Update December 2011

US TV documentary unearthed!

'After 35 years of looking, I have finally and totally unexpectedly found a copy of a half-hour documentary on The Doctors of Madness, made for US TV when the band first started in 1975. It has some wonderful live footage of the band I have never seen before, plus footage from rehearsals, recording studio, interviews with us, our managers and Music Biz bigwigs. A fascinating historic document of a very important and exciting time in our lives. Watching it for the first time last night was like time traveling.'

A taster can be viewed here

Limited edition copies of this will shortly be available from...

Richard Strange's new site!

Richard's new site richardstrange.com is up!

Doctors fans and Strange-ists can 'listen to some music, watch film clips, see my photo galleries, catch up on my news, download any song from my entire catalogue for 50p each, from Doctors of Madness to latest demos. Buy my book, hear me read some excerpts, read a chapter of my new novel, reserve tickets for Cabaret Futura, get on my mailing lists, leave me feedback. It's a one-stop drop-in. kick your shoes off and stay a while. Would be lovely to hear from anyone who feels like dropping me a line'.

Next Cabaret Future I gather is Monday 19th December, maybe see some of you up there?

Japanese three-disc box set

Airmail Recordings in Japan have very kindly sent me a sample of their three-disc set of the Doctors' studio albums, licensed from Ozit Morpheus. The box replicates the original artwork from Figments Of Emancipation, and albums 1 and 2 include reproductions of the insert/inner sleeve including lyrics. Extra tracks are included, not sure there's much variation from the Ozit discs in terms of extras (apart from 'Doctors Of Madness - original version' on Figments. Not sure source of this cut, possibly Twiggy show?). It's a nice package in any case, and everything has been freshly remastered. For details see here.

Richard 'Kid' Strange interview

Last summer Richard granted doctorsofmadness.co.uk a lengthy interview, the transcription of which is still ongoing (currently at 7000 words!) but the first section of which is now up on-site. Not only are there in-depth details of Richard's recent multi-faceted activities, the artist formerly known as Kid also discusses his time with the Doctors in great detail.

French press 1976-8

Thanks to Christophe (via TJ), I now have scans of some vintage (and probably very rare) French press clippings. I'll have the scans uploaded pretty soonish, but if anyone's translation skills are better than mine and have the time to spare, please get in touch! (I did try with the article mentioned but didn't get further than 'a wicked new group you wouldn't want to meet down a dark alley'!)

More soon!
