Gentech-afdeling BASF trekt zich terug uit Europa

Het chemie-concern BASF heeft vandaag (16 januari) bekend gemaakt te stoppen met de ontwikkeling en vermarkting van gentech-gewassen in Europa. Als reden geeft BASF dat de weerstand in Europa te groot is. BASF was in Europa vooral actief met aardappels. Ook plannen voor Nederland lijken te worden gestaakt. Hierbij gaat het om de soorten Amflora (pootgoedvermeerdering voor commerciële verkoop) en Fortuna (veldproef als onderdeel van een toelatingsprocedure).

Just before spring seeds and seedlings are ready to be put into the ground, a seed exchange will be held during the weekend of 10-11 March in Amsterdam. On Saturday there will be a market where seeds will be sold, traded and given away. In addition to stalls with seeds from the Netherlands, we expect a number of international collectives specialized in saving and spreading a great diversity of fruit and vegetable crops. There will also be information stands from relevant organizations, as well as workshops, discussions and film screenings.

At the end of the last Reclaim the Fields camp in Romania, in choosing between a couple of proposals, the assembly decided to organize the next meeting in Italy. Reclaim the Fields never reached this country, so it could be a good opportunity to meet others sharing in the same interests of the constellation; moreover in Rosia Montana lots of people expressed their desire to link the activities of RtF with some of the struggles against big projects such as airports, mines, pipelines... Nearby Turin, there is a strong and well rooted struggle against the construction of the high speed rail line across the Alps from Turin to Lyon (the NO TAV movement of the Susa valley).
We usually refrain from asking directly for financial support but it will not come as a surprise to learn that – like so many other initiatives in the activist, artist and social areas – we are finding it harder and harder to find enough resources to sustain our organisation and activities. As a result of spending cuts we are confronted with a gap of 10.000 euros entering 2012. And we're asking you to help us fill it, so we can continue the struggle for environmental and social justice..
Ondanks bewaking toch stickers op producten bij Albert Heijn
Vrijdag 2 december was er weer een geslaagde een flyer –en stickeractie bij Albert Heijn, om de consument op de hoogte te brengen van de misleidende informatie die AH geeft over vlees, zuivel en eieren van dieren gevoed met foute soja. De actie vond plaats bij Albert Heijn aan de Celebesstraat en was openlijk aangekondigd. In een bericht [1] had Albert Heijn al aangegeven dat er strenger zou worden opgetreden tegen de actievoerders. Toen de actievoerders dan ook probeerden naar binnen te gaan om producten te labelen blokkeerde een bewaker de deur. Er is toen besloten om bij een andere Albert Heijn te gaan stickeren. In deze Albert Heijn konden de actievoerders hun gang gaan en werden vele producten voorzien van het gifsoja-label.
'Faucheurs volontaires' block animal feed company in France
France, November 17 - About hundred faucheurs voluntaires (voluntary reapers) blocked the animal feed factory Glon-Sanders in Saint-Gérand (Morbihan, France). They want to stop the imports of genetically manipulated soy which is used as feed in the animal industry in France and the rest of Europe.
Update: factory is now occupied and they stay for the night!
Zeven jaar geleden is 2.Dh5 in Utrecht begonnen als politiek festival. De bedoeling was om in een mix van workshops, debatten en culturele presentaties kennis te delen met iedereen die, geïnteresseerd was in actie voeren en wereldverbeteren. na diverse steden te hebben aangedaan vindt het dit jaar van 18-20 november plaats in Amsterdam.
