Like his close friend Albert Aurier, he contributed regularly to the Mercure de France, for example in September 1890 an obituary of Vincent van Gogh. Tristan Tzara
Tristan Tzara (; born Samuel or Samy Rosenstock, also known as S. Samyro; –December 25, 1963) was a Romanian and French avant-garde poet, essayist and performance artist. Also active as a journalist, playwright, literary and art critic, composer and film director, he was known best for being one of the founders and central figures of the anti-establishment Dada movement. Under the influence of Adrian Maniu, the adolescent Tzara became interested in Symbolism and co-founded the magazine Simbolul with Ion Vinea (with whom he also wrote experimental poetry) and painter Marcel Janco. During World War I, after briefly collaborating on Vinea's Chemarea, he joined Janco in Switzerland. Zacharie Astruc (Angers, 1833-Paris, 1907) was a sculptor, painter, poet, and art critic. He was an important figure in the cultural life of France in the second half of the 19th century, and participated in the first Impressionist exhibition of 1874 and also in the Exposition Universelle of 1900. the jury for the 2009 ADKV-ART COLOGNE Prize for Art Criticism awarded this years prize to Dr. Jennifer Allen, a Canadian critic living in Berlin. In making the award, the jury particularly highlighted the clear personal viewpoints expressed in Allens writing and its vivid and visual style. She is the tenth recipient of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutscher Kunstvereine (ADKV) award, which honors the work of freelance art critics, giving recognition to decisive contribution they make to the public reception of contemporary art. Since 2006, the prize has been awarded in cooperation with ART COLOGNE. Jennifer Allen studied economics and literature at McGill University, receiving a PhD in literature from the Université de Montréal in 1998. She has lived in Berlin since 1996, when she came to the city on a DAAD fellowship. She has worked as a freelance critic since 2001, in addition to giving seminars and lectures at numerous European universities, including the Humboldt University (Berlin), the Collège international de philosophie (Paris) and the IASPIS-International Artists Studio Program (Stockholm). This years prize goes to an author who has firmly established herself in the international art critical arena, while nonetheless remaining committed to bringing unorthodox and less established artistic positions to wider attention. Here is a video guide for the achievement "Art Critic" for Hydro Thunder Hurricane- Tempest Pack DLC. The objective is to destroy 7 statues within 50 seconds. I cut it close but I'm sure others can do it much faster. The main thing to note here is that the last statue will appear on the finish line only if you destroy the other six withing 50 seconds. If you destroy the other six but don't make it in time, it will disappear.' I also chose to do this on Gauntlet mode because there are no racers, and your timer isn't altered in any way. Typically the art critic views art at exhibitions, galleries, museums or artists' studios.
Professional art critics are expected to have a keen eye for art and a thorough knowledge of art history. Knowledge, however, provides no guarantee that a critic will know if a work of art, an exhibition, or an artist will stand out in history as "great".
The opinions of art critics has the potential to stir debate on art related topics. Due to this the viewpoints of art critics writing for art publications and newspapers adds to public discourse concerning art and culture. Some of today's art critics use art blogs and other online platforms in order to connect with a wider audience and expand debate about art.
Many now famous and celebrated artists were not recognized by the art critics of their time, often because their art was in a style not yet understood or favored. Conversely, some critics, have become particularly important helping to explain and promote new art movements — Roger Fry with the Post-Impressionist movement, Lawrence Alloway with Pop Art as examples.
