OS/2
OS/2 is a series of computer operating systems, initially created by Microsoft and IBM, then later developed by IBM exclusively. The name stands for "Operating System/2", because it was introduced as part of the same generation change release as IBM's "Personal System/2 (PS/2)" line of second-generation personal computers. The first version of OS/2 was released in December 1987 and newer versions were released until December 2001.
OS/2 was intended as a protected mode successor of PC DOS. Notably, basic system calls were modeled after MS-DOS calls; their names even started with "Dos" and it was possible to create "Family Mode" applications: text mode applications that could work on both systems. Because of this heritage, OS/2 shares similarities with Unix, Xenix, and Windows NT in many ways.
OS/2 is no longer marketed by IBM, and IBM standard support for OS/2 was discontinued on 31 December 2006. It has been since maintained with relatively few new features under the name of eComStation.

So, you know what YouTube needs? More OS/2 content. You know what I've never seen documented (in video form): upgrading through every version of OS/2. Is it even possible? I have absolutely no idea. Starting with a 286 based system and Microsoft OS/2 1.0, the plan is upgrade through each 16-bit version (in PCem) of 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3, to the 32-bit versions (2.0, and 2.1), then Warp, Warp Connect, and finally OS/2 4.52. There's no official upgrade path to eCommStation or ArcaOS, so that will have to wait until a future video. We might also try some interesting quirks of OS/2 such as installing Windows 3.0, testing some backwards compatibility and more. Ideas are welcome as we go along. So, you know what YouTube needs? More OS/2 content. You know what I've never seen documented (in video form): upgrading through every version of OS/2.
Is it even possible? I have absolutely no idea.
Starting with a 286 based system and Microsoft OS/2 1.0, the plan is upgrade through each 16-bit version (in PCem) of 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3, to the 32-bit versions (2.0, and 2.1), then Warp, Warp Connect, and finally OS/2 4.52. There's no official upgrade path to eCommStation or ArcaOS, so that will have to wait until a future video.
We might also try some interesting quirks of OS/2 such as installing Windows 3.0, testing some backwards compatibility and more. Ideas are welcome as we go along.

IBM had unknowingly created a juggernaut when they allowed Bill Gates and Microsoft to control the PC operating system standard, first with DOS and then with Windows. Having lost control of the PC hardware standard, IBM was determined to regain control of the operating system standard.
Their weapon?
The OS/2 operating system, a powerful and feature packed operating system that best case should have had little trouble overcoming Windows, and worst case should have at least been able to carve out a profitable and sustainable market share. This is the story of how IBM's last attempt to keep a measure of control in the PC space...failed.

No vídeo falei sobre o fato do acaro varroa ser um género de ácaros ectoparasitas que infesta diversas espécies de abelhas do género Apis e que pode ser controlado com suco de limão rico em ácido cítrico deixado dentro da colmeia.
Falei também que o limão representar até 7% de ácido cítrico no suco. Que o ideal seria usar o ÁCIDO OXÁLICO por ter maior eficiência. Mas que deixando o limão dentro da colmeia por 168 horas, o apicultor não vai acreditar no resultado.

So, you know what YouTube needs? More OS/2 content. You know what I've never seen documented (in video form): upgrading through every version of OS/2.
Is it even possible? I have absolutely no idea.
Starting with a 286 based system and Microsoft OS/2 1.0, the plan is upgrade through each 16-bit version (in PCem) of 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3, to the 32-bit versions (2.0, and 2.1), then Warp, Warp Connect, and finally OS/2 4.52. There's no official upgrade path to eCommStation or ArcaOS, so that will have to wait until a future video.
We might also try some interesting quirks of OS/2 such as installing Windows 3.0, testing some backwards compatibility and more. Ideas are welcome as we go along.

OS/2
OS/2 is a series of computer operating systems, initially created by Microsoft and IBM, then later developed by IBM exclusively. The name stands for "Operating System/2", because it was introduced as part of the same generation change release as IBM's "Personal System/2 (PS/2)" line of second-generation personal computers. The first version of OS/2 was released in December 1987 and newer versions were released until December 2001.
OS/2 was intended as a protected mode successor of PC DOS. Notably, basic system calls were modeled after MS-DOS calls; their names even started with "Dos" and it was possible to create "Family Mode" applications: text mode applications that could work on both systems. Because of this heritage, OS/2 shares similarities with Unix, Xenix, and Windows NT in many ways.
OS/2 is no longer marketed by IBM, and IBM standard support for OS/2 was discontinued on 31 December 2006. It has been since maintained with relatively few new features under the name of eComStation.
