ABOUT USMetro New Orleans' source for news, information and community interaction
NOLA.com relaunches Web site
We are pleased to provide the following information about our new home page look and design.
NOLA.com is pleased to announce a brand new look and design for our home page. We've been listening to your feedback for some time now and have created a new home page that is designed to make it easier for you to discover all the great content our Web site offers, and continue to easily find the content you've come to depend on from NOLA.com. You'll notice several major benefits from this design:
• Our new home page is wider, less cluttered and loaded with links to all of the great content featured on our site.
• We've chosen type-style that's easy to read, and bright and bold, without overwhelming the page.
Here are some more specifics:
Easier navigation
A new navigation menu will be available consistently throughout the entire site. Links to topics you've come to rely on from NOLA.com will be reflected throughout our new home page - an illustrated index you've told us you're interested in.Here are some of the other benefits you’ll find:
Weather & Hurricane Centers
While we've always offered current weather conditions, forecasts and access to live weather radar, we know that keeping up with rapidly changing weather is critically important to our community. That's why you will now find links to key weather information prominently displayed right at the top of our new home page. With our enhanced weather offering, you will be able to select the community most important to you in order to customize this weather information to your town or neighborhood. Our real-time severe storm and tropical weather alerts will keep you constantly "in-the-know" about any type of threatening weather, year-round.
Real-Time News and Information
You'll want to bookmark nola.com/news and come back several times a day. The Times-Picayune writers will provide online-only breaking news all day long, every day of the week. We'll also have big breaking news stories, photos and video when events call on us to tell a major story more in-depth. Subscribe to our RSS and mobile feeds and you'll get all the news as we post it, plus all of our stories, multimedia, blogs and reader comments.
Sports
Finding your favorite local and regional teams - high school, college and pros - has never been easier from our sports index on our homepage.
Interact
We want to hear from you. You'll be able to start or join a conversation by commenting on blog stories and other multimedia elements. You can also join the banter in our new public blogs or in any one of our popular forums. We'll also be creating interactive stories and databases. And we're giving you the opportunity to share your own stories, photos and video clips with us and other readers.
Entertainment
More and more of our site visitors are coming to rely on our timely, rich entertainment and event listings. You will now have easy access to this content in two ways: first, links that take you directly to pages such as movies, dining, music; and second, easy to use search fields that allow you to zero in on restaurant cuisines or music styles that interest you most.
Classifieds
Our new classifieds index also provides both links to directly access classifieds sections such as Autos, Employment and Real Estate. In addition, a custom search tool allows you to start looking for your vehicle, job or home of your choice directly from our home page.
