Tohfa (English: Gift) is a 1984 Bollywood, drama film produced by D. Rama Naidu on Suresh Productions banner, directed by K. Raghavendra Rao. Starring Jeetendra, Sridevi, Jaya Prada in the lead roles and music composed by Bappi Lahari. The film is a remake of Telugu Movie Devata (1982). The film became a hit and took the top spot at the box office in 1984.
It featured a hit pair of the 1980s, Jeetendra and Sridevi, known for their dancing skills, who appeared in numerous films together: hits like Himmatwala (1983) and Justice Chaudhry (1982).Tohfa, a heroine-centered story about two and their love triangle with the hero, was a direct remake of K. Raghavendra Rao's earlier hit Telugu film Devata (1982), with Jayaprada and Sridevi playing the same roles. The story was similar to earlier films: 1959 Tamil film Kalyana Parisu directed by C. V. Sridhar, who also directed its Hindi remake, Nazrana (1961) starring Raj Kapoor and Vyjayanthimala. At the 32nd Filmfare Awards, Tohfa received three nominations: Shakti Kapoor for Best Comic Actor, Bappi Lahiri for Best Music and Indeevar received Best Lyrics nomination for "Tohfa Tere Pyaar Ka."
Jaya Prada (born 3 April 1962) is an Indian film actress and politician. She has starred in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali and Marathi films. She was a Member of Parliament (MP) from Rampur from 2004-2014.
Jaya Prada was born as Lalita Rani in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh. Her father, Krishna Rao, was a Telugu film financier. Her mother, Neelaveni, was a home-maker and a very pious lady. The young Lalitha attended a Telugu-medium school in Rajahmundry and was also enrolled in dance and music classes at an early age.
Kishore Kumar (4 August 1929 – 13 October 1987) was an Indian film playback singer, actor, lyricist, composer, producer, director, and screenwriter. He is considered one of the most successful playback singers of the Hindi film industry. Apart from Hindi, he sang in many Indian languages including Bengali, Marathi, Assamese, Gujarati, Kannada, Bhojpuri, Malayalam, Odia, and Urdu. He has also sung in private albums in several languages especially in Bengali which are noted as all time classics. He won 8 Filmfare Awards for Best Male Playback Singer and holds the record for winning the most Filmfare Awards in that category. He was awarded the "Lata Mangeshkar Award" by the Madhya Pradesh government and from that year onwards, the Madhya Pradesh Government initiated a new award called the "Kishore Kumar Award" for contributions to Hindi cinema
Kishore Kumar was born in a Bengali Ganguly family in Khandwa, Central Provinces (now in Madhya Pradesh) as Abhas Kumar Ganguly. His father Kunjalal Ganguly (Gangopadhyay) was a lawyer and his mother Gouri Devi came from a wealthy Bengali family. Kunjalal Gangopadhyaya was invited by the Kamavisadar Gokhale family of Khandwa to be their personal lawyer. Kishore was the youngest of four siblings, the other three were Ashok (the eldest), Sati Devi, and Anoop. While Kishore was still a child, his brother Ashok became a Bollywood actor. Later, Anoop also ventured into cinema with Ashok's help. Spending time with his brothers, Kishore became interested in films and music. He became a fan of singer-actor K. L. Saigal—whom he considered his guru, and tried to emulate his singing style. He graduated from Christian College, Indore.

Bappi Lahiri (Born Alokesh Lahiri on 27 November 1952) is a music composer in the Indian film industry. He popularized the use of synthesized disco music in Indian cinema and sang some of his own compositions. He was popular in the 1980s and 1990s with filmi soundtracks like Wardat, Disco Dancer, Namak Halaal, Dance Dance, Commando, Gang Leader, Sailaab and Sharaabi among others.
Bappi Lahiri joined BJP in 2014. He was declared a BJP candidate from Srirampur in West Bengal for the Indian general election, 2014 and lost.
Bappi D. Lahiri was born in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal. His parents, Aparesh Lahiri and Bansari Lahiri both from Jalpaiguri, West Bengal were famous Bengali singer and musician in classical music and Shyama Sangeet. He is their only child.
Asha Bhosle (born 8 September 1933), commonly referred to as Ashaji, is an Indian singer. She is best known as a playback singer in Hindi cinema, although she has a wider repertoire. Bhosle's career started in 1943 and has spanned over six decades. She has done playback singing for over a thousand Bollywood movies. In addition, she has recorded several private albums and participated in numerous solo concerts in India and abroad. Bhosle is the sister of playback singer Lata Mangeshkar.

Apart from Hindi, she has sung in over 20 Indian and foreign languages. In 2006, Asha Bhosle stated that she had sung over 12,000 songs, a figure repeated by several other sources. In 2011, she was officially acknowledged by the Guinness Book of World Records as the most recorded artist in music history. The Government of India honoured her with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008. In 2013, she made her debut as an actress in the film Mai, and received critical acclaim for her performance.
