Andrea Koppel (born November 27, 1963) is an American communications strategist, and a former TV journalist.

Koppel was born in New York City, the daughter of Ted Koppel, a television journalist, and Grace Anne Dorney Koppel, an attorney and spokesperson for Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Her father is Jewish and her mother is Catholic.

Koppel is married to Kenneth Pollack, an intelligence and Middle East analyst.

She attended Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart and earned a bachelor's degree in political science with a concentration in Chinese language and Asian studies from Middlebury College. She is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.

Koppel was a Congressional correspondent for CNN. She served as the network's State Department correspondent from 1998 until March 2006. Koppel joined CNN in 1993 as the network's Tokyo correspondent and in 1995 became CNN's Beijing Bureau Chief.

In February 2008, it was reported that she had joined M+R Strategic Services, a Washington, DC-based public relations firm as chief of its Communications Division.

Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009) was an American recording artist, entertainer, and businessman. Often referred to as the King of Pop, or by his initials MJ, Jackson is recognized as the most successful entertainer of all time by Guinness World Records. His contribution to music, dance, and fashion, along with a much-publicized personal life, made him a global figure in popular culture for over four decades. The seventh child of the Jackson family, he debuted on the professional music scene along with his brothers as a member of The Jackson 5 in 1964, and began his solo career in 1971.

In the early 1980s, Jackson became a dominant figure in popular music. The music videos for his songs, including those of "Beat It", "Billie Jean", and "Thriller", were credited with transforming the medium into an art form and a promotional tool, and the popularity of these videos helped to bring the relatively new television channel MTV to fame. Videos such as "Black or White" and "Scream" made him a staple on MTV in the 1990s. Through stage performances and music videos, Jackson popularized a number of complicated dance techniques, such as the robot and the moonwalk, to which he gave the name. His distinctive musical sound and vocal style influenced numerous hip hop, post-disco, contemporary R&B, pop and rock artists.

Thomas Koppel (27 April 1944 – 25 February 2006) was a versatile Danish classical music and avant-garde popular composer and musician.

His father, Herman David Koppel (1908-1998), a composer and pianist of Jewish origin, fled the Nazis with his family in 1943. Thomas was born in a refugee camp in Sweden. The family moved to Denmark and Thomas studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Music with his father who was professor of piano.

Like his father, Thomas Koppel became a classical pianist and composer. He wrote string quartets, a piano concerto, operas, cantatas, a ballet, symphonies and other orchestral works. At age 18 he completed his first opera The Story of a Mother, based on a tale by Hans Christian Andersen. Koppel composed the score in 1971 for the ballet Dødens Triumf (Triumph of Death) which was danced naked at the Royal Danish Theatre.

Unlike his father, Thomas Koppel also composed and performed avant-garde popular music. He founded the experimental rock group Savage Rose with his brother Anders and sister Lone. In 1968 they added four more members including the singer Annisette. Aside from rock, the group fused elements from classical music, jazz and rhythm and blues. Thomas Koppel and Annisette later became partners and married. They were deeply committed to projects to promote peace and social justice and in 1996 moved to Los Angeles drawn by its cultural and social diversity, including the homeless. Koppel died unexpectedly on vacation in Puerto Rico.

Marie Carmen is the stage name of Marie-Carmen Aubut (born August 29, 1959 in Sainte-Foy, Quebec), a Canadian pop singer and musical theatre actor.

Associated with the bands Accident, Blood et Marie and The Radio Rats in the early 1980s, she subsequently became a backing vocalist for Claude Dubois and The Box, and was later selected by Luc Plamondon to play the role of Marie-Jeanne in a revival of Starmania. She subsequently released her debut album as a solo artist, Dans la peau, in 1988. She has since released four more studio albums and a greatest hits compilation, and participated in another production of Starmania in 2000, this time in the role of Sadia.

In the early 2000s, she retired from the music business to do humanitarian work in Peru. She returned to Montreal in 2005 to perform several benefit concerts to raise money for development projects in Peru.

Edward James "Ted" Koppel (born February 8, 1940) is an English-born American broadcast journalist, best known as the anchor for Nightline from the program's inception in 1980 until his retirement in late 2005. After leaving Nightline, Koppel worked as managing editor for the Discovery Channel before resigning in 2008. Koppel is currently a senior news analyst for National Public Radio and contributing analyst to BBC World News America, and contributes to the new NBC News primetime newsmagazine Rock Center with Brian Williams.

Koppel, an only child, was born in Nelson, Lancashire, England, after his German Jewish parents fled Germany due to the rise of Adolf Hitler and Nazism. Koppel, at 13, immigrated to the United States in 1953 with his family. His mother, Alice, was a singer and pianist, and his father, Edwin, was a tire factory owner. He graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Science Degree and from Stanford University with a Master of Arts Degree in Mass Communications Research and Political Science. In 1987, he received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from Duke University. In 2007, the University of Southern California awarded Koppel an honorary Doctor of Laws degree. Koppel returns to Syracuse University regularly as a guest speaker. He was a member of the student-run WAER and keeps in touch with the student media at Syracuse. He is a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.
