Nothing To See Here: On Dead Cats and Crosshairs
Stickers with an image of rifle crosshairs were found on the office nameplates of six Missouri legislators - five of them Democrats, half of them black women. When staff removed them, they later found larger ones in their place. This, after a Democratic operative in Arkansas found his family cat killed with "LIBERAL" scrawled on the corpse. More, outraged and eloquent, on an increasingly violent climate and rhetoric fed daily by the hateful likes of Mssrs. Savage, Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck - who have yet to take back, or own the possible deadly repercussions of, any of it.
"They'll probably arrest some teenagers sooner or later. Just kids. Just kids who learned this behavior somewhere...There's nothing to see here. Move along. It was an isolated incident."

Show AllOf course, if liberals were doing this sort of thing to the hateful media personalities, they would be screaming.
As I have always said: The Right is hateful and violent. The Left is passive and stupid. The Right counts on that.
I'll agree with that.
Too passive, maybe. Stupid? Nope.
If I catch them there'll be a lesson in hate and violence. Nobody does a cat like that and lives!!!
>^^<
I was revolted by that. To do that to an innocent cat is sick sick sick. And the poor man and his family! Well, whoever did it will have some SERIOUS karmic blowback to deal with.
Love how killing cats gets more publicity and more indignation than killing poor people. (Not talking about you personally btw, but about the general liberal press.) And again, forget Karma. No system will provide justice automatically. Societies are the only things that can do that.
"The Left is passive and stupid. The Right counts on that."
So who produced a full length movie about assassinating President Bush? The left or the right?
what movie are you talking about???
"Death of a President" (2006)
never heard about it -- details, a link perhaps?
British Production called a "Mocumentry" google IMDB (Internet Movie Data Base) and you will see it an who produced it etc.
Duhh. I wonder which presidents and presidential candidates and civl rights leaders get murdered.
a passive, stupid leftist.
Well there was Mckinley (killed by an anarchist), and Garfild (killed by a disgruntled civil service job seeker). But the list was later dominated by people who were at least a bit left of center. Remember the old saying "the good die young? (no; not, and far pre-dating, the Billy Joel song).
FYI is was a British Production called a "Mocumentry" and showing the ramifications if such a thing happened i.e. VP Dick Chaney now calls for "Patriot Act III" Before attacking an posting, it would be good to do you homework.
And few see the parallels between what is happening here and the rise of Nazism in Germany in the thirties. The primary difference is in the level of technology available.
Yes. We have the technology of target stickers that you can peel off from sheets an place where you like.
Yup; technology is highly over-rated. Me, I prefer the parallels between the modern USA and imperial Rome.
Carthage must be destroyed!
Tehran must be destroyed!
Big technology differences there, but no differences of substance. Although, the Roman's clinging to their ridiculous archaic number system has considerable parallels to the USA clinging to its archaic units of measure, backward abbreviation of dates, and backward color-coding of political parties.
You're correct miniture. What people fail to realize as Facism evolves is that life still goes on as normal and people except it as ok, and each crisis weather fabricated or real continues and more and more liberties get cut back and people talk one on one and many say oh your just paranoid etc. One day people wake up and it's here and you wonder how did it happen. We wont see the streets all of a sudden being patrolled by storm troopers, it will be people wrapped in flags and caring a cross.
I think this is a scam by controllers. The country is up in arms at the multiple deadly abuses by the OnePercent but it's the Dems in one of the poorest states that are the target. Something very "off" about this. Very suspicious. An excuse to bring in the Nazi restraints on the movement of citizens before people go after the real abusers.
I agree. I was waiting to see if any posters brought up the possibility of this being a false-flag operation. There's something about the whole thing that doesn't pass the smell test, especially when you consider that the policies of so-called "liberals" these days are no longer distinguishable from those of the Republican right wing. Aside from being a possible excuse to bring on a clampdown, I see this as a divide-and-conquer strategy as well.
Good groef. Everything is a "false-flag" operation?
While it may be true that there isn't too much difference between most Democrat and Republican politcians, if you ask your conservative, Limbaugh-listening friends what they think, they will tell you something quite different. Specifically, they will tell you that that democrats are extremist "socialists" who are destroying the USA and that the extremist Replicans are the saviors. So, of course they would do such a thing. And what "divide and conquer"? You think the US-left has ANY ground in common with the Koch-created and funded Tea Party brownshirts???
No, everything is not a false-flag operation. Only a good many over-the-top stunts made to grab media attention, and this may indeed be one. You may not have noticed, but there are large swaths of libertarians who are sick of the system. They, together with similarly disaffected left-wingers (and I don't mean "liberals"), constitute a not insignificant segment of the voting population. A stunt such as this would go a long way--as it appears to have done with you and many other posters here--towards drumming up a "be very afraid" mood among left-leaning people as concerns some vaguely defined FOX-News-inspired Right. And it would also serve to make the self-defined liberal camp appear as victims, when in fact they are complicit in all the present Amerikkkan crimes. Finally, it would serve to make tweedledee "liberals" of the Democratic party seem somehow different from the tweedledee "conservatives" of the Republican party, when they are simply two heads of one same monster.
PS . You ask: "You think the US-left has ANY ground in common with the Koch-created and funded Tea Party brownshirts???"
What "US left" are you talking about? If you mean the intellectual-academic left (the only real left left), then I would answer a resounding NO. But if you are referring to the Dimocratic party and its various enablers, I would say there is no "US left," at least not with any power remotely resembling political investiture. And that, indeed, is the problem.
maybe the NRA was right after all. Maybe we need to arm and train ourselves, if nothing else, to let the perpetrators of this chickenshit, crypto-Nazi stuff know that we will not hesitate to take a few down with us.
Maybe they would hesitate a little if they had to watch their chests for the little red laser beam.
So far the left has shown itself to be a poor shot. At least it does need to get to the firing range and practice a little.
Looks like Sara Palins map doesn't it. She is just so smart with her death panels and Faux news contract.
You could always do like the Tibetans and set yourself on fire.... then give the nazi scum a big bear-hug go out togther..
>^^<
Who needs a laser sight? The right seriously underestimates the left...a fatal flaw when trying to confront who they perceive to be their enemies.
I have no desire or wish for violent conflict with anyone, especially a fellow American. Yet there appear to be a small group of *STUPID* wingnuts who seem Hell bent on starting a civil war in the country based on the suggestions of a few complete idiot rightwing talking heads that just don't want to pay personal income taxes on the huge incomes they make (if you listen to them you will notice that they compare themselves as economic equals to their poverty stricken listeners while Limbaugh alone pulls down a cool 8 million/year.)
No wonder the republicans push for cuts to education. They want to increase their ranks!
You are correct, the right wing nut tea party wants more tax cuts for the rich while the selfish bastards want the rest of us to give up our social safety nets and education to pay for it. If our children are uneducated they will be scrubbing Newts toilet and mowing Willards lawn for two dollars an hour, that is if they buy their own supplies from the koch brothers store for over inflated prices, or just starve to death.
"Who needs a laser sight? The right seriously underestimates the left."
Really? I think they overestimate us mostly. We haven't really done that much for all the talking...
Keep on disarming yourselves, stupid liberals.
Be the passive, victimized sheep that the right wing nuts want you to be.
You cannot always persuade others with differing views with facts, logic and kindness. Learn to accept that fact.
I'm NOT saying anyone should be violent. But if violently attacked, there is nothing wrong with responding with like violence.

Thing is, individual options are powerless compared to industrial type organised violence, and any larger scale clash between the two will inevitably lead to the destruction of all social democratic type advances. But same as you, I'm not saying that violence should be off limits when defending yourself; I'm just saying it most probably won't work :-/
Atomsk. Agreed, well said. Paul

MGM0822: " You cannot always persuade others with facts, logic and kindness " . True as many take kindness for weakness.
I believe that non-violence is almost always the correct path; however I am not a pacifist and own several guns and if someone tried to harm my family, would not hesitate to use them.
" Among the many misdeeds of British rule in Indian history, will look upon the act of depriving a whole nation of arms is the blackest". Mahatma Gandhi.
Here's one for Abby to post: "There's no gentle way to put it: People who give in to racism and prejudice may simply be dumb, according to a new study that is bound to stir public controversy." http://news.yahoo.com/low-iq-conservative-beliefs-linked-prejudice-180403506.html
Any more proof needed how SICK (in every way) the Nazi's are??? I'm not calling them the 'right' or 'conservatives' any more. NAZI is the only correct term.
I think neo-conservative is just as nasty a word as NAZI, and just as accurate.
How about Republicanazi?
"We should look forward not backward , and whomever took that picture of the dead cat should be prosecuted. "
Prosecuted for what exactly? I bet you have a lot of moldy things in the back of your refrigerator--I believe the fridge should be cleaned out once in awhile.
I'll bet the ASPCA can come up with some charge, assuming the picture taker was part of the group that killed the cat ...
Eventually, the people themselves will be in the cross hairs of a real rifle and not a picture pasted on their door. Revolution begins this way. And ends with a lot of blood on the streets. After all, the US is the most armed country in the world and they are in the hands of the civilians, not the police or military. With one fire arm per every one of us 315,000,000+ Americans, the top 1% has reason to be scared. The French did it with guillotines...we will probably do it with Winchesters, Remingtons and Colts.
One spark can build a roaring fire. Hatred is the oxygen. Are we there yet?
These are the fruits of the war on "terror." Bifurcating the whole population into liberal and conservative, left and right, evil and good and blurring the definitions of such terms incites the wild tendencies of the sloppy thinkers and shallow readers.
When someone like Mr. Gingritch can call himself a "conservative" without anyone pointing out that his history and agenda has done the opposite of "restoring traditional conditions and institutions" is also a fruit of this Bush-inspired confusion of words made popular by his many pronouncements during his years as Governor and President.
We misunderestimate the power of words.
Consequently, the uncareful and arrogant among us are conditioned to believe that their opinions and aversions, desires and ambitions are the only correct ones. For Ms. Palin's use of rhetoric adopted from her wolf-killing from Alaskan helicopters in the political arena, these Missouri cross-hairs are suggesting vigilante methods of intimidation.
Much like finding a burnt cross on your front yard as you back out of the garage to go to work, the crucifixion and the cross hairs blur into a single fear-inducing symbol.
To target and "eliminate" Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein with official sanction and in violation of national sovereignty and Geneva Conventions gives license to hate and to kill, even at political speeches, even in the halls of Congress.
"misunderestimate" is one of my favorite words.
I have always been under the opinion that once the Left and the workers get there hackles up there is a force to reckon with. Not stupid or passive. This is a mighty beast to be stirred out from slumber. It is this fear that seems to be the root of the the continuous mania of words and suppression from the Right and elite. How can 1% hold onto power against 99%. Only with fear and paid mercenaries and of course apathy on the other side. It is when the masses have suffered enough that revolutions begin. History keeps recycling.
What is that power exactly? It's not power over the process of work - automation has destroyed that. It's not need for manpower in the military - there is no draft and the military and police seem to find enough people (for whatever reasons) for their needs. It's not ownership - workers own nothing any more. We certainly can't compete in "agitprop". Sheer numbers, especially seeing how divided and confused much of the working "class" (I use double quotes because a "class" only exists through its organised actions) is, don't mean much. Don't misunderstand me: I'm not trying to say that we have no power. It's just that it looks like the effects of the usual tools: strikes and demos, military rebellion, agitation etc have been decreasing and are borderline meaningless now. So, what is our power? How do we excercise it?
We do not see this power in that it is not present as of yet. Only when there is enough hunger to change will it emerge. I am not saying it will be easy or coordinated initially.
