Shin Dong-hee (Hangul: 신동희, Hanja: 申東熙) was born on 28 September 1985, mononymouly credited by his stage name Shindong. He is a South Korean singer, actor, presenter and radio host. He is best known as a member of the K-pop boy band Super Junior and its subgroups Super Junior-T and Super Junior-Happy. He is one of four lead dancers and rapper of Super Junior. He often co-write rap lyrics with fellow band mate Eunhyuk and is noted for his comedic style.

Pre-debut[link]

Shindong was born, Shin Dong Hee, in Mungyeong, North Gyeongsang on September 28, 1985. Very little is known about Shindong's personal life, and many thought he was an only child. He has a younger sister.^[1] Having a love for dancing, Shindong signed up for the 2002 Goyangsi Youth Dance contest and won the grand prize. A year later, he joined the contest again and won gold. In 2004, Shindong joined the Mnet Epi Contest and won both the gold prize and popularity award. In 2005, Shindong signed up for the SM Best Youth Contest and won first place for Best Comedian, achieving the grand prize. He signed a contract with SM Entertainment and received lessons to further improve his dancing ability.

Months after joining the company, Shindong was put in the large all-boy rotational group Super Junior as a member of its first generation, Super Junior 05. He decided to use the stage name 'Shindong' due to his birth name sounding similar to band mate Donghae. 'Shindong' (신동) is derived from his surname and the first character of his birth name. It is also the Korean word for "child prodigy."

2005-2006: Debut with Super Junior[link]

Shindong officially debut as part of 12-member project group Super Junior 05 on 6 November 2005 on SBS's music programme Popular Songs, performing their first single, "TWINS (Knock Out)".^[2][3] Their debut album SuperJunior05 (Twins) was released a month later on 5 December 2005 and debuted at #3 on the monthly MIAK K-pop album charts.^[4]

In March 2006, SM Entertainment began to recruit new members for the next Super Junior generation. However, plans changed and the company declared a halt in forming future Super Junior generations. Following the addition of thirteenth member Kyuhyun, the group dropped the suffix "05" and became officially credited as Super Junior.^[5] The re-polished group's first CD single "U" was released on 7 June 2006, which was their most successful single until the release of "Sorry, Sorry" in March 2009.^[6]

2007-present[link]

During his career with Super Junior, Shindong was put into two subgroups, smaller groups that are branched off of the larger Super Junior group. In February 2007, he was placed in the trot-singing Super Junior-T. A year later, he became a member of Super Junior-Happy.

On 27 September 2011, he along with Yesung and Eunhyuk filled in for bandmate Heechul, who enlist for mandatory military service on 1 September, during the perfomance on Music Bank and Show! Music Core of Kim Jang-hoon latest single, "Breakups are So Like Me". Heechul is featured in the song and starred in the music video, which was completed the day before he enlisted.^[7]

Five days after Super Junior 05's debut performance, Shindong became the emcee of Mnet's music program M!Countdown along with Leeteuk and Kangin. They stayed as the hosts throughout the remaining year until Kangin was replaced by Eunhyuk in mid 2006. The trio's last day of hosting was on March 27, 2008.^[8]

Shindong is popularly known as an active emcee and radio host of MBC's BoBoBo Ai Joa and KMTV's Green Apple Sound, successfully establishing the image, "DJ Shindong."^[9] Shindong left Green Apple Sound to host MBC's Stop the Boring Time Radio with Kim Shin-young.^[10]

From 2009, Shindong, along with Eunhyuk and Leeteuk, has been regular guests on SBS's Strong Heart, where they host special segment, Boom Academy, headed by entertainer Boom.^[11] On 28 March 2012, SM Entertainment announced Shindong's departure from the show.^[12] As of the 10 April 2012 broadcast, following the change in MCs and his departure, the show was re-vamped with Leeteuk and Eunhyuk, Kim Hyo Jin, Jung Ju Ri and Yang Se Hyung, billed as the 'six-fixed guests'.^[13]

While Shindong had prior acting experiences as a comedian, his acting debut was in the Super Junior film Attack on the Pin-Up Boys, which premiered in the summer of 2007. In 2008, Shindong played a major supporting role in the mini television series Single Dad in Love and also participated in the drama's original soundtrack.^[14] He and radio partner Kim Shin Young appeared in an episode of popular MBC drama Queen of Housewives.

Personal life[link]

Shindong is currently a student at Paekche Institute of the Arts. He enjoys making jokes and frequently attends gag performances. Wanting to present a healthier image to fans, Shindong went on a diet in 2008 and lost around 19 kg. In early 2009, Shindong lost another 10 kg after Leeteuk broadcasted a comment in "Super Junior's Kiss the Radio" saying that Shindong would lose more weight for the fans.^{[citation needed]}

On April 19, 2007, almost two months after Super Junior-T's release of their first single "Rokkugo", Shindong was hospitalized from a car accident when returning home after a recording of the radio show Super Junior Kiss the Radio. Shindong only suffered minor injuries, and was discharged from the hospital on April 23.^{[citation needed]} In May 2010, Shindong proposed to his long time girlfriend using a coded message in the "thank you" column of Super Junior's 4th album.^[15]

Shindong recently revealed he was not an only child. During a recording of SBS's "Strong Heart" he revealed he has a 14 year old younger sister.^[16]

Shin Min Ah debuted as a model for KiKi Magazine^[1] and has since appeared in many commercial and films advertisements, becoming one of the most in-demand commercial and films endorsers in South Korea.

Notable among her forays into branded entertainment is the 2008 multi-episode Summer Days opposite Hyun Bin and Ryu Seung-beom for LG Xnote featuring music by Yoo Hee-Yeol,^[2] as well as Friends & Love, a movie-style extended advertisement for Giordano in 2011 costarring Jung Woo-sung and So Ji-sub.^[3]

In 2008, Shin became the first Asian celebrity to do a photoshoot with a Calvin Klein model. The spread with Jamie Dornan was shot in Milan, Italy, and published in the September 2009 issue of Elle Korea.^[4]

In 2011, she was selected as the first Asian model for a DIY project with American clothing brand Rag & Bone. Other models chosen included Miranda Kerr, Carolyn Murphy and Karolina Kurkova.^[5][6]

A performing arts major at Dongguk University, Shin has also appeared in numerous K-Pop music videos, contributed her vocals to several singles and soundtracks, and has published a travel book titled Mina's French Diary.^[7][8]

Park Shin Hye (born on February 18, 1990; also written as Park Shin-Hye, Park Shin-hye, or Park Shinhye) is a South Korean actress, singer and promotional model.^[1] She debuted in the 2003 music video "Ggot" (Hangul: 꽃, flower). She is best known for the roles of "Go Mi Nam" in the television drama You're Beautiful and "Lee Gyu Won" in the 2011 drama Heartstrings.^[2][3] She attends Chung-Ang University.

Early life[link]

Park Shin Hye was born on February 18, 1990, in Gwangju, South Korea. Her family consists of her parents, an older brother and her. When she was in the 6th grade at Hak-Kang Elementary School in Gwangju, she auditioned for the lead role in the music video "Ggot - Flower" by "Dream Factory," pop singer Lee Seung-Hwan's music company. She passed the audition, joined the company, and began training as a singer there.

Park's fame came when she played the younger version of the character Han Jung-suh in the popular Korean drama Stairway to Heaven. She also starred in a drama series called Tree of Heaven which aired on SBS, starring her former co-star in Stairway to Heaven, Lee Wan.^[1] The show had decent ratings, and the reviews and criticism were mixed, but mostly positive. Many critics keyed in on her portrayal of the character Hana's pain of loving her step brother Yoon-suh (Lee Wan) as brilliantly done. It should also be noted that due to the age difference between her and Wan, romantic scenes such as kissing on the lips could not occur, where had it been an older actress, such scenes may have occurred. Tree of Heaven started with borderline mediocre ratings, as do many new Korean dramas, but went on to finish very respectably, and gained a fan base in Korea, which further helped Park's credibility and young career in acting. Since then, Park has done many commercials (CF) and modeled for a number of Asian companies.

Through her roles and their requirements, Park has displayed an instinctive talent for dancing and martial arts. She has also released a digital single, "Prayer", a song she sang in the drama Tree of Heaven. However, the track was not released in the official OST.

Park made her big screen debut in the movie Evil Twin, a summer horror flick where she had 2 roles: one as the main character, and the other as the ghost of the main character's sister, who haunts the other sister after her death. Park was extremely happy to act in this movie, because she had always wanted to act in a period setting drama or movie.

Park starred as one of the four main characters in Goong S, a spin off (not the sequel) to the wildly successful Goong. The series did not match the success of its original, and received borderline ratings. However, the drama was the most re-watched and replayed series in the first half of 2007, gaining fame after the first run. Park later gained more popularity through idol drama series You're Beautiful. Her 2011 drama Heartstrings began airing on June 29, 2011. Jung Yong Hwa, a co-star from You're Beautiful, played the male lead opposite her.

Recently, Park was featured in the first three episodes of the show "Music and Lyrics" with Yoon Gun (윤건) of Korean R&B duo Brown Eyes (브라운아이즈). ‘Music and Lyrics’ is a reality/romance show that collaborates a top actress and an amazing songwriter to write a one-of-a-kind song in 30 days.^[4] Their efforts produced the song "I Think of You". The release date is yet to be revealed.
