About Fluxblog

My name is Matthew Perpetua, and I've been writing Fluxblog on nearly every weekday since February of 2002. I live in Park Slope, Brooklyn, and I grew up in a small town called Cold Spring, which is located about 80 minutes north of Manhattan. I am a graduate of Parsons School of Design, but I have not done much in the way of visual art for a while. (It's expensive.) I am an associate editor for RollingStone.com and contribute to Pitchfork. I have also written for Slate, New York Magazine's Vulture, NPR, Associated Press, Spin Magazine, eMusic and MTV. I was the music producer of Public Radio International's Fair Game with Faith Salie up until the show's unfortunate cancellation in June of 2008. In addition to updating Fluxblog daily, I also maintain Fluxtumblr, which appears on the main site as a sidebar. I am also the author of Pop Songs 07-08, a website in which I wrote an entry for every album track and notable rarity in the R.E.M. discography. The site is more or less complete as of this writing, but I will be returning to write about the songs on the band's most recent release Accelerate sometime in the next year or so. Even if you don't care about R.E.M., I think it's worth checking out, as I think some of my best critical writing appears on that site. In the summers of 2006 and 2007, I wrote a bunch of reviews for the Movie Binge website. I'm very fond of several of my reviews on that site. Email Fluxblog: perpetua[AT]gmail.com If you want to send music to Fluxblog, please inquire via email. Please note that while I am always glad to be sent new music, there is no guarantee that what you send will be mentioned here. If you are an artist (or represent an artist) being featured on this blog and want me to take down a song, let me know, and it will be removed immediately.
