Don’t confuse a Belgian Malinois
August 2nd, 2011… with a German Shepherd.
These 2 breeds of dog are very different, yet very alike. German Shepherds have been used by law enforcement agencies for years but it seems the slightly more intelligent and harder working Belgian Malinois is gaining ground as the k9 of choice for patrols, drug sniffers etc
Make no mistake the German Shepherd is still a firm favourite for alot of the older guard so to speak when it comes to having a dog companion in law enforcement, however the Belgian Malinois shows a lot more drive and energy and willingness to please and to learn.
The dog used in the covert op to apprehend Osama Bin Laden, was a Navy Seal Belgian Malinois.
