The ESRC Public Services Programme has come to an end but its legacy lives on
The Programme has successfully completed its five-year lifespan, in which 47 projects were funded throughout the UK and beyond, and over 100 meetings and workshops held. It lives on in the research and policy publications that it has produced and in the networks of researchers that have been set up.
This website is part of its legacy, and although it is no longer being updated on a regular basis, remains a valuable resource of publications and information about the research projects. You can explore our Library and Project pages, read about our past meetings and events, and see a poster describing every project. Our brochure summarises every research project, and individual researchers can be searched for from the Project page. Some recent or forthcoming publications are featured in the News box on the right and our final newsletter was published in July 2010.
Our final conference Public Services in the 2010s: Prosperity, Austerity and Recovery was held in December 2009 at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in London. The event drew on what we’ve learned over the last five years from the research projects, conferences and workshops, and there was a lively discussion as to how this knowledge can be applied to the challenges of managing public service performance in the 2010s.
A conference highlighting the Medical Regulation projects co-funded by the GMC was held in February 2010, and more information about these projects can be found on the GMC’s website.
