Just been told Laurie Penny’s latest Tweets are recomending books by owen Jones and nick cohen – all oxbridge – cosy.

Another diabolical crime to be laid at the doors of monarchy. Here is Cabell Park home of the mighty CRABS ( you have to admire the optimism of the advertisers – good on yer Mary Jane). But now facing closure – bizarrely due to the Norwegian monarchy. The ground was left to the club in  Mrs. Cabell’s will in 1921 – with the proviso that the gift would expire 21 years after the death of the last of the descendants of King Edward vii  of norway who were alive in 1921.  The last of these King Olav died in 1991 – meaning that yesterday was 21 years after his death. Now the greedy Tories on Cromer council want to sell the land off for development. I trust our Norwich comrades will be on the case. There is some hope – another descendant who was NOT ACTUALLY ALIVE but  in his mother’s womb in 1921 has only just died which would give the Crabs another 21 years. The Crabs will argue the case in court.

Class War. The Original. The Best. Worth Fighting For.

Bring it Back people – it does what it says on the tin! When I saw a propaganda show called Coppers last night I was shaking with anger – the fucking cunts could be seen on camera abusing people, people who were standing up for themselves going about their lives in most cases and these fucking cunt cops just got away with their little ‘talking head’ pieces about how that can spot the safus (subnormal and fucking useless) people from the ‘normals’, which in effect they (and the programme makers) saw as a good enough reason to go around interpreting the law (i.e. CS gassing, pushing over people they’d already handcuffed etc) through their prejudiced little minds. Give them a gun, a truncheon or an unseen fist and they will kill us people. If Ian Tomlinson had been wearing a suit he wouldn’t be dead. That’s the truth. We need to fight their unchallenged discourse of workless (read worthless) scroungers and scum. We need a war on them. We NEED Class War

The accepted story is this:  Punk/Situationism/Crass/Class War are radical for a bit but then get recuperated ending up as commodities in galleries or shops being sold to make money for the very people they started out opposing. Is this an immutable law? Has any art/cultural/political movement avoided this  come back from the dead like Take That? I’m genuinely pondering this. We can see situationist stuff, Jaimie Reid/Gee Vaucher’s CRASS  graphics in galleries. I think Class War stuff might be on the verge of having the same appeal – after 25  years it can safely be recuperated. I recently had a call from a gallery in connction with the idea of a CW covers venue. As part of the conversation I mentioned how you could never get away with covers like CW number two any more – ‘Now is the time for for every dirty lousy tramp to lie in wait outside the palaces of the rich and shoot or stab them to death as they come out’. ‘Oh but you could he said – its surely ironic’. …..silence.  So the question I am pondering is this: Would it be possible to use the new interest/buzz/excitement of such a recuperation process to actually re-create the political movement  itself in any meaningful way? ’ITS ALIVE!!Can you use the recuperators? I’m thinking out loud here. I’m sure the answer is pretty obviously negative…..but something’s nagging away….

1.Phone up your local shopping centre or supermarket and ask if you can do a bucket collection today in aid of the royal yacht

2. They will say NO.

3. Phone up  the local radio station or newspaper and say TESCO or whoever wont let me collect for royal yacht…….’its disgusting etc’

4. You are interviewed  where you give totallly OTT reasons fr yacht collection…..’stop wasting all that money on keeping old folks warm’

5. First one to  do this let me know! It can all be done in two phone calls without gettibg out of bed.
