals - Thoms Kittel / guitar, keyboards, bass - Klaus Gulden / flute, percussion - Manfred Spangenberg / bass - Udo Dahmen / drums Track List: 01. Closing time (3:21) 02. Wenn schon, denn schon (3:35) 03. Schupfner (5:13) 04 ...

Tangerine Dream - Live at Coventry Cathedral 1975 Original (full version)
The original footage of the 1975 Tangerine Dream gig at the Coventry Cathedral. This is NOT the 2007 DVD where BBC added some extras, but unfortunately also dubbed the Ricochet album over the video. This is an original VHS recording from TV as broadcasted on BBC on 16/10/76, so the quality is not at all brilliant.

Harlis (Ex Jane) - Bells Of Bothfeld [1976 Krautrock]
Uploaded by Rich at aftersabbath.blogspot.com the blog for 60s-70s heavy obscurities. HARLIS was founded by ex-JANE bassist Charly Maucher. He was soon joined by another JANE member Wolfgang Krantz after his first post JANE act ANTARES. Drums were handled by Werner Löhr who claims early membership of the SCORPIONS. The HARLIS album was the debut release on the now renowned Sky label. Krantz later created EFENDI'S GARDEN whilst Maucher rejoined JANE. WOLFGANG KRANTZ issued a solo album in 1999 'Kreuz Und Quer' that included Löhr. Maucher guested on Canadian act DR. GLUE's 'Too Hot For The Mouse' album.
