Larry Murphy (ice hockey)

Lawrence Thomas Murphy (born March 8, 1961) is a former Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman. He currently serves as a studio analyst on NHL Network.

Playing career

After a stellar junior career with the Peterborough Petes and representing Canada at the 1980 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships, Murphy was drafted 4th overall in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft by the Los Angeles Kings. In the 1980–81 NHL season, he set National Hockey League records for most assists and points by a rookie defenceman, with 60 and 76 respectively. He was eventually traded to the Washington Capitals for defencemen Brian Engblom and Ken Houston early in the 1983-84 season, which did not work out in the Kings favor long-term because of Murphy's prolonged success in the league.

In his 21-season career (1980–2001), Murphy would eventually play for six different NHL teams. In addition to the Kings and Capitals, he also suited up for the Minnesota North Stars, Pittsburgh Penguins, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Detroit Red Wings.

It had English release in 1965 under the title The Hockey Players, Finnish release as Mestarit, and East German release as Eishockeyspieler.

Plot

Lawrence Murphy, Jr. (born 1972, in Abington, Massachusetts) is an American actor, voice actor and comedian, known for his work on the TV series Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Ugly Americans, Delocated and Bob's Burgers.

Career

Murphy began performing stand-up comedy in 1997 at the Comedy Studio in Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Soon after he teamed up with Brendon Small. Together they performed sketches and rock operas until 2001. Murphy's subsequent independent live work is a mix of sketch and characters. He rejects traditional styles in favor of playing with the medium.

Murphy is a voice actor renowned for his versatility. He voiced all of the main characters on the Adult Swim comedy series Assy McGee and has lent his voice to several Soup2Nuts animated shows including O'Grady, Home Movies, and WordGirl. He voices Teddy in the animated Fox series Bob's Burgers. He currently voices the hostile immigration officer Lt. Francis Grimes on the Comedy Central series Ugly Americans.

Larry Murphy (baseball)

Patrick Lawrence Murphy (March 17, 1857 – October 6, 1911) was a Canadian outfielder in Major League Baseball for the Washington Statesmen.

Born in Toronto, Ontario, he made his major league debut on May 30, 1891, at the age of 34. He would only play that one season. He played in 101 games with an .265 batting average, 1 home run, 35 runs batted in and 29 stolen bases.
