Staying healthy, for most of us, follows the same basic strategymoderation, moderation, moderation. Still, it’s no guarantee that something won’t afflict you sooner or later. When you get sick, it can wreak havoc financially and otherwise, and having a support system becomes critical. While researchers try their hardest to cure ailments (for the greater good or personal gain), it is up to us to be smart patients, and demand for what’s best for us.

PM’s health numbers ‘pretty good’
I-Witness News

This April 2011 file photo shows Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves as he addressed Vincentian in Taiwan. Gonsalves at the time used a cane and wore an orthopaedic stocking to cope with the flight to Taiwan because of a leg injury. He said this week that he began last July to take care of himself in a more focused way. KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent – Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, 66, said on Wednesday that he was feeling good in relations to his heath at the beginning of the New Year. Gonsalves, who, like Opposition Leader Arnhim Eustace, has a large, pronounced belly, said he began paying closer attention to his health last July. “I want to say at the beginning of the New Year I feel very good. My numbers in respect of my health are pretty good since July last year when I went on a focused programme of taking better care of myself than I had done hitherto,” he told reporters. “I do all the checks, all the blood tests at intervals. I did in July as I began, in August, in October and I j

7 weeks to wellness: the clean challenge
Jamila Owens-Todd, N.D.

clear the chemicals: Can we truly clean our bodies with harsh chemicals? The toxic-chemical reports are continuously increasing (i.e. Johnson and Johnson’s Baby Shampoo). There are dangerous carcinogens (cancer-causing) being used next to some of the most precious, and most intimate areas of our bodies. Would you use the same soap on an adult that you would on a baby? If not, then why would you throw all caution to the wind with young children. Children, whose hormone systems are in their infancy of developing. Adolescents on Accutane should be a federal crime. If you have truly exhausted the catalogue of natural products for clearing acne or healing damaged skin, then maybe…maybe consider the use of a heavy, prescription drug with even heavier side effects. Explore the alternatives. They exist and with great results. The difficulty with this challenge is the risk of not looking as good as we are accustomed to. Yes, it takes time to get adjusted to more natural makeup products. Finding

Can Vinegar Cure Cancer?
Energy Medicine and Health

Otto Warburg, a nobel laureate claimed decades ago that cancer cannot exist in a well oxygenated environment. Cancer cells operate in order to survive by anaerobic metabolism(without oxygen) and this means that cancer cells live on subsistent levels of energy(ATP) production. In fact cancer cells are typically surrounded by a pool of lactic acid(the by-product of anaerobic metabolism), which on its own can reduce oxygen levels to a mere 5% of the environment of normal tissues. This acid pool acts as a barrier to oxygen being carried to cancer cells, and the rate of removal of the acids must exceed the rate at which they are being generated or else the condition is not curable. Dmso(a penetrant) is a bio-oxative transport molecule that penetrates the body easily, and donates oxygen to low oxygenated tissues. It has been proven, in vitro to convert cancer cells into normal cells. It breaks up the cancer, and the associated acids, by providing oxygen, and allowing the restoration of norma

Unfriend
She BANGS

If junk food had a facebook page, I would have unfriended it. But only after sending one last message. Dear Junk Food, It’s nothing personal. It just hasn’t been a healthy relationship. I find it best if we took a break since I’ve become so dependent, borderline obssessed with you. I need time to figure things out- without you . Sincerely, Me —————————————————– Whoever has had and or is still dealing with weight issues knows what I’m taking about. I got a raise at work? Let’s go out to dinner and celebrate. I got in a fight with my significant other? I’ll drown in a tub of ice cream. And brownies. And donuts. I’m at home, bored watching tv? I wonder what’s in the fridge/cabinet. My world revolved around food! And not the good kind. The past several weeks I’ve been retraining myself and trying to change my relationship with foo

Tea kettle or pressure cooker?
daniswisdom

You’re probably scratching your head wondering what the heck this title has to do with self improvement, health, and well-being.  Well, the title itself has absolutely nothing to do with those topics.  However, the concept has everything to do with them all. Stress has been labeled a killer.  However, it’s really not the stress that kills.  It’s  how we handle it.  My question to you is, are you a tea kettle or a pressure cooker? A tea kettle begins “venting” steam when the pressure begins. It gradually releases the steam, (venting), slowly and evenly.  Thus maintaining a safe level of pressure.  A pressure cooker blows steam all at once when it has reached its limit, sometimes even exploding.  When the water reaches the boiling point at atmospheric pressure it begins to boil, but since the produced steam in the pressure cooker cannot escape, the pressure rises.  Thus raising the internal boiling point.  Once the pressure increases to the set level above air pressure, a relief valve op

31 Day Reset – Day 30 – My eulogy
luvndanaturalme

I am participating in the 31 Day Reset which is a life coaching challenge hosted by Rosetta Thurman on her blog Happy Black Woman. So far I have really been enjoying the challenge and I hope that you enjoy following me along on this challenge. If you are interested in doing the challenge, click here. I am way overdue for completing this exercise. To be honest I did not know what to say about myself. I tried writing my eulogy four different times and it just did not come out right. I decided that this is not the exercise for me. I have enjoyed most of the exercises in this challenge but not this one. Sorry to disappoint.
