Permablitz - FoE Sydney

Friends of the Earth Sydney have been facilitating Permablitzes in Sydney gardens since 2007. Our focus is to continue to facilitate community-building and resilience against the risks of peak energy and oil. We intend to do this by establishing an alternative, low-cost food production and distribution system and promote ideas surrounding food sovereignty.

Members of FoE Sydney are concerned about how our communities will access free/low-cost food in the face of resource shortage. We also believe in the importance of food sovereignty, and truly sustainable food production. Our plan is to build resilient communities independent of commercial food processes which damage not only the earth but also many, particularly indigenous and global southern peoples.



For us Permablitz is an opportunity to share skills, get to know members of our community better, and grow ideas about what an alternative, fair, low-cost and ecologically sustainable food system would look like.

We are working toward building a low-waste, organic and low-cost food system for the Sydney food bowl by developing a system that involves Permablitzes - Urban Food Orchard and Food Coops
