James Stevens Curl (born 1937), PhD (Lond), DiplArch (Oxon), DipTP (Oxon), FSA, FSAScot, AABC, MRIAI, RIBA, FRIAS, MRTPI., is a noted architectural historian, architect, and author.

He is Professor Emeritus at the Leicester School of Architecture, De Montfort University, and Honorary Research Fellow at The Queen's University of Belfast, and was previously a Visiting Fellow at Peterhouse, University of Cambridge (1991–1992, 2002). He received his doctorate from University College London.

He is a member of the Art Workers' Guild, Oxford & Cambridge Club, fellow of The Society of Antiquaries of London, The Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland, liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Chartered Architects of the City of London, president of the Friends of Southampton Old Cemetery, joint patron of The Mausolea & Monuments Trust and former chairman of the Oxford Civic Society.

Benedict F. Kiernan (born 1953 in Melbourne, Australia) is the Whitney Griswold Professor of History, Professor of International and Area Studies and Director of the Genocide Studies Program at Yale University. He is a prolific writer on the Cambodian genocide. Kiernan has also published prize-winning work on the global history of genocide.

In his early twenties, Kiernan visited Cambodia but left before the Khmer Rouge expelled all foreigners in 1975. Though he initially doubted the scale of genocide then being perpetrated in Democratic Kampuchea, he changed his mind in 1978 after beginning a series of interviews with several hundred refugees from Cambodia. He learnt the Khmer language, carried out extensive research in Cambodia and among refugees abroad, and has since written many critically acclaimed books on the topic.

From 1980 onwards, Kiernan worked with Gregory Stanton to bring the Khmer Rouge to international justice. He obtained his Ph.D. from Monash University, Australia in 1983 under the supervision of David P. Chandler. He joined the Yale History Department in 1990, and founded the award-winning Cambodian Genocide Program at the Yale Center for International and Area Studies in 1994, and the comparative Genocide Studies Program in 1998. He is the author of over 100 scholarly articles on Southeast Asia and genocide. Kiernan currently teaches history courses on Southeast Asia, the Vietnam War and genocides through the ages.

Joachim Tielke (October 14, 1641 – January 19, 1719) was a German maker of musical instruments. He was born in Königsberg, Prussia, and died in Hamburg.

A publication was dedicated to him by Günther Hellwig. Hellwig lists the total number of 139 instruments still existing of Tielke's oeuvre with lutes, angelicas, theorboes, bell citterns (hamburger cithrinchen), guitars, pochettes, violins, viole d'amore without sympathetic strings, barytons, viole da gamba and bows. More recent research shows that all theorboes were originally either lutes with bent-back pegboxes or are modifications of angelicas. The bows have shown to be non-authentic. On the other hand, nearly thirty instruments not know to Hellwig have come up, among them the fragment of a baryton, a cello, more viols, guitars, lutes. Tielke's existing oeuvre is therefore one of the most comprehensive and by number close to that of Stradivari and the other great Italian makers. Tielke's instruments are famous not only for their marquetry and carved heards but also for their tonal qualities.

John Francis Morrill (February 19, 1855 – April 2, 1932), nicknamed "Honest John," was an American first baseman and manager in Major League Baseball who played from 1876 to 1890. Over the years he played all positions. Although he pitched a couple of games each season, he was primarily an infielder, and had a career batting average of .260. In an incredible season in 1883, he batted .316, played six different positions, and led the Boston Beaneaters to the National League pennant after taking over as manager from Jack Burdock in midseason.

Morrill's parents were Irish emigrants to Boston. He was born in Boston, and raised five children. He died at the age of 77 in Brookline, Massachusetts, and interred at the Holyhood Cemetery.
