Carlos Francisco Delfino (born August 29, 1982, in Santa Fe, Argentina) is an Argentine professional basketball player. He also has Italian citizenship.^[2] Delfino plays at the small forward and shooting guard positions. He stands 1.98 m (6 ft 6 in) tall and weighs 104 kg (230 lb). He is also noted for his defense and three point shooting skills.^[3] He is currently a member of the Milwaukee Bucks.

Pro career[link]

1998–00[link]

He began his professional career playing in the Argentine Basketball League for Olimpia de Venado Tuerto in the 1998–99 season, and he then transferred to Unión de Santa Fe in 1999–2000. Delfino moved to Italy in 2000 and played four seasons in the Italian A-1 League, the first two with Reggio Calabria and the other two seasons with Skipper Bologna.

2000–01[link]

In his first season in Italy, he played for Reggio Calabria. In just under 21 minutes per game he averaged 8.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.9 steals. He scored a season-high 25 points in his second game against Scavolini Pesaro, making five of eight three-point attempts. He scored 15 points in just 20 minutes against Cordivari Roseto and tallied 14 points apiece against Paf Bologna, Muller Verona and Kinder Bologna. He hit at least one three-pointer in 19 of 24 games.

2002–03[link]

In his first season with Skipper Bologna, he moved into the starting lineup in the third game of the season and averaged about 26 minutes. He scored 18 points, including shooting 3-of-5 from three-point range, versus Euro Roseto and posted double-doubles against Benetton Treviso (13 points, 13 rebounds), Oregon Scientific Cantù (15 points, 11 rebounds) and Pippo Milano (14 points, 11 rebounds). He suffered torn ligaments in his ankle late in the season, but returned in late May.

2004–05[link]

Beginning in 2004, Delfino signed to play for the Detroit Pistons of the National Basketball Association, who made him the 25th pick in the first round of the 2003 NBA Draft, making him the first Argentine player ever to be selected in the first round of the NBA Draft. In November 2004, he suffered a knee injury that kept him on the injured list for over three months. He had an operation in the U.S. and then another in Argentina, where he recovered. However, Delfino did not immediately return to form after his rehabilitation, and was left off the Pistons' 2005 playoff roster. After he recovered from the knee injury, Delfino averaged 15.3 minutes, 3.9 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game in 30 games under coach Larry Brown. Many regarded Brown as having limited space for Delfino's offensive creativity. It was perceived that under the Pistons upcoming new coach Flip Saunders, that Delfino would thrive.

2005–06[link]

In his second season on the Pistons' active roster, Carlos averaged 10.7 minutes, 3.6 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game. Delfino played off the bench substituting for either Tayshaun Prince or Richard Hamilton. He had three straight games where he scored in double digits before being sidelined for the next 4 with the flu. Delfino became an important change-of-pace player in Flip Saunders' offensive scheme.

2007–08[link]

On June 15, 2007, the Detroit Pistons traded Delfino to the Toronto Raptors for 2nd round draft picks in both the 2009 NBA Draft and the 2011 NBA Draft.^[4] The 2007–08 season was his most productive in the NBA, as he averaged 9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game during the regular season.

2008–09[link]

In the summer of 2008, Delfino signed a 3 year contract with the Russian Super League club Khimki Moscow Region. Delfino was one of the highest paid basketball players in Europe, earning about $10 million US dollars per season, plus a house, a car and a driver, and savings on taxes.^[5] He averaged 13.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.5 steals per game in Europe's second level competition, the ULEB Eurocup during the 2008–09 season.^[6]

2009–10[link]

On June 16, 2009, the Toronto Raptors extended a qualifying offer to Delfino.^[7]

On August 18, 2009, Raptors signed and traded Delfino to Milwaukee Bucks along with Roko Ukić in exchange for Amir Johnson and Sonny Weems.^[8]

Delfino had a breakout season with the Bucks, as he posted career highs in points per game, rebounds per game, assists per game, steals per game and blocks per game, while playing 30 minutes per game. He also played a major role in the playoffs, shooting a career high .405 from behind the 3-point line.

Delfino was a member of Argentina's junior national team that won the bronze medal at the 2001 FIBA Under-21 World Championship that was held in Saitama, Japan. Delfino was also a part of the senior Argentine national basketball team that won the gold at the 2004 Olympics basketball Tournament. He also played with Argentina's senior national team at the 2006 FIBA World Championship and at the 2008 Olympics basketball Tournament, where he helped Argentina to win the bronze medal.

Andrew Melvin "Drew" Gooden (born September 24, 1981) is an American professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association who plays for the Milwaukee Bucks. Gooden is a 6'10", 250 lbs. power forward who played collegiately at the University of Kansas.

Before Gooden played the center position at El Cerrito High School, he attended Bloomington High School in Bloomington, Illinois for a half semester in his freshman year. After going back to California, he, as a senior, led his Gauchos to the 1999 California Interscholastic Federation Boys Division III championship game. Washington Union High School (led by NBA guard DeShawn Stevenson) won the championship game over El Cerrito HS by a score of 77–71.^[1]

Gooden joined fellow freshmen Nick Collison and Kirk Hinrich for the 1999–2000 season. Although at times Gooden was frustrated with the way things were going his freshman year, he finally adjusted to coach Roy Williams' system.

In his freshman year, KU went 24–10 and lost to Duke in the Round of 32 during the 2000 NCAA Basketball Tournament. The next season, the Jayhawks went 26–7 and fell to the Illinois in the 2001 NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen.

In 2002, he led the nation in rebounding and was named NABC national player of the year. The Jayhawks went 33–4, including 16–0 in Big 12 Conference play to win Kansas its first conference championship since 1998. The Jayhawks advanced to their first Final Four in the 2002 NCAA Tournament since 1993; however, they lost to the eventual national champion Maryland in the semifinal.

For being named NABC Player of the Year for 2002, Gooden's jersey (#0) was retired in 2003, at halftime of a Kansas home game with Kansas State in what would have been his senior year had he not foregone his senior year for the NBA.

NBA Draft[link]

Gooden declared himself for the draft after his impressive junior year. Out of Kansas, Gooden was selected as the 4th overall pick by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2002 NBA Draft.

Professional career[link]

As a professional, Gooden has established himself as a solid power forward, consistently bringing down double digit numbers in points and rebounds. He was named a "Good Guy in Sports" by The Sporting News.

Cleveland Cavaliers[link]

After the Carlos Boozer controversy, the Cleveland Cavaliers needed another power forward. On July 23, 2004 Cleveland obtained Gooden, Anderson Varejao, and Steven Hunter for Tony Battie and two second-round draft picks from the Orlando Magic via trade.^[2]

Gooden re-signed with the Cavaliers for three more years on August 14, 2006.^[3] He agreed to a three-year, $23 million contract.^[4]

In the 2006–07 NBA season, he averaged 11.1 points per game and 8.5 rebounds per game.^[5]

Chicago Bulls[link]

On February 21, 2008, at the 2007–08 season's trade deadline, Gooden was traded by the Cavs (along with Larry Hughes, Cedric Simmons, and Shannon Brown) to the Chicago Bulls as a part of a three-team, 11-player deal involving the Seattle SuperSonics.^[6]

Sacramento Kings[link]

On February 18, 2009, at the 2008–09 season's trade deadline, Gooden was traded to the Sacramento Kings in a six-player deal that included Andres Nocioni and Cedric Simmons.^[7]

On March 1, Gooden was bought out of his contract making him a free agent after playing just one game for the Kings.^[8]

San Antonio Spurs[link]

On March 5, 2009, Gooden signed with the San Antonio Spurs for the remainder of the season.^[9]

Dallas Mavericks[link]

On July 25, 2009, Gooden posted a message on his Twitter page that said "Dallas Here I Come!!!" Dallas Mavericks owner, Mark Cuban, reposted Gooden's tweet, adding "Welcome Drew.. !". On July 30, Gooden officially signed with the Mavericks.^[10]

Washington Wizards / Los Angeles Clippers[link]

On February 13, 2010, Gooden was traded to the Washington Wizards along with Josh Howard, James Singleton and Quinton Ross for Caron Butler, Brendan Haywood, and DeShawn Stevenson.^[11] Four days later, he was traded again, this time to the Los Angeles Clippers as part of a three-team, six-player trade that sent Antawn Jamison from Washington to the Cleveland Cavaliers, Žydrūnas Ilgauskas, a 2010 first round pick and the rights to Emir Preldžič from the Cleveland to Washington, Al Thornton from Los Angeles to Washington, and Sebastian Telfair from Los Angeles to Cleveland. Gooden changed his number from #90 to #0 during his tenure with the Clippers.^[12]

Milwaukee Bucks[link]

On July 1, 2010, Gooden agreed to a 5 year/$32 million dollar contract with the Milwaukee Bucks, which would make the Bucks his ninth team in as many seasons in the league.

On April 9, 2011, he recorded his first career triple double in a win over the Cavaliers with 15 points, 13 rebounds, and 13 assists.^[13]

On March 14, 2012, he recorded his second career-triple-double in a win over the Cavaliers with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 13 assists.^[14]

Personal[link]

Gooden is half Finnish; his father, Andrew Gooden, met Drew's mother, Ulla, while playing pro basketball^[15][16] in Äänekoski, Finland. Gooden's parents divorced later on, and he stayed with his father in California, US. Gooden enjoys playing the piano.^[2]

At the beginning of the 2006–07 season, Gooden appeared with a patch of hair on the back of his head. He refers to this hair style as a "duck tail."^[17] Gooden said, "It is drawing a lot of attention...One thing I've found out is even negative publicity is good publicity. At least I had the (guts) to do it." He claims women love it: "I went from getting compliments to now being sexy."^[18]

Andrew Michael Bogut (born 28 November 1984) is an Australian professional basketball player who plays for the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Bogut was selected first overall by the Bucks in the 2005 NBA Draft. The 7-foot (2.13m), 260-pound (118 kg) center was a star at the University of Utah for two years before declaring for the draft. Bogut is the first Australian player to be drafted number one overall. He was also the second Utah player to be drafted number one overall.

Early years[link]

Bogut was born to Croatian immigrants Mišo and Ankica (née Jurišić) Bogut in the Melbourne suburb of Endeavour Hills.^[1][2][3] His father is from Osijek and his mother was a native of Karlovac.^[4] Bogut grew up playing Australian rules football and tennis in addition to basketball. In his childhood, he patterned his basketball game after Toni Kukoc.^[5] As a 15-year-old, he was cut from the Victoria junior state representative team. That experience apparently drove him to improve; he later went on to attend the Australian Institute of Sport, with whom he would tour the United States in 2001 and 2002. In his last season at AIS, he averaged 29 points, 14.5 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game while competing in the SEABL.^[6] He went on to lead the Australian team that won the 2003 FIBA Junior World Championships, and was named the tournament MVP.

College career[link]

As a freshman at Utah in 2003–04, he had 12.5 points and 9.9 rebounds, and was named Freshman of the Year in the Mountain West Conference. During the summer, he was a starter for the Boomers at the 2004 Athens Olympics, averaging 14.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 1.2 blocked shots and shooting 58.0% from the field.

As a sophomore, Bogut averaged 20.4 points, 12.2 rebounds (second in Division I), 2.3 assists, and 1.8 blocks, and shot 62.0% from the field (eighth in Division I). He also led Division I in double-doubles, with 26. After the 2004–05 NCAA season, Bogut was the leading vote-getter on the AP All-America team, earning Player of the Year honors from the Associated Press and ESPN.com, plus the Naismith and Wooden Awards.

NBA career[link]

Bogut finished his rookie season with the Bucks averaging 9.4 ppg and 7.0 rpg. He was named to the 2005–06 All-Rookie First Team and finished third in votes for the 2006 NBA Rookie of the Year Award.

Bogut's sophomore season in the league was cut short after spraining his left foot and being put on the injured reserve for the final 15 games. He had previously played in 153 consecutive games.^[7] He showed improvement in his second year in the league as he averaged 12.3 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.^[8] Bogut is considered one of the best passing centers in the league, having averaged 3.0 assists per game in the 2006–07 season. In the 2007–08 NBA season the Australian center showed career highs in points (14.3), rebounds (9.8), blocks (1.7), steals (0.8) and minutes (34.9) per game.^[9] Also in 2007–08, Bogut started a career high 78 times. The low point of his second season in the NBA came when he made an obscene gesture towards a home fan after being ejected from a game for a flagrant foul against the Toronto Raptors at the Bradley Center. The move would cost him $25,000.^[10] On April 3, 2010, during a game against the Phoenix Suns in Milwaukee, Bogut suffered a major right elbow and hand injury after falling hard to the floor following a slam dunk. The next day the Bucks announced he had suffered a dislocated right elbow, broken right hand, and a wrist sprain.^[11] Bogut had been having a breakout 2009-2010 season, averaging 15.9 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game (2nd in the League).^[11] He was named to the 2009–10 All-NBA Third Team following this breakout season and became the first Australian to earn All-NBA honours.

On March 13, 2012, Bogut, along with Stephen Jackson, was traded to the Golden State Warriors in exchange for Monta Ellis, Ekpe Udoh and Kwame Brown.^[12]

Bogut's international career began with Australia's 2003 Junior World Championship team. Bogut was the star of the side, averaging 26.2 PPG and 17 RPG, including a 35 point, 14 rebound performance against Lithuania in the Championship Game.^[13] Bogut was a starter for the Boomers at the 2004 Athens Olympics, averaging 14.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 1.2 blocked shots and shooting 58.0% from the field. He represented Australia again in the 2006 FIBA World Championship. Australia advanced to the Round of 16, before losing to the U.S.. Bogut averaged 12.8 points per game and 6.1 rebounds per game during the tournament, leading Australia in both categories. Bogut was a starter for the Boomers at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.^[14] In 2012, Bogut, a contender for the Boomers at the 2012 London Olympic Games, broke his ankle.^[15]

NBL[link]

During the 2011 NBA Lockout, Bogut expressed his desire to return home to Australia and play in the NBL during their 2011-12 season rather than sit on the sidelines (and in the process, forgo any higher paying contracts he could have easily earned in Europe). He was linked to the Gold Coast Blaze, Adelaide 36ers and the team he supported when growing up, the Sydney Kings. Ultimately he chose the Kings (who finished 9th and last in 2010-11), but the insurance to cover his remaining $39m contract with the Bucks could not be resolved, leaving the Kings and the NBL without his on-court services.^[16] Following the breakdown in contract negotiations over the insurance money Bogut stated he would like to join the Kings coaching staff in a bid to not only help the club but to help raise the profile of the NBL. With the NBA lockout resolved however, he returned to the Bucks.

Brandon Jennings (born September 23, 1989) is an American professional basketball player for the Milwaukee Bucks of the National Basketball Association (NBA) who plays at point guard.

Jennings was a highly acclaimed high school player, averaging 32.7 points and 7.4 assists as a senior, and won all major player of the year awards in his senior year. After graduating from Oak Hill Academy, he decided to play professional basketball with the Italian club Lottomatica Roma instead of playing collegiately for the University of Arizona Wildcats, leading to controversy and debate on the NBA's "prep-to-pro" policy adopted in 2006. After a year in Italy, Jennings declared for the 2009 NBA Draft and was selected 10th overall by the Bucks.

Brandon Jennings was born to Alice Knox. He has a brother named Terrence Phillips.^[1]

High school[link]

Jennings attended Dominguez High School in Compton, California for his freshman and sophomore year. Before his junior year, Jennings transferred to powerhouse Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia. In his last year of high school, Jennings averaged 32.7 points, 7.4 assists, and 5.1 rebounds per game^[2] and set the school record for points in a season. This performance earned him some of high school basketball’s most prestigious awards: the 2008 Naismith Prep Player of the Year Award, 2007–08 Gatorade Player of the Year (Virginia), 2008 Parade Magazine Player of the Year and 2008 EA Sports Player of the Year. He led his 2006–2007 team to a 41–1 record and the top ranking in the USA Today Super 25 list of high school teams.^[3] He was rated as the nation's #1 high school basketball prospect in the class of 2008 by Scout.com,^[4] the #1 prospect in the ESPNU 150,^[5] and the #4 prospect by Rivals.com.^[6]

In August 2006, he chose to attend USC. On April 24, 2007, he decided instead to join the University of Arizona Wildcats, citing Arizona's quality academic faculty and his desire to play with Jerryd Bayless. (Bayless left after one season to enter the 2008 NBA Draft.)^[7] In November 2007, SLAM Magazine’s third edition of PUNKS featured Jennings on the cover along with three other top-rated high school guards (Jrue Holiday, Tyreke Evans and Lance Stephenson).^[8][9]

In June 2008, Jennings attended the premiere of Beastie Boys' Adam Yauch's basketball movie Gunnin' For That #1 Spot at the Magic Johnson Theater in Harlem. Also attending were Kevin Love, Lance Stephenson, Brook Lopez, Robin Lopez, DJ Augustin, and Adam Yauch. The film follows eight top high school players—including Jennings—from their hometowns to NYC, for the 2006 Elite 24 at Rucker Park.

In June 2008, Jennings announced that he was considering becoming the first American to skip college to play professionally in Europe. The NBA requires players to be at least 19 years old and one year removed from high school before entering the league, meaning that Jennings could not enter the 2008 NBA draft. Jennings declared that his goal was to play in the NBA and that playing overseas instead of at an American college could be his best route to gain experience and make money until he was eligible to join the NBA.^[10]

Italian career[link]

On July 16, 2008, Jennings signed with Lottomatica Roma of the Italian Lega A.^[11] The contract he signed with Roma was for $1.65 million net income guaranteed^[12] and after earning the contract with Lottomatica, Under Armour gave Jennings a $2 million contract^[13] to showcase their products in the Euroleague. Jennings was the first player to play for a European team rather than play for a college basketball team since the NBA's age restriction rule was implemented.

In the Italian Lega A 2008-09 season, Jennings averaged in 27 games, 5.5 points, 1.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.5 steals in 17.0 minutes per game. He shot 35.1 percent from the field and 20.7 percent from 3 point range in Lega A play.^[14] In 16 Euroleague games, Jennings averaged 7.6 points, 1.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.2 steals in 19.6 minutes per game. In the Euroleague he shot 38.7 percent from the field and 26.8 percent from 3 point range.^[15]

Jennings was selected tenth overall by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2009 NBA Draft. He became the first player who skipped college to play professional basketball in Europe to be drafted by an NBA team. Jennings also made a notable appearance at the draft. He had initially decided not to attend the draft and preferred to be at a family function during the draft. After he was drafted by the Bucks, he left the family function and headed to Madison Square Garden. He later came out on stage after the 14th pick was announced to have his picture taken with NBA commissioner David Stern, just like all drafted players who attend the draft.^[16]

Rookie season[link]

During Jennings's NBA regular season debut on October 30, 2009, against the Philadelphia 76ers, Jennings recorded 17 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists, and hit 2 three-point shots, just shy of a triple-double, and played 34 minutes. In his second game, on October 31, 2009, against the Detroit Pistons, also the debut in Bradley Center, Jennings scored 16 points during the third quarter and a team-high 24 points for the game to lead the Milwaukee Bucks to their first victory of the 2009–10 regular season.

On November 14, 2009, after a scoreless first quarter, Jennings scored 29 points in the 3rd quarter against Golden State en route to a total of 55 points in the game to break the team record for most points by a rookie previously set by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in 1970. Jennings's performance was the most points scored by a rookie since Earl "The Pearl" Monroe scored 56 in 1968. He became the youngest player to ever score 55, collecting the second-highest total for a player under 21, behind only LeBron James's 56 points in March 2005, and the second-most points scored by a Milwaukee Buck (behind Michael Redd's 57 in 2006).^[17] On February 2, 2010, he was selected to compete in the Skills Challenge.^[18]

2010–11 season[link]

On October 30, 2010, Jennings recorded his first ever triple double, with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists against the Charlotte Bobcats. On December 15, 2010, Jennings broke his left foot against the San Antonio Spurs when he came down awkwardly on his ankle.^[19] Despite the injury, he played 30 minutes the following game against the Jazz. The team later confirmed that Jennings would miss the next four to six weeks as he recovered from surgery to repair a fracture in his left foot.^[20] He had been averaging 18.7 points per game before the injury.^[21] Jennings missed a total of 19 games with the injury before returning on January 29, 2011 in a 91-81 home victory over the New Jersey Nets.^[22] He scored a season-high 37 points against the New York Knicks on March 25, 2011.^[23]

After an earthquake in Italy while he was playing there in April 2009, Jennings donated $50,000 to support victims.^[24]
