How to Build a 40 Pound No Heat PVC Bow for Less Than $7

Hey fellow backyard bowyers!
Yesterday we built the Zombie Slayer bow, a solid and quiet 43 pound bow perfect for dispatching zombies. While it's a great bow to have, sometimes time isn't always on your side. Even without painting or finishing, the Zombie Slayer takes about an hour or more to build. At around 5-15 minutes of work time, this bow is great for making quick backups or for building an armory for you and your trusted survivors.
Unlike the Zombie Slayer, this bow requires no heat and no shaping. It makes use of fiberglass rods assembled into a simple bundle bow inside of the pipe to distribute stress away from the handle and evenly across both limbs. It's a solid performer, shooting more than its weight and at par with typical wooden selfbows (100+ draw weight = speed of 10 gpp arrow).
Since it doesn't require a lot of "by eye" work, everything can be done separately or in assembly-line fashion and each bow comes out almost identical to every other bow. This makes this bow great for backups, as each bow will shoot identically to the last.
Now this bow does cost more in materials than the Zombie Slayer or most other one-piece PVC pipe bows because of the fiberglass rods. It costs about 3 times as much to make as the Slayer, but you make up for it in time and tool cost. Where this bow really only needs a $3.00 saw blade, the Slayer needs a heat source, flattening jig, saw, and a knife/scraper at the very least.
Even so, the materials of one bow come out to $6.40, and less than $10.00 even with the saw blade. There are some price and material lists below. Keep in mind that the prices here are based on when I bought them a week ago, and prices will probably go up as time goes on.

Shane Reed and Ryan Toth hunt with their Bob Lee recurve bows during the first week of the Pennsylvania whitetail archery season on state game lands in Armstrong county. Shane has a doe come right under the tree and makes a great shot with his bow and arrow. Right after the shot, Shane spots more deer and takes over filming. As another doe comes within range, Ryan shoots and the deer stumbles and falls then runs about 80 yards before dropping. The two recover their deer and fill the first tags of the year!

Well, the shooting got off to a rough start - the old string wasn't really suitable, and the nocks weren't deep enough, but those problems were easily remedied. After prepping the bow properly, it shoots as well as any Legolas could hope for! I hope the new owner enjoys it as much as I do!
I guarantee, I'll be making more bows like this. The finish alone makes it worthwhile, but having it as a take-down bow is a nice touch.

Michael Robert "Mike" Posner (born February 12, 1988) is an American singer, songwriter, and producer. Posner released his debut album, 31 Minutes to Takeoff, on August 10, 2010. The album includes the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 single "Cooler Than Me," his second single, "Please Don't Go," as well as his third single, "Bow Chicka Wow Wow". As of 2012, he is the ambassador of Reebok Classic's RealFlex range.
Posner was born and raised in Southfield, Michigan. His father, a criminal defense attorney, is Jewish, and his mother is Catholic. Posner attended and graduated from Groves High School, where he ran varsity track and cross-country, and went on to attend Duke University. There, Posner went Sigma Nu and graduated in 2010 with a degree in sociology and a certificate in markets and management, with an overall GPA of 3.59.
Manager Daniel Weisman of Elitaste Inc. first heard about Mike Posner in 2008 when Jared Evan manager Saytum passed on some tracks Posner had created for Weisman's then client Wale. Weisman got in touch with Posner and, impressed by songs including "Cooler Than Me", began an informal mentoring relationship with the artist over iChat. The association was made official in early 2009 after Posner's second mixtape, A Matter of Time (the first mixtape being Reflections of a Lost Teen) started attracting industry attention. Working with Don Cannon and DJ Benzi, the mixtape was released from his dorm room at Duke University in March 2009 under the name, "Mike Posner & the Brain Trust," the Brain Trust referring to Posner's supporters. The release was unusual for being distributed for free through iTunes U, a channel designed for educational audio content. Although Posner was not the only artist to take advantage of this loophole, his release was the most organised and high profile, and attracted the largest response, immediately reaching the number one position on the iTunes U chart, thanks to his manager Saytum.

Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. (born September 27, 1982), better known by his stage name Lil Wayne, is an American rapper. At the age of nine, Lil Wayne joined Cash Money Records as the youngest member of the label, and half of the duo, The B.G.'z, with B.G.. In 1997, Lil Wayne joined the group Hot Boys, which also included rappers Juvenile, B.G., and Young Turk. Hot Boys debuted with Get It How U Live! that year. Lil Wayne gained most of his success with the group's major selling album Guerrilla Warfare, released in 1999. Also in 1999, Lil Wayne released his Platinum debut album Tha Block Is Hot, selling over one million copies in the U.S.
Although his next two albums Lights Out (2000) and 500 Degreez (2002) were not as successful (only reaching Gold status), Lil Wayne reached higher popularity in 2004 with Tha Carter, which included the single "Go D.J." Wayne also appeared on the Destiny's Child top ten single "Soldier" that year. In 2005, the sequel to Tha Carter, Tha Carter II, was released. In 2006 and 2007, Lil Wayne released several mixtapes and appeared on several popular rap and R&B singles. His most successful album, Tha Carter III, was released in 2008 and sold over 1 million copies in the U.S. its first week of release. It included the number-one single "Lollipop" featuring Static Major. It also includes the singles "A Milli" and "Got Money" featuring T-Pain and won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album.
