CBD Alliance is hiring! 

JOB POSTING:  Coordinator (Interim), CBD Alliance

(3 month contract, Jan 3-March 30, 2012 )

The CBD Alliance is seeking an individual for a three-month contract position (January – March 2012) with a potential for on-going renewal, pending funding.   The successful candidate will work closely with the Board of Directors to manage the ongoing operations of the Alliance (including financial management, reporting, fundraising, proposal development); facilitate communication within the network and with the CBD Secretariat; and coordinate external communications during CBD processes and meetings.

 
Qualifications & Skills

·   knowledgeable about biodiversity issues, particularly those surrounding the Convention on Biological Diversity (see www.cbd.int), and inter-governmental negotiation processes

·   skilled in developing proposals, writing narrative and financial reports

·   demonstrated experience in communications and communications technologies especially desktop publishing, website design and administration, web-based conferencing

·   experience in financial administration, budgeting and financial reporting

·   experience with institutional fundraising at the international level

·   self-directed and motivated, and a great facilitator and communicator (both in person and “virtually”)

·   comfortable working with international networks, across borders, cultures and time zones

·   able to travel internationally 1-2 weeks at a time (attend many meetings and negotiations around the CBD)

·   fluent in English (speaking and writing). French/Spanish, or other UN languages a strong asset

It is important to note that the position requires working closely with a Board of Directors located throughout the globe, which is rewarding, but often challenging work.  


Location

The selected applicant can work from most locations in the world with a secure and consistent internet connection. Applications from the Global South are especially welcome, and those residing near the host organization for the Alliance (based in India), near UNEP headquarters (in Nairobi), and also near the CBD Secretariat (in Montreal, Canada). However, the right applicant meeting the qualifications and skills can be based almost anywhere.

 Remuneration

The exact amount will reflect the candidate's experience, location (cost of living), and the number of hours a week dedicated to project. There is a possibility of both full time and part time contract positions.
