L'Autre Dumas est un film français réalisé par Safy Nebbou et sorti en le 10 février 2010 en Belgique, et le 17 mars 2010.
Synopsis :
Fin 1847 - début 1848, l'écrivain Alexandre Dumas (Gérard Depardieu) est à son apogée. Auguste Maquet, son nègre littéraire depuis une dizaine d'années, reçoit la visite de Charlotte Desrives, fille d'un républicain incarcéré à la Prison Sainte-Pélagie. Par suite d'un quiproquo et d'une erreur d'appartement (Dumas logeait provisoirement dans la chambre voisine de celle de Maquet), elle le prend pour Alexandre Dumas, et Maquet, qui conçoit immédiatement du désir pour elle, ne la détrompe pas. Pendant plusieurs semaines ils se voient, et Charlotte révèle à Auguste la raison de sa venue initiale : elle souhaiterait que Dumas intercède en sa faveur pour faire libérer son père. Le quiproquo va se dénouer lorsque Charlotte sera invitée à la pendaison de crémaillère du château de Monte-Cristo par Dumas, et qu'elle découvrira l'usurpation d'identité de Maquet.
La querelle éclate entre les deux hommes au sujet de Charlotte, courtisée sans vergogne par Dumas sous le regard jaloux d'Auguste Maquet, tombé amoureux d'elle. Le conflit va rejaillir sur l'association littéraire des deux hommes : quelle est la part exacte de l'un et de l'autre dans cette grande réussite ? Lequel des deux est le père de d'Artagnan et de Monte-Cristo ? Bref : qui est l'auteur ? Leur relation, si paisible jusqu'ici, passe de l'alliance au doute, hésite, puis bascule dans l'affrontement, amoureux et financier, alors que non loin de là, à Paris, se prépare une révolution qui pourrait sceller le sort de la monarchie, d'autant plus que la police de Louis-Philippe a mis Dumas sous surveillance et que ce dernier croule sous les dettes.
Le film se termine par la réconciliation des deux hommes, travaillant ensemble sur l'adaptation théâtrale du Comte de Monte-Cristo, tandis que les huissiers saisissent les meubles de Dumas dans son château.

Many of his novels, including The Count of Monte Cristo, The Three Musketeers, Twenty Years After, and The Vicomte de Bragelonne were originally serialized. He also wrote plays and magazine articles and was a prolific correspondent. Born in poverty, Dumas was the grandson of a French nobleman and a Haitian slave.
The Three Musketeers (French: Les Trois Mousquetaires) is a novel by Alexandre Dumas, first serialized in March--July 1844. Set in the 17th century, it recounts the adventures of a young man named d'Artagnan after he leaves home to travel to Paris, to join the Musketeers of the Guard. D'Artagnan is not one of the musketeers of the title; those are his friends Athos, Porthos, and Aramis, inseparable friends who live by the motto "all for one, one for all" ("tous pour un, un pour tous").
The story of d'Artagnan is continued in Twenty Years After and The Vicomte of Bragelonne: Ten Years Later. Those three novels by Dumas are together known as the d'Artagnan Romances.
The Three Musketeers was first published in serial form in the newspaper Le Siècle between March and July 1844.
When Alexandre Dumas wrote The Three Musketeers he also was a practising fencer and like many other French gentlemen of his generation he attended the schools for Canne de combat and Savate of Michel Casseux, Charles Lecour and Joseph Charlemont (who had been a regular fencing instructor in the French army).

Fin 1847 - début 1848, l'écrivain Alexandre Dumas (Gérard Depardieu) est à son apogée. Auguste Maquet, son nègre littéraire depuis une dizaine d'années, reçoit la visite de Charlotte Desrives, fille d'un républicain incarcéré à la Prison Sainte-Pélagie. Par suite d'un quiproquo et d'une erreur d'appartement (Dumas logeait provisoirement dans la chambre voisine de celle de Maquet), elle le prend pour Alexandre Dumas, et Maquet, qui conçoit immédiatement du désir pour elle, ne la détrompe pas. Pendant plusieurs semaines ils se voient, et Charlotte révèle à Auguste la raison de sa venue initiale : elle souhaiterait que Dumas intercède en sa faveur pour faire libérer son père. Le quiproquo va se dénouer lorsque Charlotte sera invitée à la pendaison de crémaillère du château de Monte-Cristo par Dumas, et qu'elle découvrira l'usurpation d'identité de Maquet.
La querelle éclate entre les deux hommes au sujet de Charlotte, courtisée sans vergogne par Dumas sous le regard jaloux d'Auguste Maquet, tombé amoureux d'elle. The Three Musketeers (French: Les Trois Mousquetaires) is a novel by Alexandre Dumas, first serialized in March--July 1844. Set in the 17th century, it recounts the adventures of a young man named d'Artagnan after he leaves home to travel to Paris, to join the Musketeers of the Guard. D'Artagnan is not one of the musketeers of the title; those are his friends Athos, Porthos, and Aramis, inseparable friends who live by the motto "all for one, one for all" ("tous pour un, un pour tous").
The story of d'Artagnan is continued in Twenty Years After and The Vicomte of Bragelonne: Ten Years Later. Those three novels by Dumas are together known as the d'Artagnan Romances.
The Three Musketeers was first published in serial form in the newspaper Le Siècle between March and July 1844.
When Alexandre Dumas wrote The Three Musketeers he also was a practising fencer and like many other French gentlemen of his generation he attended the schools for Canne de combat and Savate of Michel Casseux, Charles Lecour and Joseph Charlemont (who had been a regular fencing instructor in the French army).

The Three Musketeers (French: Les Trois Mousquetaires) is a novel by Alexandre Dumas, first serialized in March--July 1844. Set in the 17th century, it recounts the adventures of a young man named d'Artagnan after he leaves home to travel to Paris, to join the Musketeers of the Guard. D'Artagnan is not one of the musketeers of the title; those are his friends Athos, Porthos, and Aramis, inseparable friends who live by the motto "all for one, one for all" ("tous pour un, un pour tous").
The story of d'Artagnan is continued in Twenty Years After and The Vicomte of Bragelonne: Ten Years Later. Those three novels by Dumas are together known as the d'Artagnan Romances.
The Three Musketeers was first published in serial form in the newspaper Le Siècle between March and July 1844.
When Alexandre Dumas wrote The Three Musketeers he also was a practising fencer and like many other French gentlemen of his generation he attended the schools for Canne de combat and Savate of Michel Casseux, Charles Lecour and Joseph Charlemont (who had been a regular fencing instructor in the French army).

Like d'Artagnan, Thomas-Alexandre Dumas fought three successful duels in a single day. He was a Count, who discovered treasure and was wrongly imprisoned for years. Author Tom Reiss has found new documents, in a safe he had to crack open, which shed new light on this amazing man. The real-life story becomes all the more amazing because Dumas was born to a black slave and a white French aristocrat fugitive in what would become Haiti. Reiss calls his biography, "The Black Count".

Society photographer and filmmaker Lord Snowdon, who married Britain’s Princess Margaret and continued to be part of the royals even after their divorce 16 years after their marriage, died peacefully at his home Friday, The Associated Press reported. He was 86.Buckingham Palace said Queen Elizabeth II, Margaret’s sister, had been told of the death a short time ago. Snowdon died peacefully at his home on Friday, the AP reported....
