Iain Conn
Iain Cameron Conn (born October 1962) is a British businessman. He serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Centrica.
Early life
Iain Cameron Conn was born in October 1962 in Edinburgh, Scotland. He was educated in Musselburgh, Scotland. He graduated from Imperial College London, where he studied chemical engineering and management.
Career
Conn served as Chief Executive Downstream, of BP. He served as the Group Executive Officer for strategic resources of BP from 2004 to 2014.
Conn has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Centrica since January 1, 2015, replacing Sam Laidlaw. He earns GBP£3.7 million annually, including GBP£925,000 in salary. By 2015 July, after profits from its subsidiary, British Gas, soared, Conn decided to focus less on oil and gas expansion while leveraging British Gas for the upcoming cold winter, when customers are expected to use more gas than usual for heating. Meanwhile, he lay off 6,000 employees to save GBP£750 million.
Conn served on the Board of Directors of BP from 2004 to 2014, and Rolls-Royce Holdings from 2005 to 2014. He serves on the Board of Directors of BT.
