Prolyl endopeptidase
Prolyl endopeptidase (PE) also known as prolyl oligopeptidase or post-proline cleaving enzyme is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the PREP gene.
Function
Prolyl endopeptidase is a large cytosolic enzyme that belongs to a distinct class of serine peptidases. It was first described in the cytosol of rabbit brain as an oligopeptidase, which degrades the nonapeptide bradykinin at the Pro-Phe bond. The enzyme is involved in the maturation and degradation of peptide hormones and neuropeptides such as alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LH-RH), thyrotropin-releasing hormone, angiotensin, neurotensin, oxytocin, substance P and vasopressin. PREP cleaves peptide bonds at the C-terminal side of proline residues. Its activity is confined to action on oligopeptides of less than 10 kD and it has an absolute requirement for the trans-configuration of the peptide bond preceding proline.
Prolyl endopeptidases are involved in the maturation and degradation of peptide hormones and neuropeptides.

Book of Proverbs
The Book of Proverbs (Hebrew: מִשְלֵי, Míshlê (Shlomoh), "Proverbs (of Solomon)") is the second book of the third section (called Writings) of the Hebrew Bible and a book of the Christian Old Testament. When translated into Greek and Latin, the title took on different forms: in the Greek Septuagint (LXX) it became Παροιμίαι Paroimiai ("Proverbs"); in the Latin Vulgate the title was Proverbia, from which the English name is derived.
Proverbs is not merely an anthology but a "collection of collections" relating to a pattern of life which lasted for more than a millennium. PrEP is pre-exposure prophylaxis. It is HIV medication that people who do not have HIV can take and it prevents HIV.
PrEP is extraordinarily effective, 99% effective, in most cases, when it comes to sexual transmission of HIV. Now let's talk about what that really means. So, what it really means is you have to take it.
If your PrEP pills are sitting on a counter, or you forget to take them, they're not gonna be able to protect you as well as if you try not to miss any doses.
If you don't wanna take a pill a day there's options open to many people to be able to get an injection once every couple of months. And that means that you don't think about it and just make sure that you get to your doctor.

Você sabe o que é Prep? Talvez você já tenha ouvido falar dessa sigla por aí, mas não sabe exatamente do que se trata. Prep é a abreviação de Profilaxia Pré-Exposição ao HIV, um método de prevenção que consiste no uso de medicamentos antirretrovirais por pessoas que não vivem com o HIV, que estão em situação de risco para a infecção pelo vírus HIV.
Mas por que isso é tão importante? Bem, estamos vivendo em uma época em que a infecção pelo HIV ainda é uma realidade preocupante, especialmente entre grupos de risco, como homens que fazem sexo com homens e profissionais do sexo, além é de pessoas heterossexuais que acreditem que estejam expostos a alguma situação de risco. A Prep surge como uma alternativa eficaz para prevenir a infecção pelo vírus em situações de maior vulnerabilidade.
Se você ainda não conhece a Prep ou acha que não precisa se preocupar com isso, saiba que se informar sobre a prevenção é fundamental para a sua saúde e para a saúde de quem você ama. Ficar por dentro das opções de prevenção é um ato de responsabilidade e cuidado consigo mesmo e com os outros. Então, você sabe o que é Prep?
E não se esqueça:
1-Use preservativos durante a relação sexual.
2-Fique atento aos sintomas de ISTs e procure atendimento médico imediatamente se houver algum sinal.
3-Converse com seu parceiro sobre o uso de preservativos e sobre a importância de fazer testes para ISTs.
4-Mantenha uma vida sexual segura, evitando ter relações sexuais desprotegidas com parceiros desconhecidos ou não confiáveis.
5-Realize testes regularmente para ISTs, incluindo o teste para HIV.
6-Considere o uso do PREP (profilaxia pré-exposição) para reduzir o risco de infecção por HIV.
7-Se tiver relações sexuais desprotegidas ou outros riscos de exposição, considere o uso da PEP (profilaxia pós-exposição) para reduzir o risco de infecção por HIV.
8-Mantenha uma boa higiene pessoal e evite compartilhar objetos pessoais, como escovas de dentes ou toalhas, com outras pessoas.
9-Beba álcool com moderação e evite o uso de drogas, já que eles podem afetar sua capacidade de tomar decisões seguras e proteger-se contra ISTs.
10-Lembre-se de que o uso de preservativos e o conhecimento sobre ISTs são as melhores maneiras de prevenir a infecção. Se você tiver dúvidas ou preocupações, consulte um médico especializado em ISTs e HIV.

During my presentations I have been discussing an ingredient in Gluten that our bodies could not digest. I mistakenly said it was zonulin. After discovering that it is actually GLIADIN (the protein) within gluten I had to correct myself. Gliadin is what acts on our intestine signaling to the zonluin to widen the junctions between the intestinal cell lining, causing hyper permeability of the gut and thus causing an immune response. “Preventive Medicine” has arrived for those at risk for HIV. New medical strategies are available to help prevent HIV from being transmitted. As futuristic as this concept seems, it is part of a preventive revolution for medical care – where an “ounce of prevention” may be worth more than a “pound of cure.”
Raphael Landovitz’s clinical research career focuses on optimizing the use of HIV antiretroviral therapy for both HIV treatment and HIV prevention.
Dr. Landovitz was trained at Princeton University and Harvard Medical School. He completed post-graduate training in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (1996-1999) and Infectious Diseases and HIV Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital (1999-2001). He works in the DAIDS-funded AIDS Clinical Trials Group (ACTG), HIV Prevention Trials Network (HPTN) and the NICHD-funded Adolescent Trials Network (ATN), and serves as the Clinical Research Site leader of the UCLA CARE Center Clinical Research Site for the DAIDS-funded networks. He is the principal investigator of a multisite PrEP demonstration project in Los Angeles County, and the protocol chair of Phase 2a and Phase 2b/3 studies of long-acting injectable PrEP using GSK1265744 (cabotegravir).

I'm so glad someone asked me this question. I've been wanting to talk about this.
PrEP is pre-exposure prophylaxis. It is HIV medication that people who do not have HIV can take and it prevents HIV.
PrEP is extraordinarily effective, 99% effective, in most cases, when it comes to sexual transmission of HIV. Now let's talk about what that really means. So, what it really means is you have to take it.
If your PrEP pills are sitting on a counter, or you forget to take them, they're not gonna be able to protect you as well as if you try not to miss any doses.
If you don't wanna take a pill a day there's options open to many people to be able to get an injection once every couple of months. And that means that you don't think about it and just make sure that you get to your doctor.

Prep é a abreviação de Profilaxia Pré-Exposição ao HIV, um método de prevenção que consiste no uso de medicamentos antirretrovirais por pessoas que não vivem com o HIV, que estão em situação de risco para a infecção pelo vírus HIV.
Mas por que isso é tão importante? Bem, estamos vivendo em uma época em que a infecção pelo HIV ainda é uma realidade preocupante, especialmente entre grupos de risco, como homens que fazem sexo com homens e profissionais do sexo, além é de pessoas heterossexuais que acreditem que estejam expostos a alguma situação de risco. A Prep surge como uma alternativa eficaz para prevenir a infecção pelo vírus em situações de maior vulnerabilidade.
Se você ainda não conhece a Prep ou acha que não precisa se preocupar com isso, saiba que se informar sobre a prevenção é fundamental para a sua saúde e para a saúde de quem você ama. Ficar por dentro das opções de prevenção é um ato de responsabilidade e cuidado consigo mesmo e com os outros. Então, você sabe o que é Prep?
E não se esqueça:
1-Use preservativos durante a relação sexual.
2-Fique atento aos sintomas de ISTs e procure atendimento médico imediatamente se houver algum sinal.
3-Converse com seu parceiro sobre o uso de preservativos e sobre a importância de fazer testes para ISTs.
4-Mantenha uma vida sexual segura, evitando ter relações sexuais desprotegidas com parceiros desconhecidos ou não confiáveis.
5-Realize testes regularmente para ISTs, incluindo o teste para HIV.
6-Considere o uso do PREP (profilaxia pré-exposição) para reduzir o risco de infecção por HIV.
7-Se tiver relações sexuais desprotegidas ou outros riscos de exposição, considere o uso da PEP (profilaxia pós-exposição) para reduzir o risco de infecção por HIV.
8-Mantenha uma boa higiene pessoal e evite compartilhar objetos pessoais, como escovas de dentes ou toalhas, com outras pessoas.
9-Beba álcool com moderação e evite o uso de drogas, já que eles podem afetar sua capacidade de tomar decisões seguras e proteger-se contra ISTs.
10-Lembre-se de que o uso de preservativos e o conhecimento sobre ISTs são as melhores maneiras de prevenir a infecção. Se você tiver dúvidas ou preocupações, consulte um médico especializado em ISTs e HIV.

During my presentations I have been discussing an ingredient in Gluten that our bodies could not digest. I mistakenly said it was zonulin. After discovering that it is actually GLIADIN (the protein) within gluten I had to correct myself.
Gliadin is what acts on our intestine signaling to the zonluin to widen the junctions between the intestinal cell lining, causing hyper permeability of the gut and thus causing an immune response. Continued immune response caused by continued ingestion of allergenic foods (gluten) can lead to chronic disease and auto-immune disease.
