The Longines Master Collection
The Longines Master Collection
Long experience meets vast expertise: The Longines Master Collection With its long and distinguished traditions, Longines has from the start built its worldwide reputation on timepieces notable as much for their intrinsic quality as for the style and timing of their launch. This is certainly true today of the eight new complication designs composing The Longines Master Collection. They are reaching world markets precisely as consumers signal their clear preference for products that not offer embody genuine value but unmistakable character as well. Generation after generation, watch collections by Longines have invariably managed to charm or to convince or quite often to do both, to the delight of consumers everywhere. Of course nothing less was expected of a watch house whose existence spans three centuries and whose professional expertise is second to none. This expertise, and more, stands behind The Longines Master Collection. Comprising only mechanical watches for men, this collection incorporates expertise going back to the company's early decades, starting with caliber L20A from 1867, fitted in the first pocket watch with subdial for the seconds at 6 o'clock to be wound and set by the crown produced by industrial means. This design was followed in 1878 by caliber L20H, the first single pushpiece chronograph movement, in 1913 by that of the first wrist chronograph with single pushpiece, caliber L13.33, in 1936 by Flyback caliber L13 ZN and finally by caliber L262 for ...

The Longines Sport Collection
The Longines Sport Collection
Longines Sport Collection: faster, further, higher, deeper Over land, underwater, in the air: Longines has always been profoundly attached to sport in every dimension. Its forward-looking spirit has taken physical form for 175 years through numerous technological innovations in the service of timing sports events and of speed records. It also takes form in the close bond between the winged hourglass brand and sporting pioneers and their legends. Presented in 2007 in Basel, the new Longines Sport Collection expresses its essence in those exceptional men and women who, with a record, an exploit, a demonstration of courage, have left their mark in history and inspire new generations of sportsmen and women to go faster, further, higher or deeper than anyone else. The HydroConquest line is intended to become the preferred watch for divers and enthusiasts of the open sea. It includes models that are water-resistant to 300 m, equipped with a stainless steel case with screw-down case back and screw-in crown, as well as a unidirectional turning bezel, made either of eloxed aluminium, studded steel for improved grip or steel with embossed numbers. Longines Gold Collections
Longines Gold Collections -- the mother lode Now nearing its second century of existence, Longines really needs no lessons in the arts of watchmaking. Its designers have long been reputed for their way of magnifying the pleasures of choosing by vastly multiplying styles, sizes, decorative patterns and designs, textures and of course colors—starting with those of its Longines Gold Collections. Featuring both diamond-set and all-metal models from various product families, Longines' solid gold designs cover the entire color range: classic yellow gold first and foremost, along with white gold and pink gold. The Longines Gold Collections: for every taste and every purse, the mother mode. With its worldwide popularity confirmed yet again, today the gleam of 18K yellow gold is everywhere. The metal's warm friendly sheen and buttery smoothness have fascinated humanity since time immemorial— with the added attraction of sparkling diamonds, fascination can easily turn to enthusiasm. Longines has thus culled particularly successful designs from various product families to compose its Longines Gold Collections. Leading the way come Longines DolceVita designs in both classic rectangular and square configurations, sleek and slim La Grande Classique models plus a selection of golden beauties from other Longines product families. Longines Gold Collection designs naturally suit every forearm, from petite "mini" cases designed for the daintiest wrists to ruggedly masculine watches and even ...

Longines
Luxury Studies: The correct pronunciation of the watchmaker Longines. Additional reading on the most significant model: imperialhotelmanagementcollegestudent.blogspot.com Longines - Angle Horaire (1931) That the Longines Hour Angle watch should also bear the Lindbergh name is not, as one may imagine, because the celebrated pilot wore one on his historic first solo flight across the Atlantic in May 1927. The connection is more subtle, and as such more interesting. Official timer for the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale, the organisation which certified the American pilot's exploit of a 33-hour and 39-minute crossing from New York to Le Bourget, was John Heinmuller, himself a pilot and chairman of Longines Wittnauer Watch Co in New York. Lindbergh spoke with him of the problem of establishing the plane's bearings during flight, and put forward the idea of a watch which, as well as the time, gave the hour angle in degrees and minutes of arc for calculating longitude. Lindbergh even made some sketches of what he was convinced would be a valuable aid to pilots on transatlantic flights. His message was received loud and clear in Switzerland, and in October 1931 a patent was filed in Bern for the Longines Hour Angle with rotating bezel. A second and improved version followed in 1938. Manufactured in limited quantities, this bona fide navigating instrument was greatly appreciated until the advent of quartz. Since then it has given rise to commemorative limited editions and ...
