Katie Uhlaender (born July 17, 1984) is an American skeleton racer who has competed since 2003. She won four medals at the FIBT World Championships with one silver (women's skeleton: 2008) and three bronzes (women's skeleton: 2007, mixed bobsleigh-skeleton team event: 2008, 2009).
Uhlaender won the women's Skeleton World Cup title twice (2006-7, 2007-8). She also finished sixth in the women's skeleton event at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. She earned a medical waiver to compete in the 2009-10 Skeleton World Cup season following surgery in the wake of an April 2009 snowmobile accident where Uhelander shattered her kneecap, and broke it again in August 2009 (having a total of four surgeries).
A native of Vail, Colorado, Uhlaender now lives in nearby Breckenridge. She is the daughter of Major League Baseball outfielder (and former Cleveland Indians coach) Ted Uhlaender. In memory of her father, she wears his National League Championship ring from the 1972 Cincinnati Reds on a necklace.
Theodore Otto Uhlaender (October 21, 1939 – February 12, 2009) was a Major League Baseball outfielder for the Minnesota Twins, Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds from 1965–1972. He was also the father of Olympic women's skeleton competitor Katie Uhlaender.
Signed by the Twins out of Baylor University in 1961, he made his major league debut four years later. He was ineligible for the 1965 World Series because his promotion occurred after the August 31 deadline. He became the team's starting center fielder for the next four seasons. Despite the 1968 campaign being totally dominated by pitchers, he managed to finish fifth in batting in the American League with a .283 average. He followed that up with his most productive season, establishing career highs with 152 games played, 93 runs scored, 151 hits and 62 runs batted in (RBI). His first playoff experience was in the 1969 American League Championship Series, with one hit in six at-bats.
He was traded along with Graig Nettles, Dean Chance and Bob Miller to the Indians for Luis Tiant and Stan Williams on December 10, 1969. He started in center in 1970, before being shifted to left field the next season.
Katie is an English feminine name. It is a pet form of Katherine, Kate, Caitlin, Kathleen and their related forms. It is frequently used on its own. It may refer to:

A man who lives above the clouds and always lands with both wingtips steady. Who leaves with his pole and comes back with a full stringer. Who takes out his over and under and comes back with his limit. A man who can use his .264 well enough to line up his crosshairs and split frogs hair at 500 yards. A man with great hands, a great stick and wheels from heaven, a true champion. Who never let excuses get in the way of success, and always wanted to share his passions in life--hunting, bird dogs, and baseball. With most things in life when it gets right down to it, heart is what it takes, and Ted "Teddy" Uhlaneder definitely left that behind for us all to remember. He was a throwback in baseball and in life. His word was a good. His work ethic was even better.
