All the Roadrunning is a collaborative album by Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris. Released in 2006 by Warner Bros. in the US and Universal Music in Europe, "This Is Us" was released as the first single, followed by "Beachcombing". The album was the result of a longtime collaboration between the two. Over the course of seven years, the songs were recorded by the pair with minimal information coming out about it. A live album, Real Live Roadrunning, was released following Harris and Knopfler's tour supporting All the Roadrunning. Although Harris is a songwriter, ten of the twelve tracks on the album were penned by Knopfler. Well what do you say? A cover of one of the songs I like the most from Mark's Solo career. Emmylou did a fablous job on the vocals on this one, the entire album to be correct. I tried adding some fiddle, violin whatever you want to call it. Still working on my skills, not easy to record MIDI-instruments when you have to play with the keyboard on the computer ;) Sorry if it isn't 100% synched, I have to synch the video with audio afterwards and it doesn't get perfect every time. I hope you like it though! Take care people! / Johan Visist my website: johanfredriksson.com LYRICS A million miles our vagabond heels Clocked up beneath the clouds They're counting down to show time When we do it for real with the crowds Air miles are owing But they don't come for free And they don't give you any for pain But if it's all for nothing All the roadrunning's Been in vain The rimshots come down like cannon fire And thunder off the wall There's a man in every corner And each one is giving his all This is my fife This is my drum So you never will hear me complain And if it's all for nothing All the roadrunning's Been in vain All the roadrunning All the roadrunning Well if you're inclined To go up on the wall It can only be fast and high And those who don't like the danger Soon find something different to try When there's only a ringin' in your ears And an echo down memory lane But if it's all for nothing All the roadrunning's Been in vain All the roadrunning, all the roadrunning All the <b>...</b>

A great song. --- A million miles our vagabond wheels Clocked up beneath the clouds They're counting down to show time When we do it for real with the crowds Air miles are owing but they don't come for free And they don't give you any for pain But if it's all for nothing All the road running's been in vain The rim shots come down like cannon-fire And thunder off the wall There's a man in every corner And each one is giving his all But this is my piper, this is my drum So you never will hear me complain And if it's all for nothing All the road running has been in vain All the road running All the road running Well if you're inclined to go up on the wall It can only be fast and high And those who don't like the danger soon Find something different to try And when there is only a ring in your ears And an echo down memory lane Then if it's all for nothing All the road running's been in vain All the road running All the road running The show's packing up, I sit and watch The carnival leaving town And there's no pretending that I'm not a fool For riding around and around Like the pictures you keep of your old wall of death You showed me one time on the plane But if it's all for nothing All the road running has been in vain I've a million miles of vagabond sky Clocked up above the clouds And I'm still your man for the roaming For as long as there's roaming allowed There'll be a rider and there'll be a wall As long as the dream remains And if it's all for nothing All the road <b>...</b>

Music Review: All The Roadrunning

Canada Dot Com
(AP) - Emmylou Harris would sound good matched with a singing hinge, while Mark Knopfler's songwriting and fretwork are always appealing, which makes this pairing close to can't-miss music. Still, it's a bit of a disappointment. Duets are all about chemistry, and Harris and Knopfler fail to generate much heat. "You and me were meant to be,"...
The Observer
They hardly make the most obvious pairing, Emmylou's piercing, plaintive melodies and Knopfler's dusky, mid-Atlantic drone, the one able to soar around an intricate bluegrass harmony, the other confined to what colour charts term 'earthy tones'. Still, when one inveterate collaborator meets another, things happen, and having hit it off over a couple of duets for a Hank Williams...
